There are two accounts of story which we both mentioned.John did say in an interview that he had his guitar sent to his mothers house because Mimi didnt want him to get one.His mother taught him to play but taught him in the style of banjo and how to tune it like a banjo.Paul and George taught him to play and tune it properly.

Mimi disliked Paul McCartney because he had, she thought, a fake "posh" accent. He was working class (Mimi's husband owned a small business, so she considered themselves "middle class") and she thought Paul not sounding like a "Scouser" was phoney. She often referred to Paul as "John's little friend". She HATED George Harrison because of his thick Scouse.

I always feel a bit sad for Mimi because she confessed that she always carried a lot of guilt for "taking" John away from Julia, insisting that she raise him instead of his own mother. I'm sure John would have insisted otherwise; that Mimi was the one stable element in his life.
