  • really cretive really liked the idea. badly enuf if i do this in the netherlands ill get a ticket

  • dum

  • this is rubbish

  • Cool, I don't have any mirrors on my 1966 Triumph but would certainly use this method if I had!

  • That's very smart

  • ive ridden without wing mirrors for a year and a half. suck my dick retards.

  • Very cool idea!! I have a nuvi 205 I use on my bike...but I use the small suction cup mount and attach it to my gauge cluster glass. It fits neatly under the wind screen then...and pretty much out of the weather should get caught in some rain. Also..I hooked up a 12v puwer supply to my battery, and put a usb charger port in it..and ran a usb cable to the front of my bike, and up behind my gauge cluster...so i can power the gps while i ride

  • This is awesome.

  • For people that may say stuff about safety - in most states, only one mirror is required on a motorcycle.

  • you might as well velcro it to the inside of your visor if your going to be so dangerous as to mount it to a rear vision mirror. no wonder car drivers hate motorbikes so much.

  • now you can make a hairdryer from your bike exaust too, what a scientist! be aware of the cars you cant see cause of your gps...

  • I'd like to stress to the whiners that this was just a temporary solution that I used when I was travelling. Also, you can use a bar-end mirror to take care of that missing left-hand mirror.

  • Surprised at how neatly it sits in and I bet it's fairly stable too. I can't honestly ever seen a situation in which I'd be willing to lose a mirror though. What I've done for mine is run a fused waterproof cigarette adapter to the head end of my bike (in an area where it doesn't get wet, either moving or standing still) off the battery and bought a £30 waterproof universal removable velcro-mounted gps case that sits low in front of my dials. Total cost: £37, time spent, 2 hours mounting.

  • nice for in Hawaii, but overhere in Holland 2 minors, a. if the police sees this you gonna have to remove it at once or pay a big fine and b. more importantly, it rains overhere like 12 months a year so it WILL see a lot of water and c. this is not a joke

  • Please can u tell me whats the type of that GPS and do u need to plug it somwhere? I have scooter honda sh125 and I have no option to plug in any device as a GPS.

  • I would not trust that velcrow..

  • why dont you stick it inside your helmet

  • ms timberland its for people who travel state to state

  • I've been looking for solutions to mount a gps on my bike. I think this is the best and easiest solution. You can charge it at home before you ride. And you wouldn't want to leave your gps at your bike unattended. Thanks for the idea! Will have this on my bike. :)

  • for my speed, and my style of riding, the GPS will fly away and hit some cars on highway like corolla or civic

  • If you put a cigarette lighter adapter on for power you may fry your GPS as the GPS charger has a power reducer built in.

  • a very unique solution to mounting a car gps to a bike. like the sun/rain hood too. ride safe

  • This is very interesting to me since I have a sportbike and that exact gps (nuvi 760) How did you stick the velcro onto the motorcycle mirror? Did you use super glue to stick it onto the mirror???

  • a million different places you could have put this.....ummmm let's go for the mirror? Fail!

  • guys stop complaining already... if u dont like the video or u think its bullshit, then keep it to yourselves. I know its nice to try get people to thumbs up comments but there are limits. Anyways nice video man, helped me a lot :) (y)

  • Tempted to buy a 3rd bar mounted mirror mirror and convert it just as a gps holder...

  • Its ok I guess, I just put my tomtom into the map pocket of my tank bag though, can see it perfectly and plug it into a DIY cigarette lighter I made wired to the battery

  • thats is not good you cant see the morrirow i put my gps on the top on the tank much bettr there than in the mirrow

  • Really bad idea. Why not just stick it in a tank bag or something? Really bad idea.

  • dude your a genius

  • I have made a few homemade mounts but never really though to using the mirrors. Good idea.

  • water proof?

  • i like this mod =D

  • Very imaginative. I was thinking of mounting one in my right mirror and putting a camera on the back of the bike with a display in my left mirror. Your way with the Velcro would be easier and less permanent. That way if I parked somewhere shady I could pull it all off.

  • Hey, very useful velcro is a great invention.

