  • Amazing. Keep going. I'd love to hear more of your playing.

  • this is level 9!? LOL this is way harder then any of my grade 8 pieces!

  • I've heard a bunch of different people play this song on you-tube and I must admit this is the 2nd best version I've ever heard. the 1st is Van Cliburn anyway the reason most of all why this is one is my favorite youtube version is that it IS NOT played with blinding speed thus ruining most of the song. and people who tell her that she is playing this too slow are imo WRONG. Theres more feeling to the song when its played slower you get far more emotion and character from the music.

  • well done, but noone can beat Wilhelm Kempff

  • i think that this is amazing. but then again i'm not much of a piano aficionado. But then again it's amazing.

  • beethoven has always been a challenge

  • you're greaat ! congraats girl

  • She is incredibly talented! :) Im learning this piece right now on the piano, and i can really appreciate it because I know how hard it is to learn. Im 14, and probably wont be this good in 2 years.... so keep up the amazing work!! :)

  • Slow down u playing it to fast xDDD

  • had I done that and got a bouquet of flowers in return, I might have thrown her off the stage...

  • I think it isn't easy to find a 16 year old pianist who has such perfect control of tempo, dynamics and texture.

  • WOW!

  • excellently played!

  • how long did it take you to learn thisss??

  • I'm seventeen and i'm playing this piece for juries. this is an extremely hard piece &I know that so very well. She plays it faster than me & I play it only a bit slower than this tempo. don't listen to the people about sitting because that's ridiculous, I know a girl who sits really far back and she says because it's comfortable, that should always be the first thing. So if it's comfortable that's perfect.

the only critique I might make is a little more dynamics on the long runs.

  • Technique:9.0

    Emotion:0.0

  • @Danithel if you think this woman was not showing any emotion you have no idea what kinda of song Beethoven intended this piece to be

  • @ShmamanFire For me in some parts he means anger, and in other he was strugling to have some peace.....what do you think it was?

  • @ShmamanFire Oh,and that's not a song it's music.

  • @Danithel for real tho!

  • this is niiiice.how long didit take u to play this

  • I can't believe some people will criticise the way you are sat at the piano!! The fact is this was an amazing recital, and I whole-heartedly disagree that it should be quicker; any quicker than this and you ruin the feel of the piece. This was very well played and sounded great. Congrats.

  • This is very difficult so I give her credit just getting up there and playing this monster.

    Bravo!

  • Well done!

  • Your playing is awesome! I jus wanna say it bothers me that you sit so far back on the bench, some of the comments about you having more power and using more of your upper body and arm weight may be valid, the sound is good but visually you look like your sitting too close.

  • Well Im not even good at piano and I can tell you that she is slow you need to be faster in order to master this piece and I dont feel like her fingers are fast enough like at the beginning.

  • didn't like it

  • AMAZING !!!!!!!

  • Brilliant !!! bravo !!*****

  • aww well done her! This piece is a bitch to play, but a wonder to listen to.

  • all the good comments have thumbs down... get a life ppl dont be so arrogant as to think ur playing is the best -.- this vid rox :D

  • Need I say looked woark of godo teacher but I need moore artistic, energy, more contrac in Dynamics and quality of sound (to listen all note's not just play with finger's)

  • A terrible mistake at 7:15 to 7:16...otherwise, it will really be almost perfect...sigh...good job nevertheless... =(

  • I also played this piece for school talent competition when I was 14

  • She's like a ROBOT, she move only her arms !!

  • that was stupid! obviously you're jealous of asians. harhar!

  • Dude, as if you play alot it ain't hard to learn doh!

  • I have heard that this is the appropriate way to train and play...the idea is to minimise any unneeded movements from the arms, hands and even fingers that might cause any hindrance or mistakes to the playing of the music... =)

  • No, your arm need to move, "Hug a tree" and "play from the shoulder" and "use your whole arm" is what i've always been told. If you move your arms as little as possible, the music won't be as powerful as it could be.

  • Different ways of training I guess...Just like US athletes, they won't do that jerking motion while they stretch as they think that will injure the muscles. But Chinese athletes they do that when they stretch. Yup, different ways of training...=)

  • Bravo!

  • How did anyone not rate this 5 stars???

This piece is inhuman. Yeah she made a couple of very, very, very, very, very, very, tiny mistakes - but I'd like to see anyone NOT do that!!!

She is absolutely incredible and should be performing around the world.

  • Awesome, wonderful, beutiful,

  • Majestic piece!!! great pianist!!! outstanding!!!

  • You are a great pianist! Wonderful!

