No-one sings Kristofferson like KK.. not Willie, not Waylon (RIP) or even the late great Johnny Cash... I often wondered why Kris with his clearly 'unvarnished' voice ever made it into such company as"The Highwaymen" (3 fab voices). They could've picked a far better 4th vocalist. But they didn't coz they each knew. The reality, poignance,sheer humanity & beauty of KK's own stuff delivered in that same "unvarnished" voice is something no-one else has ever had or ever will have. God Bless Kris!

While I must agree that Kirs's version is better, I think in general the other 3 had better voices. Kris Kristofferson in my mind is not a fantastic singer, but he is the best song writter of true songs. No one can write a song better than Kris. They involve something we all can relate to.

I think nobody can sing KK's songs like himself bc we know how much heart and soul he put into writing them and it seems even a great buddy like Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash doesn't deserve to sing KK's songs... Kristofferson sings with such passion and sincerity which can make a song much better than a great voice with no feeling can
