  • Anyone Know about Jeff Lynne's New Solo Album?

  • @10995 I'm hearing Summer 2011...

  • Who is the woman in the arm chair theater videos?

  • It's geoff, not jeff.

  • what a great tune

  • YES!

  • This a great song (my personal favorite from Armchair Theater) and deserving of a much better video

  • I love ELO and Jeff Lynne!!!!!! Bad Ass musicians...Jeff Lynne is one of the greatest song writers of all time!!!!

  • Is everyone else from the Traveling Wilburys in the rock and roll hall of fame?

  • @sjk72 ...Yep. Everyone except Jeff.

  • @digitalsnow Jeff definitely deserves to be there too! I can't believe he isn't there already....

  • Q: Why is Jeff Lynne NOT in the Rock Hall Of Fame???

A: Because Jann Wenner is a prick, and he hates Lynne's guts.

  • Somebody call up Mr. Lynne and tell him to go on tour!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Somebody call up Mr. Lynne and tell him to go on tour!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Top tune that stays in your head

  • Top tune that stays in your head

  • Heard this at the end of "Deuce Bigalow" WOW!!!

  • Why he's not in the hall of fame defies all logic to me. All you seem to get now on the radio and tv is mindless, flat and sterile celebrity music that shoots out of Simon Cowell's shithole. I'm off now for a big fat reefer!

  • @Calpenpift Don't make me laugh. The hypocrisy of that place is a joke. Better for Jeff to stay far away from the snobs in it.

  • Me encanta esta cancion-- la oi por primera vez en la peli de Gigoló hehe!

  • thumbs up!

  • Wikipedia states this single failed to chart when released. I wonder why??? Its such a great song, I bet if it was released, it would do good.

  • 2010 is going to be a great year for Jeff Lynne fans....stay tuned!

  • Love this song..been looking for it. Anyone knows how i can have its MP3 downloaded? How and where?

  • I found it using LimeWire and downloaded it for free.

  • I will upload for you, if you want. Write me.

  • 1990s computer graphics at its finest. :=)

  • 1990s computer animation at its finest. :=)

  • this song is from Deuce Bigalow...haha

  • Is this song on itunes?

  • I tride looking it up, but it dosn't seem that they have it ):

  • That sun is so baked at 2:53

  • Ho ho, this video was considered amazing at the time - cutting edge computer graphics in those days. I remember being impressed by them. All done on an Amiga I believe.

  • Very nice song/arrangement and the video isn't bad.

  • George Harrison's slide guitar comes in at the end

  • I know an insider who has heard a sneak preview of a couple of the new Jeff Lynne tracks. The only thing he would say is that we should be prepared to be completely blown away.

  • Yeaaaaaaah!

  • que recuerdos! mi adolescencia...Jeff Lynne mi heroe

  • Jeff's a real genius and one of the nicest guys in the music biz!

  • Keep up with the latest news regarding Jeff's new solo album, as well as his work with Regina Spektor ,on the ELO Forever Forum!

  • I liked this ! I t's pretty new for me because it's not my generation at all but i like this !

Does somebody know other groups in the same mood plz ?

  • Great News! A new Jeff Lynne solo album later this year. Stay tuned!

  • Woot!

  • i have the Tom Jones version of this song. no idea Jeff Lynne wrote this..

then again, i never knew Exene was married to Aragorn either! LOL

  • I swear that man does not age, like Dick Clark.

  • Great song¡¡ terrible video¡¡¡

  • На заре компьютерной графики клип Джеффа смотрелся. Сейчас бы вряд ли с его талантом он снял бы подобное, все давно изменилось.

  • One of favourites off Armchair Theatre.

  • OMG!!

    OMG!!!

I recorded this track off the radio in about 1991 and had no idea who sang it...... until now!...

  • Comment removed

  • It's not on the liner notes but you can deffinately hear George singing backing vocals. WHY ISN'T JEFF IN THE ROCK-N-ROLL HALL OF FAME?

  • He IS Rock-n-Roll to me! Legend. Many people miss Jeff Lynne out and don't know anything about him. But when you look at his input on music, it's huge.