  • awsome yo

  • -upcomingjedi

because you are supposed to turn your head and look over your shoulder.

and that goes for cars too. many people never check their blind spot. just glance at the mirror and start moving over. and those are the people that cause accidents to everytone around them, especially motorcyclists.

  • Sooo if i was going to take a 4 hour trip, is there a way to plug it in while it is mounted?

  • @MsTimberland I used it when I put my bike on a barge and shipped it to another island I wasn't familiar with.

  • @MsTimberland I live in London, so I need and all people in big cities need it.

  • @MsTimberland People who arnt complete gays and actually ride bikes?

  • @MsTimberland

KLR riders (among other dual-sport riders) often do.

  • @MsTimberland alot of people ride motorcycles everywhere dumass bich

  • @MsTimberland - maybe you dont get out enough?

  • @MsTimberland youve honestly never heard of people traveling across country, or riding to a different state. wow you sound sheltered

  • @MsTimberland me as well as hundreds of other people....

  • @MsTimberland

I've been riding for not too long and I must say that I like to go and visit other cities/states or pass the border.

  • @MsTimberland People with a vested interest in seeing what the world has to offer - seeing new things, meeting new people doesn't always happen in the confines of your own city. I travel extensively by bike, and while a GPS is not a necessity by any means, it certainly makes things easier to get from Point A to Point B.

  • @MsTimberland You're a woman, you don't leave the kitchen so you wouldn't understand.

  • @MsTimberland Real bikers.

  • @MsTimberland people who not ride bikes to "be cool" but ride them becuase they love it, and live for it... just sayin..

  • jajajajajajajajajaja.....a la mexicana!!!

  • USE A BLUE TOOTH HEADSET

  • this is not smart..

  • here in Brazil we say that LEG or COCK . cock is like 50 bucks and leg is 100 bucks how much is a ARM and LEG in US???

  • @lipevolcom2 - An arm and a leg means different amounts depending on your financial status. $25 could be an arm and a leg for someone who has nothing. Normally I would say an arm and a leg is usually more money than its worth.

  • @1RiskyRich -- It may cost an arm and a leg (literally) since you have obstructed your view. Safety is a cheap and effective insurance policy.~ Peace

  • Now that you covered the left mirror (most important one), just how do you see that idiot that REALLY wants to pass without changing lanes and push you off the road?

  • @UpcomingJedi You're a Jedi, you should know. Aren't you guys capable of seeing what's behind you anyways? You guys dodge gunshots all the time. What's the big deal dodging drivers? What the hell are you complaining about?

  • @UpcomingJedi lol nice reply

  • @UpcomingJedi IF YOU RIDE SLOW ENOUGH TO LET ANYONE PASS YOU ON THE LEFT OTHER THAN ANOTHER BIKE, YOUR ALREADY RIDING DANGEROUS.........FAST AND FURIOUS ALL X'S

  • @UpcomingJedi put it on the right mirror if your so touchy about the left mirror

  • easier way is to epoxy a mount to the windshield, and attatch it from there, this way u can run a wire to charge it, better to have a smoked windshield or the epoxy will show, cheaper and easier than replacing a side mirror and its immune to the wind pressure that some rear view mirrors cant handle

  • Ghetto!!!!!

  • what a stupid idea!

  • very nice

  • this is cool and fast fix but i would need both mirrors for long trip, sat nav needs charging form time to time so this caould be a problem in your version.i have garmin nav on my nokia 5800,using phone holder ziped with ties to handlebar, ran nokia car charger as close as possible, now changed bike for zzr1400 and handlebars are different so looking for some custom holder fited in to hole in the middle of handlebars

  • what about seeing behind you?.... this is a good idea, however I'd value seeing stupid car drivers coming up my nearside rather than having the satnav there.... just my 2 pennies worth!

  • umm buddy....watch you get in a wreck and the root cause will be that stupid GPS, not very smart..... You should know better.

  • Very creative but not really safe. You really need your mirrors on both sides.

