Im not a homer, I go to games to see my favorite players. This is simpe if the price for the service rendered is to high then you should probably shop around for cheaper prices. But be fore warned!!!!!! You Usually get what you pay for.
Why do the Billionaires pay the Millionaires? You can't tell the Billionaires how much to pay their employees. The Billionaires are in the BUSINESS to make money and they pay these Millionaires because the Millionaires make money. Pure and simply. If the Billionaires are hurting so bad why don't they sell their business to another Billionaire and there are many Billionaires that are willing and want to buy a sports franchise. They don't sell because they are making money.
Both the players and owners are greedy, but I think the greedy owners are worse because they are the ones that are willing to pay outragious salaries. Free Agency has become like a high end auction house with owners trying to outbid each other for the next masterpiece to add to their collection or team. Just look at the crazy money the owners was willing to offer when Lebron James came on the market.
I think the paycuts will actually serve some of the sportspeople right. I think they are overpaid anyway and with too much money doesn't always come a better performance. Sometimes it seems that the more one gets the less they try, because they are simply used to always getting more. Example: David Beckham.
Let this be a sports effort , if you really love good common sense sports commentary, call or write each other and make sure you get as many people as possible to write Fox sports in L.A., write as many people as possible, . We live in a world of bad economic times , we are at war , we need a good commentary in sports to get us away from the everyday bs. that revolves around us. so call and get JR on the Tube , Thanks
I think it's the players. If the league is losing money, especially in the MLB and NBA were that players are some of the highest paid athletes, the players should be willing to take pay cuts. In my opinion, people in those 2 sports don't really deserve that money in the first place. And in the NFL, I think a few of the higher paid people should take a pay cut, but not to much. Most o their money problems could be solved by more people going to games and buying merchandise.
I'm wtih you all the way Omniryu. It's sad regular folks have to take a paycut or lose there job cause this dirty ass system doesn't want to spend money on us but these greedy ass NBA, MLB, and NFL players is living it up and having a great time in this shitty ass economy. Fuck that, let them feel how we feelin. Cut all there paychecks.
we are way to generous ,, everytime i go to fenway park i am paying for the biggest rip off ever we call him j.d. drew , phillie , cardinals , braves , and dodger fans i'm sure can relate to me ,,,,,,
be happy you we're not stuck with him for 5 long years !
One way or another, the NFL and NFLPA MUST (I emphasize MUST) find common ground and get to an agreement and avoid a work stoppage. I don't care how big of a bully you are on the block, all bullies have weaknesses. The NFL's (as is all sports's) is the lockout. MLB 1994 and NHL 2004-05 are direct examples of this.
a player like derek jeter could take a paid cut if the team needed him to. Why beacause he administrates his money, he doesnt go and spend it all in a year which has him always in good shape to do what ever he wants. But still yankees dont need him to do that and only smart players could do it.
it has to do wit the owners AND PLAYERS,BOTH ARE RICH,UT THE OWNERS WANT MORE OF THAT PIE LOL,SO DON'T BE SURPRISED IF THERE ARE NO SEASONS LOL,OWNERS AND PLAYER'S DON'T GIVE A SHIT BOUT THE FANS,THEY CARE FOR ONLY THING MONEY! U DIG LOL.
What also pisses me off is how people dont understand how entertainers can/will/should make more than any pencil pusher(banker) ever will. The reason why is because entertainment has no limits on its profits.Micheal Jackson maybe spent 1 million on studio/production for thiller&another few million for promotion but the album generated billions. If you had 5 million $ of oil, no matter what happens that oil wont become worth billions(any time soon).Pencil pushing jobs are generally more safer bets
Each teams situation is different but ive said for years that i thought the money should be spread around a little bit more. Im in favor of little bit lower salary caps & little bit higher minimums. Now i dont know how they calculated the 400 million for the NBA, because what standard were they using? How much is too high for a salary?
Owners are greedy. An athlete's career can end at any moment, but the billionaire owners generate revenue through a variety of sources...TV revenues, stadium tickets & concessions, jerseys, and revenue sharing. Sorry owners, I'm siding with the employees, who just happen to be millionaires, but that's chump change to a BILLIONAIRE!
Both greedy. NBA players are grossly overpaid and usually, it's the old guys who can't hack it anymore who are overpaid or guys who played a lot of years with dead weight contracts. the NBA, out of all the leagues, needs to drastically rethink how to pay their players.