  • Jeff Lynne is one of the most underrated artisits out there. My favorite producer and truly the fifth Beatle. Is there any proucer out there who can get that guy's snare sound? I think not!

  • Hey Mr. Lynne, I just wanted you to know that Roy Orbison came out with an awesome Rock Band 2 DLC pack, so I think that you need to come out with one. I think it would be an awesome hit!

  • Why hello i'm Jeff lynne and thats a great idea and little do peopel know that i always go on youtube a look at responces to videos I'm in. tra-la-la-la-la

  • JL 4EVER!!!!!!

  • One day 2 therapists were having lunch.

Jeff's specialty was sports injuries and

    Lynn worked in head trauma.

After hearing him "talk" about himself

for over an hour, lynn looked at Jeff and said

    "yep I know whatcha mean!"

all flabbergasted she could understand his predickament, jeff said, Lynn you ain't got a clue!

Lynn, replied "hell, i do too!

you ever tried teachin' a brain-damaged,

above the knee amputee how to kick a football?"

  • My god these guys rock !!! Still # 1 of all time !

  • I love this song at the end of Duece Bigalow

  • exactly what I said, fuck that was a funny movie.

  • it always seemed stupid to me but i recently watched it and decided i really really like it

  • man, that would suck if he is a prick.

  • Didn't Tom Jones have a version of this?

  • yes

  • This video ruins this song for me.

  • +1 without any doubt

  • I think i was obsessed with this video when I was 5 (when it came out.) I really liked the planes, and this is a pretty good song.

  • I believe the album from which this song is on, "Armchair Theatre", is supposed to be Wilbury's Two. Has anyone else heard this?

  • No, the Wilburys did have 2 albums. This is Mr. Lynnes' first solo album. Has done solo work before (Electric Dreams soundtrack) but this was an entire solo effort. Has a couple of nice covers on it too! (Stromy Weather being one)

  • He did solo work before Electric Dreams as well. He provided an amazing song for 'All This And World War II' and he released his first solo single, 'Doin' That Crazy Thing'/'Goin' Down To Rio', in 1977

  • thanks for the info, thought i was all knowing in the JL catagory, i stand corrected and informed. never heard of that 1977 single, must be impossible to get would love to hear it. thanks!!

  • I upped it on my vids

  • There are many theories as to what Wilburys 2 really was (their two albums being named Volume 1 and Volume 3) and I think Armchair Theatre was one of the possibilities. This is a god song, but a very bad video!

  • The reason George Harrison wanted to skip #2 was a sort of tribute to Roy Orbison, since he was such a big part of the first album.

  • Im pretty sure that Wilbury's volume2 was actually a single of of volume3. I think the song was She's My Baby. The Wilbury's were a great thing in music for the short moments they lasted

  • I loveeeee this song.................!!!!!

  • extraño caso el de las cosas o personas que uno ama sin conocerlas personalmente¡viva la musica, la melodía , la estética y el talento de la ELO!

    ricky

  • a great one!!!!!in travel,(I think)!!

  • I love your music Jeff!

  • Deuce Bigalow, I knew I heard this before.

  • Lift me up. finish what you started. He sends a strong message to god. would you agree?

  • TheRavenHawk (3 months ago) Show Hide 0 Marked as spam Reply | Spam Lift me up. finish what you started. He sends a strong message to god. would you agree?

    Oh, totally.

  • I have always loved this song...beautiful. I remember playing Armchair Theatre over and over and eventually wearing out the cassette tape. Happily I have it on CD now.

  • venderstrat: Same here, and right at the end of the tape after a lot of white noise was an additional recording that said ..... "It's still going you know".

The first time I heard it, it frightened the life out of me.

  • God, this is a great song! When I first had the cd my finger got worn out from constantly pushing 'replay'. One of the great things I adore about YouTube--almost all of my favorites from every genre, from the 60's through today--all in one place and just a moment away. I'm spoiled and I love it!

  • Lynne was one of the many artists who were told "3-D is where it's at" five or ten years before Toy Story came out in theaters.

Dire Straits had the same thing happen with "Money for Nothing", only since that song came out during the band's peak, that video's a cult classic.

