I learnt to drive and passed my PSV test on an FS. Drove them out of Llandudno Junction depot in the summer of 1978 on the M13 Llandudno to Rhyl. Great fun flat out in 5th gear down the Abergele straight with everything rattling and speedo off the clock. But, they were slow on hills; down to 2nd gear on Penrhyn Hill, sometimes even down to 1st at the top with a full load.
Brings back many nostalgic memories of the time, in the sixties, when I was a driver with Crosville at Edge Lane, Liverpool. These were my favourite buses to drive and the Chester run was my favourite service.
H20 & H23 to Chester, H24 to Frodsham (sometimes Helsby). A different driving experience once the Runcorn bridge had been crossed, so laid back in comparison to the Liverpool area.
Excellent video - many thanks. But horribly inappropriate music which isn't really necessary.

My dad drove these in the seventies. The 251 Wood green to Southend route. Until it was taken out of service.

My favourite type of bus so beautifully captured. In my opinion, your videos are among the best on YouTube. Keep up the good work!

I love old buses, remember these well going to school in the early 70s. My favourites were Bury Corporations PD3s

I was thinking exactly the same mate. They have a nice face on them, welcome aboard, not like the awful euro boxes of today.

Yes I wish I could too! Modern buses are characterless 'boxes on wheels'!