The NBA players are not nearly as greedy as the NFL players- and don't get me wrong, I LOVE the NFL and NBA, but there are some players who think that they HAVE to be paid 15 million a year when they could be paid 10 million a year- They say that they grow up dreaming of playing in the pro's? they need to be happy they are in the pros. I mean, i don't even know what would happen to the "rookies" if there is a lockout in 2011.
NBA players make more money than NFL players generally speaking. This is b/c all a NFL players money is not gauranteed. They only have so much money gauranteed to them in their contracts and the rest of the money is based on incentives from their performance. This makes them pretty muched screwed if they get injured. The NBA on the other hand is gauranteed money whether they are hurt or not. If I had my choice of playing in either league. NBA 4 sure. NFL players need to be a bit more greedy.
I agree with you in a way, but I don't they need to be more greedy. I mean, there's 52-54 people on ever NFL team. Although, I do feel they are the most deserving of athletes who as a whole are underpaid, compared to the NBA and MLB. They all should take pay cuts, since even the bench warmers make $1 million a year. And you're right again, NFL players are only guaranteed about 40% of their money. I think, NBA and MLB players need to be LESS greedy and less spoiled.
For a good many years the Milwaukee Bucks gave up before the season even started. And because Basketball is what it is, no one wants to play in Milwaukee. So any good players that come through town we know are going to be leaving. So why should I pay $300 a game for the worst seats in the house for a team thats not trying to be better than mediocre? I'll just save my money for baseball season or watch some Admirals hockey. All sports fans want is to know their team is trying to win.
Hey, the Bucks are actually spending money now! I think if they make the playoffs this year, likely, they will actually try to put a winner out there.
They can make it as a minor league feeder squad for the Lakers and other high profile teams. As for winning NBA Championships, I doubt it will happen in my lifetime and I'm only 30.
Tying it into the larger labor dispute, the owner of the Bucks makes money with a losing team or in the case of this year, a mediocre 8 seed who will get embarrassed in the first round. If he had to invest the kind of funds and effort the Lakers do, he couldn't make money on this team.
there is enough money to go around I don't care what kind of deal gets done, it better get done and not be a lock out, I will be pissed off if there is any lock out.
they're both greedy, they need to get it together! if there is no football in 2011, i will burn down the nfl offices in nyc... new york is only 2 hours away from me.
(cont. from other one) that they want the big bucks and owners want to keep their "franchise player" or their best workers. not dissing the players but owners have their share to but pro sports is a business and not just the nba is going through it. MLB nfl going through it too. so it's both but i see the players being the greedy people a 1/2 step ahead.
players they wan the millions of dollars but in the state of economy we have now some players come out and say that they are willing to take that pay cut like i think Larry Fiztgerald did. pro sports is a business and the owners are like a CEO of some big company in which the franchise is a company with a different name than "company" owners are business men and they know business in order to save money they have the players (workers) take pay cuts. but some players are so damn greedy
@Frostwire120 some players are greedy. but some players are right to be greedy. i mean look at the nba. people may say that players are greedy. but if you factor in the amount they sell in jerseys/apparell, the amount of people that come to them and the media buzz worldwide they generate they are actually not greedy enough. a guy like lebron who commands 17m from his team now means hundreds of millions of dollars to the cavs & the nba. is he then greedy for asking for 25m a yr? i dont think so.
I think one of the reasons is the recessions. Once the recession is gone, NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, and other professional sports will earn alot of money since the Jordan years, Troy Aikmen years, Mark MCGuire years, and Wayne Gretzsky years.
It's both, owners refuse to dish out money, because they either don't have it or don't have the means to give it up. Then, the players refuse to deal with that pay cut and are too greedy. If you are a young player, you are probably good for awhile with the money you're earning. Then, when you start earning a lot you get this greedy mindset which messes up everything.
greedy owners..a bunch of rich old white men who are all sitting of hundreds, if not billions of dollars of net worth, complaining about one bad investment. give me a break. they just want to control the players just like back in the day on the slave plantation.
OWNERS!!! as a chargers fan, you know im at a boiling ponint right now! ya think sproles WANTS to leave? heck, forget sproles, try ladainian tomlinson.
All expire next year? Here's hoping for four lockouts (even though I love baseball) so boxing becomes the top sport again like in the 50s for at least a year.
