  • i think all of u that talk such shit are retarded !! dont speak ..just listen !!! easy !!

  • I wish all this fucking Justin Bieber bullshit would get removed from youtube.

  • VERVE

  • If this band came out in the 60s they would've been as big as the Beatles and Stones.

  • Amazing!

  • all these advertisments before every video i pull up r fuckin retarded

  • all these advertisments before every video i pull up r fuckin retarded

  • @Brenden0214 They WERE huge lol

  • Did this video steal ideas from Oasis' Supersonic and Champagne Supernova or was it vice versa?

  • @alcor805 This was years before What's the Story morning glory..

  • @TheVerve480 yeah but supersonic was also years before morning glory...

  • I wish they'd directed the crowds when they were huge back to their earlier stuff, it's scandalous that A Storm Heaven only sold a fraction of what Urban Hymns did. This and the stuff off A Northern Soul is amazing.

  • Check out, 'Convalescence Kid: Nothing left to lose'

    Awesome :)

  • This is music.

  • I can't believe the same band that made Bittersweet Symphony made this! I mean, I love that song. But this,....this is something else :)

  • @Luke5119 i think this is most interesting face of verve. symphony is more easy, not bad but a little commercial¿don´t you think? i reccomend you listen Kucky man, History, drugs don´t work, and things from cd gravity grave. Listen Break the night with colour.....for me symphony it´s the rare song and very different from the mood of this group. Bye!

  • @slvbrnl2 - I've heard all those songs already :) The Verve definitely have a wide range in how their songs sound from their early work to their later work.

  • @Luke5119

thanks your answer. I agrre totally with you.Theres is a large path between the first verve and the last only Ashcroft. It´s incredible way. And I like all of them.I think drugs are more present in their first cds¿don´t you?it´s a pain i can´t listen it with a great.....must be politely. i´ve discovered them a week ago, and cannot separete from them. bye Luke

  • NICK FUCKING MCCABE.

  • Richard Ashcroft has the sexiest lips ever. That said, i don't understand how this band wasn't a huge success. IMO they coud have put up a good fight against the Beatles.

  • Amazing song, has so much depth to it :) Reminds me of Jane's Addiction a little. Early 90's Alt Rock like this was genius.

  • Absolute proof that the drugs do work, this is just exquisitely beautiful. A Storm In Heaven is one of the all time great psych albums, and this really belongs on it. Shame they stopped the psych stuff and went all mainstream, still came up with the occasional gem like Weeping Willow and Appalachian Springs but nothing since has matched Storm In Heaven as an album.

And they are Verve, forget the "the" prefix forced upon them by a threatened lawsuit by that jazz label, VERVE !!!!!!!!

  • Odd video....and I have to say he looks MUCH better with shorter hair! But I love their music!

  • @Brenden0214 RPA (My Cusion) He had gotten trapped between all of the Big British band there are now. He was givin a chance to step up and play and go big, but there were so many bands that stood in front of him. I was about 4 when he wrote Lucky Man and I carry that song through out my life.

  • @ThePrefontaine Fuck off you fantasist creep

  • @Brenden0214 THEY RE ...FOR THOSE WHO REALLY UNDERSTAND THE MEANINGS OF MUSIC....JUST LIKE RADIOHEAD....ONLY A FEW PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THEIR SOUNDS....THEIR FEELINGS...JUST A FEW MATE...CHEERS FROM BRASIL

  • @rdtli Brazil knows about this stuff? nice! and that coming from America, I thought I was alone!

  • @anothergunner yeah dude...rock n roll was and is live and kicking in brazil...specially in southern brazil...the north of my country enjoy more samba and brazilian folk music...but são paulo state , rio grande do sul state , rock n roll kicks asses....myself in a private way think and always used to enjoy rock n roll , all kinds....you certainly would be surprised with my cd s collection...cheers mate.

  • @rdtli I would love to see your record collection. :D

  • @anothergunner acdc everything ... dire straits...led zeppelin .....lynyrd skynyrd....deep purple.....bad religion...radiohead.....the verve..... rush....metallica ,,motorhead....and a lot more..original cd collection...cheers dude

i have 750 more original cds rock n roll collection....that s historic and epic....