  • Mirrors are FUNDAMENTAL for safe driving in city environments, your solution is not acceptable neither as occasional. Furthermore, if you consider that a definitive mount (like ram mounts) is a cheap purchase, why to try exotic and dangerous solutions?

I say it again: to ride a motorbike without one of the two mirrors is like to have one eye blind. Nothing one could like for sure...

  • make a custom headphone wire run down the arm, through the frame and up your back into your helmet and it would be able to hear turn directions. great cheap mod!

  • This is sort of the ideas I like very much. Its really great option to do it but as somebody mention before it is illegal in most of the countries and if there is a police car behind you those f***ers can easily spot it on your mirror and give you a fine. More likely during night driving.. be carefull with that.. but worth consider this option...

  • thats a sweet idea, it really is sleek

  • Neat, but illegal in most parts of the world, since you have to have two mirrors.

I wouldn't want to drive without a left hand mirror.

    Cheers

  • @chopperace I have not had mirrors on bike bikes for years let alone just one.

  • I've got a tomtom 930 car GPS using a RAM mount all of £20-00 or less than $20-00. I place the tomtom in a small transparent plastic bag if it rains. I'd rather have my rear mirror and good observations than $20-00

  • You can get a cheap cigarette adapter too... I just spliced the wires & connected it to the battery. Then I ran it with an extra charger & a bunch of other wires up to the tac (so i know it wouldn't get too hot). ... then you got power on your gps :-D.

  • lifisgood070 - I considered that for a long term solution, but frankly, I think I'm due for a TomTom Rider2 motorcycle GPS for my next bike. I like the idea of mounting a cigarette adapter to the bike, since there are tons of other stuff I could power, such as my Kodak camera!

  • @lifeisgood070 lol spliced the best word ever lol

  • @lifeisgood070 that wud be great, but then again we have to hear a half face helmet :p

  • cheers for this you stopped me from now tearing my hair out i got a bar end mirror and i now can mount my GPS to the mirror cheers problem solved :)

  • madbiker53 - Hey, can you tell me what bar end mirror you ended up getting? I'm trying to avoid dropping $100 on one... there must be cheaper ones out there...

  • i just went on E, bay and entered bar end mirror paid about £30 for a pair from a guy with a shop in japan got em inside of a week aswell :)

  • That's a pretty neat way to install your gps w/o special mounts. Maybe you could mitigate the loss of the mirror somewhat by adding a small fish-eye type mirror?

  • zenpokaiten - Yeah, I was thinking of putting a bar-end mirror, so that should fix the problem.

  • havedogwillscooter - It will still work on round mirrors, even though the mirrors may be smaller. The velcro does a great job holding things together.

  • Thanks Rob.

  • cool, thanks for that idea.

  • Perfect job! That is a fantastic idea. Thanks

  • Awesome! Great job. I wouldn't do this since I'd miss the mirror very much, but it does inspire me to try dream up similar velcro-based solutions.

  • Nice idea, one critisim I do have is of the ease of attachment/removal. The problem with leaving a GPS attached to a parked motorcycle are evident. Nice idea though!

  • Muttley196 - Yeah, this was just a temporary / occasional solution. We were on another island and got lost looking for the right resort... I didn't want to whip it out unless I had to.

  • Very innovative. :^)

  • Awesome idea...5 stars to you...

    Good Job!

  • Wicked idea Rob, nice ;-)

  • Very clever. I just bought a gps for my car about the same size as yours. I wanted to use it for my motorcycles and was starting to think of ways of mounting it. Like you, I did not want to spend the 4 to 5 hundred dollars for a special motorcycle gps. Is there any reason you picked the left side as oppose to the right mirror? It seems that you would need the left side more often unless you are constantly driving in the speed lane.

  • cashstore1 - Very good question. I didn't even think about addressing that. I'm right handed, and prefer to use my right hand if I could. However, the clutch side of the bike is on the left, and I find that's the hand that's usually free. I rarely take my right hand off the gas / brake.

  • that is such a good idea! thanks for a sharing :o)

  • great quick fix nice concept

  • Firsty First First!!!!!
