Im from Chicago and i don't like deep dish. Best pizza in chicago: Home Run Inn pizza at 31st and kildare ave in Chicago.I haven't been in NY so i can not give my opinion about it,however,, i have been in several other states and by far ,Chicago has the best! not only in pizza, but also in other types of foods e.g ; Mexican,Hotdogs,burgers, etc etc..you name it! we have it all!

Understand that "Chicago Deep Dish Pizza" was first introduced at Uno's in 1942 by a guy from Texas. Prior to that, Chicago had plenty of thin crust venues- and still does. Home Run Inn @ 31st & Kostner puts out the best thin, IMHO.

I'm going to NYC next week, and I want to try Lombardi's, where it all began. Looking forward to it. It's all good--except that corporate garbage they serve at Domino's.

@BenAliGtor I went to NYC one month ago and I tried Lombardi's. I got their original pizza with sausage, and to be honest, I was quite disappointed. Their original pizza isn't what I expected NY style pizza to be like because it's a Margarita pizza. I got the exact same thing in St. Louis at Romano's Macaroni Grill. However, literally 1.5 blocks away, there is Ray's Pizza which is the best NYC pizza I have ever had. The kind from the TMNT Secret of the Ooze movie.

For me it depends on the season. I live up north and in the winter, I like a burlier,meatier, deeper pizza, in the summer I like light thin crust pizza with delicate toppings.Kind of like the difference between northern italian cuisine, and southern italian cuisine. If I was on a deserted island starving, I would have to go Chicago though,mostly because of the crust.

I had Chicago style a few times and all I can say is thank god I'm from the New York area! In Chicago style, the taste of the dough was somewhat overpowering to the whole pizza in general. Plus the usage of other ingredients was too much at times as well.