  • She is very good, one day she will probably play like Daniel Barenboim

  • You must be a proud mom! :-)))

  • AMAZING

  • good.

And you are very nice. :)

  • its nice for her age just a little slow but she is young still haha niice vid mate

  • Wrong. The tempo for the 3rd movement is fast or presto. She plays excellently. I can play it too... And I am two years younger.

  • Awesome!!! :) 5stars for sure :))))

    Thomas

  • This is great and not a bit too slow!

  • Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow

  • Just a little slow, but just a little, Fantastic anyway

  • When did she start playing?

  • Comment removed

  • nope

  • @kendiggy shut up

  • Great job!! C# minor is a difficult key, expecially at the tempo required for this piece. On top of that, this movement is loaded with accidentals - making it brilliant in it's magnitude. Keep up the good work!

  • Not to mention the undisclosed requirement to have a hand-span of at least a foot!!

  • Thanks for the ammendment operationcwal789789 - this movement does require at least a ten note span for both hands. This young lady must have an incredible phonographic and eidetic memory. Keep up the good work girls!!!

  • Well, I have to agree with some comments that have already been posted but I would like also to give you an advice for your daughter... When she plays.. well i don't know but I can feel somehow her fear... She has to let her self, be calm and become one with the rythm and music... I mean relax... you are going to play piano and you have to enjoy it... Don't be so "tight" ... and that's all i wanted to say.. the rest has already been noticed by others ;P

  • Thanks! :)

  • Thats an excellent comment. Often, less experienced players play performances somewhat like a technical exercise, worrying more about not making a mistake than making beautiful music. Everyone does it; it's something only time solves. Either way, this girl is well on her way.

And you're more than welcome. =)

  • Thanks! :)

  • I think it's a fine performance. Just needs a bit more thought to the "shape" of the phrasing. She's a fine player, though.

  • i agree on your comment...she's putting accent on the notes that are not needed to...just wanted to ask ...is she playing in too slow or just the way it is...i think she should play this on a more up beat performance...the first part is very disappointing...

  • also, the key to this movement is to have a very impressive and "musical" begining, as this will set you up for the rest of the piece, so in b.b. 15-20, you have a counterstatement of the theme, proceeding the change into the dominant minor - so make a big deal out of expressing the forte, and then the diminuendo before the change - i think this wil help in setting up any audience (or more importantly, judges) for the rest of your performance. but on the whole, very nice playing.

  • johnnyjjc, I really enjoyed your comments, by the way. You have a musical understanding and insight that's uncommon here. While this piece is very expressive, one must approach it first by examining its mechanical parts without all of the Romantic panting and heaving that often muddies the clarity of Beethoven's works.

Pay close attention to the shape of the opening arpeggios; try to make them one coherent idea leading to the climax. Each is a phrase, and unnecessary accents fragment them.

  • hey, there are many good things about your playing. however, realise that beethoven started to write this movement based not on a thematic idea, but a rhythmic one - you need to therefore have more control over the arpegios (even duration, clear and no accents - you tend to put accents on the note that falls on the beat).

  • I loved it.

  • A masterpiece played by a young master. Amazing

  • you are the youngest person who can play that, congratulations I am 18 and I´m starting to play Adagio sostenuto, i can even imagine how difficult is this piece, anyway, you rock!!

  • my friend from my class played it on the concert perfectly and he is 18 years old :)

  • A bit slow, but I have never seen any 16 year old play with that much emphasize ...... I can appreciate that you took on a song of this magnitude. I was 19 before i even ATTEMPTED learning to play this..

  • A bit slow but you have the courage to perform such a difficult piece on stage and thats something to be proud about.

  • awesome.....that was fantastic.....

  • I like the fact that she does not speed up too much... the performance needs more speed, but its always best to not exceed your possibilities and to play as best as you can. That's why she had no misfires I could listen at once.

  • wonderful performance! 5*****

  • Does she play any other famous pieces? such as campanella? fantasie impromptu? or she only play beethoven?

  • i am starting play this Mvt and it´s really hard, your daughter inspire anyone... i liked her performance. very well.

  • Can I date your daughter lannie?

  • This was played well with clean notes, nice job to performer. ;) Improvements that can be made is to speed this up a little and more sound.

  • Very good, your daughter plays it very well. I especially like the way she plays the bit from 1:00 to 1:20! I usually play it a bit faster, but that's personal off course.

  • holy crap!... I´ve been hearing this song recorded... you know... not live. But holy freakin hell! I never knew this could actually be played that fast, but she needs to add a little emotion to it, you know, like Mozart. That would blow me away.

