Hah, the most unrealistic thing in this: getting to talk to a doctor directly, while he's going to work, without waiting a month for an office appointment! then again, maybe the UK isn't as bad as the US in that... lol
Man, kudos to the director, lighting designer, and actors for making sure to make a sex scene featuring two beautiful actors completely un-sexy. nicely done.
again, usually Davids sex scenes turn me into a pile of hormonal goo....but nothing about this film is remotely arousing or sexual at all. David does a superb job of demonstrating their new relationship and his misunderstanding. the sex scene esp. its not a love scene. its just sex. hes only getting gratification because he doesnt understand or know how to do anything else.
@Rayningstorms I expect it would be something I'd need to have a sense of humor about. I have a son who has asperger syndrome and sometimes the most difficult moments lead to some of the funniest stories. I am fortunate, though, that my son is the same kid now as he's always been. I can't imagine going through something where someone so close and familiar becomes so different.
My older brother had a brain injury. When he left the hospital he was so different it was unbelievable... DT completely amazes me in this. He plays it so fantastically well; it's heartbreaking.
It brings back all of the memories of how it was with my brother... :'(
I think his performance is amazing and heartbreaking. And i m so sorry that u have to experience this in ur family. This film really shows how terrible such injury is.
seriously, brain injuries suck and David Tennant is unbelievably fantastic in this. I get the feeling he actually spent some time with brain injured people. There's this thing he's doing with his eyes...his eyelids, and I can't quite describe it, like he looks sleepy but it's uneven. One eye more than the other. Anyway, I've seen it in brain injured people. This just makes me want to be more insistent about my family members wearing bike helmets and protecting their brains.
he did meet people with brain injuries just before this. and hes parton of the.... essex (i think) branch of a charity taht supports people with brain injuries.
That's the saddest movie ever. However, they gave us too little introduction, these scenes could've been a lot stronger if we'd seen more of Alan's behavior and character before the accident.
can i have chicken in my sandwich and mayonase....... den she says her bit bout the song den he says again can i have chicken in my sandwick and mayonase i mean come on.... i am close to tears. not just coz its david tennant its the whole point that is heart breaking.:(
I know; it was unromantic and probably emotionally painful for her to just not respond and not enjoy it. I'm getting too caught up in the characters, they are acted out immaculately. Feelin' all their emotions!
David is brilliant in this!! I can't watch it too often, though, as it is so sad and keeps my eyes watering the whole way through! Thanks for posting it here. God bless YouTube and people like you for using it!
What is so sad is that many people experience this everyday, both the person with the brain injury and the loved ones who try to deal with this strange new person. Thanks for the upload. Love David, some of his best acting.
I can not believe that I never watched this when it was on TV, this has had me in tears, David Tennant and Sarah parish work so well together. She got humped by David tennant and she cried, If that was me, I certainly would not cry, well not sadness anyway!!!!!
Thank you so much for uploading this, i originally started watching it when it was shown on tv because it had david tennant in it and it actually really meant something to me...then i fell asleep and missed the last 15 minutes so now i can find out what happens! Thank you!
"Very sad but if David Tenant was on top of me... i tell you, I would not be crying." and " She got humped by David tennant and she cried, If that was me, I certainly would not cry, well not sadness anyway!!!!! "
You might cry if he never looked at you the whole time and you felt like a vessel rather than a lover. This scene was so well done. I think it encapuslated the "new" relationship. He was all impulse and reaction, and they were no long caring, sharing partners.
i keep laughing at the funny bits and his confused expressions and things but then feel really bad because some people have to put up with this for real. I feel for those who actually deal with this in their family.
it is so sad, i almost cried when he got angry with the game and then started weeping himself. the sons were so scared and the wife. for those who actually deal with this i feel for you.
Yes, I'm uploading Part Seven now, but my internet is a bit slow today, and my dad reset the server while I was uploading Part Six, so it took a bit longer than I'd wanted. Don't worry, the entire thing should be up by the end of the day, barring my death or some other major catastophe.

david tennant is an amazing actor;
the way you can watch a show like this & getting more involved with the charcter, rather than the actor, just proves how good he is at his job.