Meanwhile, "Lift Me Up" sort of suffers. I'd like to know the company who did the graphics, just to see what they do today.

I love this song, along with the rest of the album, but I think Lynne has a thing for bad timing.

  • I mean, his second solo album/ELO tribute; Zoom came out two months before 9/11.

    That just sucks.

And during the period when Armchair Theatre came out... Every Little Thing made the top ten, but in 1990, Lynne's genre sort of died out.

Again, I'm still looking for this album though, it'd be nice if it was remade for some sort of 20th anniversary or something in the future

  • Yeah, it's hard (almost impossible to get). Worth finding though.

  • Jeff inherited the Beatles' geniuses of turning a very simple tune into a masterpiece. I don't how they did it or Jeff does it, but it always amazes me. Great song !!!

  • Great producer and Musician!

  • there are so many good songs called lift me up

  • A cracking song from the master songwriter.

  • This is real class - Jeff's style is immediately recognisable. Thanks for posting!

  • This song was in the movie Deuce Bigalow Male Gigalow.

  • Genius!!! Is Jeff on a tour?? Im from argentina....waiting....

  • Have you ever heard the b-sides to this single? There are 2 of them: Sirens (a strange instrumental) and Borderline (a nice acoustic one). The b-sides are nice, but Lift me Up sure beats them any day!

  • Love the lyrics. The music itself is phenomenal.

Even if the graphics are horrible and obsolete by today's standards, I think this is an extremely awesome 90's video.

Makes me wish the Armchair Theatre album was more common these days, let alone on iTunes. Thanks for posting this!

  • Your the only prick mate. How dare you sya that. Bev and Kelly are and will always be friends of Jeff.

  • The Master at work!! the greatest recording producer ever ;)The harmonies are a bit too tight on this though.

  • jeff lynne.the third beatle.but better than lennon and mc cartney

  • These computer graphics were considered fantastic at the time. It hasn't always been 2008 you know.

  • I was going to tag it with peanut butter, screwdrivers and Ann Coulter...

  • I like his rock 'n' roll better. This is just a pop eighties song.

  • nothing wrong with pop.

  • I've played my cassette of this since 1990 and it's still going strong!! He's gorgeous.

  • Love this album! Should have had much greater success.

  • What an incredibly catchy song to me.

  • Jeff, both solo and with ELO was awesome!

  • Jeff probably said,If I have to do a video then hurry up and I'll do it. Promoting was not what he liked much.

  • today is my bday

  • happy birthday then!

  • There can only be one Jeff Lynne.

He has made music evole into the 21st Century.

    A true 21st century man.

  • I will be so happy when Jeff releases a new album, just as happy as when Yusuf Islam released An Other Cup. I was in heaven:) *Wishing*

  • Jeff Lynne is one of a kind!

  • I can hear Harrison's guitar! Well sounds like it.

  • It's George on slide, yes.

  • I thought so too, but if you listen to the interview with Gavin Serin from the Zoom launch, you'll hear Jeff saying that George had told Jeff to "play it yourself- you're good enough" on Armchair Theatre, but George DID play on Zoom (notably "Long Time Gone").

If you have better info to the contrary, I am happy to listen - I am not one of the YouTube morons who delight in shooting people down, just hoping to help.

  • probably my alltime favorite Jeff lynne song...simply great

  • there r 3 types of musics. 1 is pop 2 is rock 3 i s ELO

  • 'Armchair Theatre' is a awesome solo from Jeff! Whats a pity, that the second solo-album never released!

  • Just Magic from Jeff. Music is his forte.

  • great song

  • Every Album of ELO is good.Jeff Lynne ist Genius.

  • Manyfew2010... Jeff Lynne has never been ashamed of writing "commercial songs", and you have to admit that he can write a tune!!

Getchasumm... sounds like jealousy to me... look at Kelly now (where's he working again? lol), and Bev.. Ok good drummer, but only 'cos of ELO (or JL.. basically).

I guess you can tell I'm a Jeff Lynne fan lol

  • what? i didnt say he had "commercial songs". I just was wondering what kind of music it was. idk where u got commercial from.