  • You are right! A little emotion would be perfect, but she is not very comfortable showing her emotion. Hope she'll be able to do it more naturally when she grows older. Thanks a lot for your comments! :)

  • BLA BLA BLA BLA BLAB BBBBBLLLLL;AAAA

  • ha ha ha...

    Thanks for your comments. :)

  • that's all i can say whin i see this video amazing

  • Thanks a lot for watching this video and your comments. I'm very proud of my daughter! :)

  • She played this piece exact and with the right timing. Wow!!! great it took me along time to learn this piece and still have trouble.

  • Thank you very much for your comments. I believe you can play it well with more practice and patience. Good luck to you and look forward to seeing your video playing this piece.

  • Wonderful performance!!!

  • amazing, very nice, very good!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Honestly, amazing. I was so utterly impressed. She is incredible and to play that piece, you have to have some huge amount of talent. Bravo.

  • Thank you very much for your comments. She worked very hard on this piece. I guess all her hard work showed. I'm glad you like her music. :)

  • I think it would be neat to hear and see her play a piece by Reinhold

  • Now if only I can get mine to sound like hers... Brava.

  • Thanks! Glad you like her performance. :)

  • but she shouldnt have been so nervous.. shes remarkably talented... she should be confident... maybe thats y she made those few very minor unnoticable mistakes.. but overall.. shes amazing.. i dnt think theres a word to describe how great she is.. keep it up gurl.. ur a star...

  • I think it is also because of her personality. She is pretty shy, and does not like to show off.

  • wow... her hands move so gracefully.. its lyk theyre floating.. im still on the second movement:P... i hope i play her wen im done but i doubt it.. theres no way my fingers can go tht fast!!

  • Thanks a lot for your comments. :)

Before learning this piece, she didn't know she could play it either. I believe you can do it if you really work hard like her did! :)

She actually did a lot of slow practice even after she had memorized all the notes. It is very important to do slow practice and hand separate to build up solid skills so that you can play well at the real performance.

  • Amazing. It's one of the best performance of this melody. Keep working

  • Thanks a lot for your comments. :)

  • its awesome, but it isnt more faster? anyway, nice performance, and, of course, a lot of respects

  • Thanks a lot for your comments. It's nice to know you like it. :)

  • Holly cow...I only just noticed that this girl is 16. Amazing, no matter what age, but 16..Blimey! Wonderful playing!

  • My daughter worked very hard on this piece, and I'm very proud for her and her efforts.

  • I'm sure you are proud, she's amazing!!!

  • 9,5/10 simply perfect.

  • 9.5/10 simply perfect? Now i'm not a mathematician and I really don't think I need to be one on this occasion but that's totally stupid!! If it's perfect then surely she deseves 10/10?! *shakes head*

    per·fect /adj., n. ˈpɜrfɪkt; v. pərˈfɛkt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[adj., n. pur-fikt; v. per-fekt]

accurate, exact, or correct in every detail

  • Thank you both for your comments. People said that music and math are related. My daughter is very good in math too. :)

  • Umm splendid performance =)

Its almost perfect. Definitely this few minutes of performace is a few years of efforts.

  • Thank you very much for your comments. I'm glad you like her music. :)

  • This is played almost exactly like Alfred Brendel's performance of the song. Great job!

  • Thanks! I'm glad that you like her performance. :)

  • Reminds me of a robot...

  • Thanks for your comments. She spent tremendous amount of efforts. Even though she didn't play perfectly, I'm still very proud of her. :)

  • Perfect. I will be playing this song for my recital as well, and seeing her play it was comforting.

I'm 17 though, but my skill is nowhere near hers so I hope I'll be able to play it to at least of a fraction of her speed and skill.

What's weird though... is I'm asian too (but japanese), isn't it so typical? haha. But really just a great performance, amazing daughter i applaud both you and her.

  • Thanks for your comments. There is no trick for playing this piece well but more practice. Make sure that you practice more on hands separate. Buy a CD or two for this piece, and repeatedly play it as many times as possible. I think you'll be amazed about your improvement soon. Good luck! :)

  • I do play it quite often, I actually bought the song from iTunes haha. Thanks for the advice, I'll try the hands separate as well.

  • wow! that was incredible - completely blown away lol.

i'm a pianist myself and have competed in piano competitions as well! i know how hard it is to play note perfect and to play well!! your daugher did an excellent job!

  • Thanks! :)

  • Congratulations for your daughter. She's simply amazing. ^^

You must be VERY VERY proud.

  • Thanks! :)
