Very great and useful information Chris. I have been using MIRC for quite some time now since I switched my server over from Ustream chat to WyldRyde. I think you should act like you have common sense. Respect the persons room your in. Read the rules first. Dont be a spammer and not argue with the ops. They are there for a reason. I definitely think this topic needs to be re-emphasized more. Especially since more and more people are starting to use an irc client.

Please, please stop calling IRC a "chat room". Hurts my brain and it's very y2k and "media friendly". Nice to see people get some education into different medias for interaction etc. IRC is a very simple tool for that. We use it at the office too within the company's own IRC server. Everyone is in there.
