  • I HAVE A GREAT IDEA FOR A REMAKE OF THIS. IT WOULD BE CALLED "PHANTOM OF THE OPRAH WINFREY". STARING MICHAEL CRAWFORD & OPRAH WINFREY ! WHADDA YA THINK ?

  • RUB - A - DUB REDUB !

  • I love the line

"Will you still play, when all the rest of us are dead?"

  • Thank you so much. I love this version of the overture compared to the weak organ they used for the movie version.

  • @terrorxxxnight I think it is the phantom, if you watched the end. It shows the monkey sitting there, and it kinda flashes back to the past and shows a old guy with the monkey.

  • @SilentSecret10 Yes, because the actor from the silent movie really counts when we're discussing the musical renditions.

  • @SilentSecret10 *you're

  • so wait...im confused...last time i checked gerard butler was starring in this movie? wheres michael crawford in this thing?

  • god i still remember watching this opening on broadway was the best thing i ever saw (The Phantom of the Opera is so great i hope to see the show again rly soon)

  • I meant to say taste I have awful computer skills

  • When I saw the actor who they had play Raoul, I nearly threw up no offense to people who like him he is just NOT my tatse

  • I think chills just ran up and down my spine. Most excellent. :D You did this so well!

  • I didn't realize this was the original overture. i guess you'd need a trained ear but i listened to this then the film version and this version well it reaches into your core versus the film version. the film version is nice but the this one is better.

  • @manosby15 MC was the original. Everyone after is a "copy"

  • @phantomofopera91 Only those who try to imitate him are the copies. Do JOJ or Ramin Karimloo sound ANYTHING LIKE the AWFUL voice of MC? No.

  • What is carlotta holding in her hand durin hannibal?

  • @bomby4130 hannibal's head

  • @bomby4130

    A human head

  • i've watched an interview where michael crawford is talking about doing a film version of phantom (this was back in the 80s) and i SO wish they did a film with him in it. wouldn't that be magical?

  • is a live performance of phantom available on DVD yet?

  • @miiwiiplay i think for as long as its on stage there won't be a dvd because then people wouldn't bother going to the theatre anymore and they would lose out on a LOT of money lol!

  • @brandnewyork48

Awww, that sucks. Phantom isn't playing in Miami currently and I wanna see it BAAAD!!

  • Thanks for making the movie more enjoyable (for me the 2 big problems with the film were Emmy & Gerard, neither had the appropriate training, singing skills or voice types to perform the roles). Now the only problem remaining is that crappy "deformity".

  • And not to mention @demeuredulac, that emmy barely opens her mouth when she sings

  • I think people should appreciate the different sounds, after all, who and who is exactly the same? I liked this song and if someone doesn't, too bad. =) Now, if only people who didn't like it stopped complaning, ah.

  • emmy is not awful!!! i know sarah is better but emmy was not awful

she was quite good at the age she did the movie at: 16

  • to 999christinedaae: ok yeah she was 16 but when she hit high notes, she squeakes them, there are not that strong

  • emmy is just awful. in the theme song, its supose to end in high A but it ended in high E because emmy cant sing that high

  • Well, I suppose the overture is the only piece of music from the original musical that we shall hear in this film.

  • actually no, its the musical version lol.

  • Yes, I realised that after I posted the comment.

  • The film overture is horrible. Too happy sounding, and lacking the eerieness of the original.

  • i love the opening

  • For crying out loud, am I the only fan who enjoys both of the broadway and movie voices?!?!?!?!? Im sick of people complaining!

I love what you did though. A capital idea! I love the re dubs!

  • Raul in the movie really is terrible though.....

  • He's the best singer of them all.

  • @totofan4ever

No your not! Although I prefer Claire Moore and Early Carpenter and the Canadian Cast

  • Comment removed

  • You are an amazing genius!

  • this is about the play version not the movie:

    BEST INTRO EVER!

  • i have full broadways shows up fro yrade if anyonr is inderested

  • These questions are to "phantomofopera91":

1-Were Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford appear was on the Broadway play or was a movie to?

2-If the answer to question 1 is "a movie" were can i buy it or download it?

  • Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford were the original stage Phantom and Christine, and no, they did not appear in the movie. However in these videos i redubbed the songs with their voices!

  • @phantomofopera91

Not quite. They were going to appear in the film when it was first planned in the 90s, but as most phans know, SB and ALW split right around then, so the project was derailed. Sadly...

  • Bravo man! Bravo!

It was an odd piece of casting getting those two leading actors. Neither could sing opera and yet there they were. And backing them up was a very talented cast of supporting actors. It just highlighted how weak the mains were

  • Are you talking about Emmy Rossum, and Gerard Butler, because Emmy Rossum did perform with an opera company when she was little

  • Both to be honest. Emmy Rossum certainly had talent and was very attractive. But I thought they should have gotten someone older and with a more mature voice. She good, but I don't think she was the best choice. the problem is that whoever was going to do it would be compared to Sarah Brightman - as good as Rossum was, she was no Sarah Brightman.

Gerad Butler - lets just say that phantomoftheopera91 was right to replace him with Michael Crawford

  • Emmy was awful. Even Sarah Brightman had a wider range of facial expressions.

  • .....You are my hero.

    Seriously.

Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler made me want to claw my eyes out. Great voices. Not for this genre. Not for this musical.

  • i didnt quite the movies version but i kinda like the hannibal a little

  • Oh God...

This is what Heaven must be like....

Many, many thanks for the time and effort this took.

  • this rules!

  • im not like some expert on this movie..soo i have a question..the old people in the beginning are Roul and the old lady that took care of the phantom?! just making sure im confused!

  • I'm pretty sure that its Raoul and Meg Giry.. by this time im sure madame giry (the old lady) would be dead

  • ohh ok i get it thanks :)

  • @phantomofopera91 i doubt that is meg giry , for 1 meg had no connection to the phantom or the monkey so she would not be buying it but madame giry on the other hand had a big connection to the phantom and might would be buying the monkey for her self or the phantom seeing he is still alive at the end

  • @bomby4130 but madame giry has to be at least 40 in the show/film so that would make her at least 89 if that is her at the auction and don't forget life expectancy wasn't very long for the period that the musical is set in. plus if she is older than raoul then why does he look more decrepid and why is he in a wheelchair, not her? i'm not looking for an argument and your explanation does make sense but the timing of it all just isn't right.

  • @brandnewyork48 yes i understand you completely and the timing wouldnt be right at all but the main reason that im stick w/ why its Madame Gury is that the auctionry namss her by "Madam Gury" thats all im saying, and i like how you didnt jump down my throat about this, like so many have=)

  • @bomby4130 its nice to have a civil conversation every once in a while isn't it? lol!

  • @phantomofopera91 i know its a year later but the libretto/movie companion as well as the auctioneer himself call her Madame Giry, while Meg would be Mademoiselle, and Jennifer Ellison, not miranda richardson

  • @phantomofopera91 err...but they say Madame Giry's name in the auction. And the old man's voice sounds pretty much like the phantom so...oh well, it's still a debate today.

  • yes...it is raoul and madame giry (NOT meg, folks). i thought it might be meg at first, cos madame giry was what, thirtysomething in the main story? but obviously, she's kept herself in *phenomenal* shape with working in ballet...lol

  • better yet, if u have the whole OLCR could u send me it all?

  • I don't think that I exaggerate when I say that this is possibly the best thing that has ever been done by anybody in the history of the world.

Seriously though, know that your efforts are appreciated.

  • This was amazing.

    Great job!!

  • What a great idea to redub this - it must have been a lot of work. Thank you very much! And so far I'd say you managed to put the cuts between the uploads in places where they don't jarr too much.

  • well done--The original Overture is MUCH better than the film version--I found it was lacking the power in the film, but the original version always gives me chills!

  • I'm glad you noticed it was the original overture!

  • Cheers, Well I know the original by heart, but 2 things would otherwise have given it away for me: 1) The power of the music (something I found the movie lacked) and 2) the original cut off at the end--none of that extended crap they added to the orchestrations :P

  • Whoaaaa... This is exactly what I'd have loved to do. Thanks!
