...er, I meant cream filling. Also, let's not forget the show's memorable opening sequence: merrily and eddy putting their index fingers to their cheeks and saying: The smile is the key. The key to the door. The door to the Magic Toyshop!".

oh man! talk about a flash from the past. I was born 1951 in St. Joseph's hospital in Syracuse. My brother, born in 1949, and I sat at the t.v. religiously to watch this show. Time sure flys!!
I was on 10 O'clock Scholar about 1958. I was part of Mr. Barbers reading class in Baldwinsville. I could read 1495 WPM with 95% comprehension. I wish there was a clip of that show. Ken Myers
Anyone remember a Syracuse-based show called Pop Hop Dean? It was basically a quiz show about pop music featuring high school students. I was on it around
'67 and would pay big bucks for any recording of that!
I lived outside of Syracuse, WTVH was a very weak signal. I loved "Monster Movie Matinee". However, this show was the true horror. The retarded Mr Trolley and Eddie; the Annette Funicello looking lady, jezus christmas!
The co-creator of the show, Jean Daugherty, aka "the Playlady", passed away in April 2008 at the age of 86. (She is not featured in this particular clip.) .I met her on the set of the show in 1965, when I was 5 years old. What a thrill ! To the end she was a "people collector," constantly performing small kindnesses for people young & old - bustling about, finding odd little cards, gifts, what not...
This was my little brother's favorite show. Do you have any from channel 9? Remember Baron DiMohn? What about Monster Movie Matinee on channel 3 with Ipaul?
Awesome. You are right that Syracuse had some pretty darned good local programming. The Magic Toy Shop, Baron Daemon, Monster Movie Matinee, the later WSTM Steamboat and even the adult programs like Ed Murphy. Saturday mornings I used to watch Western Jamboree. I wish I could find the theme song from that show.
