basically a stock gst goin againt a built fiero not very fair. put a 16g, fmic, 560cc injectors, 190lph fuel pump, and tune to 17 psi. and re-run

the eclipse was running 15psi, intake, turback exhaust.. so it wasnt stock.. and knowing that it was probably a DSM motor maybe AWD.. this was a great race..

Will someone tell me where he got his taillight assemblies? I'm working on my own SC Fiero project and love the look of the LED style. Only difference between mine and his is I'm going to use the G6 F40 6 speed instead of the Isuzu 4 speed so it should be fun once all the porting and polishing, boring out etc. is finished

The question is, which is more reliable? the fiero with the swapped engine, or the mitsubishi pushed to max. Having a badass car is one thing, having one you can depend on is a totally different story.

The Mitsu isnt pushed anywhere close to max. Infact, all he has is bolt-ons...so it is reliable.

The fiero is most likely using a near stock 3.8SC which is 240 or 260HP depending on the year...again, very reliable.

@xtra1234 nah the 3.8 is a common GM engine that came supercharged stock on special buick regals and lumina z24's and bonnevilles... etc. theyre cheap, easy to find and bolt right into the fiero's engine bay. and 240 hp on such a small car gives it awesome power.

Blaze your a moron..you do realize the eclipse was built in america right? google dsm and stop talking...That fiero was bad ass, no doubt, but running against a measly 14b @ 15 psi dsm is a joke....seriously thats eclipse is like 200-215 whp MAX..Dsms can get into twelves on stock internals with little more than turbo, fuel, exhaust, boost controller...nice fiero though..now come run me..

@95300whptalon..my friends eclipse pulls 264whp on 15lbs of boost and blaze is right about the 3800SC fiero running low 12's direct swap and low 11's with little more than an intercooler, headers and a SC pulley change considering that you need to custom fab the intake and exhaust to get the swap in the fiero anyway... the sad part about this vid is that its from a roll and the 3800 is a low end torque motor where the 4G63 is a top end engine with that in mind this was the eclipses race

I love Fiero's as much as the next guy, but the Fiero is not a light car. Stock for stock... a 3800 Series-II SC is not going to be THAT much quicker than a Grand Prix GTP (stock) in an 86+ Fiero GT. The GP-GTP probably does mid 14s with a 3800 SC2 (stock), so in a Fiero, you can probably expect high 13s at best because of the lower restriction exhaust and the slightly lighter weight 2,750 vs 3,100. Not that 12s aren't possible... just not from a stock swap. That Eclipse is a mid 14s car stock.

47/53 weight distribution, not exactly all the weight on the rear end. It's not a Porsche or old air cooled Beetle. But still... what you're saying is right, just don't want people to tink ALL the weight is on the rear. The engine sits FORWARD of the rear wheels. It's mid-engine, not rear-engine.

@Todd82TA your mostly right here but some numbers are off the 3800SC GTP does not weigh 3100.. my buddies turbo VW passat weighs that.. the GTP weighs 3400lbs give or take 50lbs dry.. the fiero is gonna weigh like you said 2,750 maybe closer to 2800-2850lbs because the 3800SC is a good 100 pounds heavier than the 2.8L plus the GTP it FWD.. not to hate but fwd has and always will have traction issues..

@Todd82TA the fiero being RWD has the advantage, my porsche 944 was a near perfect 50/50 and the fiero is nowhere near that balance or at least doesnt feel that way and with the extra 100 lbs in the back with the 3800SC its at least 40/60 IMO just from owning the car i would guess it's a 45/55 probably closer to 40/60 which is not bad at all the car definitely keeps its composition in corners of course you could be right.. in any case nobody is going to install a 3800SC in a fiero and not do

The Fiero's official balance is 47/53 according to Pontiac and Gery Wizenburg (who wrote the press book). The 3800SC Series-II isn't much heavier than the 2.8 because the heads are aluminum, and they aren't in the Fiero. Some of your suspension might be shot. It's decent handling but comes with induced understeer (bad) from the factory.

@Todd82TA at least a couple of mods to the engine... an exhaust and cold air intake are required to even get the thing in and have it road worthy at least legally/safely.. and since you have an exhaust and headers anybody would drop a pulley for some cheap extra power before you know it the day you swap the sucker in you have 300HP and 320TQ in a RWD car that weighs ~2800Lbs... and the 3800 is a low end torque monster nit a high revv DSM engine if you have ever been in a 3800SC fiero they launch

What's your technical level? Unfortunately, almost any engine swap is going to require some fabrication and cost a bit.  Probably the cheapest route to go faster is a turbo kit.