  • Really amazing song and what a solo from george Harrison at the end WOW!

  • just great

  • JEFF LYNN RULES!!!

  • what genre of music is this?

  • I'd define it as power pop.

  • Kelly works waiting tables at a greasy diner in Birmingham, so you should have no trouble finding him. :D

  • Zoom is a good album. If you are a big fan and really like ELO, you'll like Zoom.

  • The Video in a way almost reminds me of the background in Space Harrier

  • i have know jeff lynee for 21 years, and i am 21! He is the coolest ! I can never get sick of his songs, ELO, The Move, his solo work. I grew up with this stuff, thanks dad for introducing me to this awesome guy.

  • I thanks also your dad for the next generation of Jeff-fans! You can tell this your dad!

  • Jee Lynne is the man. I grew with him on my radio.

  • Jeff Lynne is my musical hero He can do no wrong ELO, Traveling Wilburys or solo work He is sure to rock with the best of them. I wish I had Jeff's singing voice he has serious vocal power! We Love ya Jeff!

  • My favorite artist next to The Bee Gees.

  • I play this full blast in the car on the way to work when it gets to "lift me up" i am bouncing in my seat....Jeff Lynne thank you

  • Yeah, if this is syrup, then syrup is really nice! The video isn't that good, but the song is lovely, Jeff Lynne is a musical genius.

  • over-rated cany fluff!! I need to brush my teeth after hearing this syrup!

  • syrup is good. we like the syrup.

  • this video tosses my ass it's so rad

  • jeff lynne was elo and still is elo.jeff the genius

  • Leave penny alone. Jeff IS a bit of an ass, the way he turfed most of the orchestra to the wind! Now how does he tour?

  • It's a Great Great Song, but the video is a tribute to Sega Station.

  • I love anything that Jeff Lynne does. He IS a musical genius and is vastly underrated.

  • y'know what would be nice? to watch one elo video and not have to read pennyloafer crying about bev and kelly. get over it, bands break up and move on!!

  • Jeff Lynne whether Solo or with ELO or the Wilburys, Unbeatable, why do we not hear more from this genius?

  • Jeff Lynne & ELO is still my #1. And Traveling Wilbury`s off course :)

  • Jeff Lynne should be in the rock n roll hall of fame!!

  • That an interesting thought. Jeff Lynne and ELO probably deserves to be in the hall of fame.

  • So, is Pennyloafer ACTUALLY Kelly G? Because I can't imagine anyone else loving that freak more than Kelly himself.

  • I doubt that. lol.

  • Lots of fun things going on in the video. Watch Jeff's race car landing in a tree.

  • great song into a great album!

Lynne still underestimated! I don't know why! Thanks to his song, I kissed a pretty girl! Thanks U, Jeff;)

  • JEFF IS A MUSICAL GOD!

  • Great song. I'm surprised it hasn't been covered more. Someone might and will probably make them and Jeff some serious cash.

  • Tom Jones did a cover version of it and Jeff produced it. Jeff's is more souful.

  • he left Kelly G., Bev, etc for this schlock??? please!!!

  • This song stands up well with the best ELO material. Have you heard any of the ELO Part 2 material? Now that's schlock!

  • He is the man...

  • hello pennyloafer, your comments are so funny! i agree whith you abaut elo, bye from buenos aires

(you always make me laugh!!, by the way whats abaut jeff? we have no news in b.a. bye)

  • ELO are one of the greatest bands in pop music history!Jeff Lynne is a songwriter on par with Lennon, McCartney and Dylan.

  • Great song, the best from his 1990 solo album! How I love these kind of tunes ...

  • An amazing song.. I love Jeff's "Armchair Theatre" solo album (as well as all the Traveling Wilburys & ELO stuff, but that's a given :D ). I would've posted this video myself, but my file is too big, 162MB.. better quality though. Fantastic song anyways :)

  • he allways did look like a cross between billy connelly and noel edmonds

  • ...and how come Jeff looks like Billy Connolly in this vid???

  • Not too sure about the video but this is without doubt the greatest song that Jeff Lynne ever penned. Marvellous.

  • Awww man what a great song!!