  • @Brenden0214 There were one of the most innovative of the British pop era in the early 90's, releasing songs "All in my mind" "Gravity Grave" (this one). She's a superstar actually hit the UK charts, which put them on the map. Then they came out with their 1997 overnight success "Bitter Sweet Symphony" topping over top 20's on over 15 major charts; where they forever guaranteed their spot in music history.

  • @m14lover1

    american idiot

  • @TheMrbollox you know your profile pic? well back at you you s.o.b

  • @m14lover1 what the hell are you talking about? everything the verve has ever put out is good especially the earlier stuff.

  • This song is a total dream! <3

  • sad to hear the great early Verve material and then listen to ashcrofts solo material. Oceans apart in quality.

  • a bit reminds me smashing pumpkins

  • i hate how they went from shoegaze to mainstream

  • to me they are the male version of mazzy star

  • Man, this brings back memories of good times. Love the band, great music, one of the most impactful live bands on the scene.

  • They became a one hit wonder band after Urban Hymns. And it's a damn shame because they created without a doubt some of the greatest, most blissful overlooked sounds of the 90's. I recall hearing A Storm in Heaven for the first time years ago and being blown the fuck away. Then when I heard everything else, that's when I realized just how amazingly overlooked this band really was and still is.

Seriously, some of the best music I've ever heard.

  • great great

  • @Brenden0214 I think The Verve can come off being a bit pretentious. In my opinion thats possibly one of the things that might of worked against them becoming a huge world wide act, There's a lot of bands I wonder that about. I think it's a reflection on the poor taste in music the masses have.

  • Comment removed

  • great song ;D

  • the best - and so say allllllll of us!

  • @Brenden0214 i looked them up on wikipedia and was told they were the biggest band in the world at one point when bittersweet symphony suddenly went worldwide

  • @craig94music The Verve were not huge. They had one huge song. U2 is huge. The Verve is not. Don't get me wrong huge or not doesn't reflect quality.

  • @eliassailor u2 are stupid dicks

  • @20cFilmWannabe U2 being "stupid dicks" has nothing to do with the fact that they are huge. That's not an opinion. It's a fact! I can't stand U2 btw but that doesn't change the fact that they are one of the biggest rock acts of the past 20 plus years.

  • @Brenden0214 they are huge?

  • @Brenden0214 but they were m8 no disrespect

  • @Brenden0214 the verve were massive !!!!

  • From my hometown. Fucking fantastic band.

  • For me they were one of the best 90's bands till Urban Hymns, though i like it. Space Rock and Shoegaze, great convination

  • If the verve stayed together long enough they would have easily been the biggest band in the world after the Urban Hymns Album

But sadly egos in the band stopped that from happening :(

  • @MrRandleini01 what happen to them, do they still singin?

  • @sickjackpsychohill they had their own problems and broke up not long after this awesome album. The lead singer Richard Ashcroft has done his solo stuff and has started a new group

  • @MrRandleini01

This was on The Verve E.P (1992), I thought their first split came after A Northern Soul (1995), then a second split after Urban Hymns (1997, but they officially split in 1999), then split again after Forth in 2008.

In June 2010's edition of Q magazine Ashcroft says he and Verve won't reform again for a long time, if ever.

  • @thechosen2010 yeah they did break up after Northern soul but Ashcroft asked Mccabe to restart the verve back up in early 97

  • their early stuff like this was just magic......... :)

  • They were SUPER huge.. Not really here in the States. But most definitely in Europe and its surrounding countries. Long live The Verve. They don't make music like this anymore..

  • my favvvoourit

  • these guys were so much better in the early days before they became Richard Ashcroft's backing band on "Urban Hymns"...the actual band songs-"Come On", "the Rolling ppl" and "Catching the Butterfly" are still my favourites on the album...that said, it still is a great record - it's just not as good as the old ep's and their first two albums...

  • Cialis maybe

  • Barret Jr. Richard Ashcroft is simply a gift to all that listen. Very epic. thankful much?

  • do u guys think this band ever took the drug LSD

  • Is that a rhetorical question?

  • who knows. they make glorious music right?

  • You're right they weren't huge.

But they did have quite a big following

    when they were together.

Saw them in Seattle around the time of

Urban Hymns. They filled a big stadium

    quite nicely!

  • they were a little too cutting edge for Viacom-their good stuff was never featured by MTV. Consider the source. Lady Gaga didn't get big until Paris Hilton introduced her. Coldplay didn't get huge until Gweneth Paltrow dated Chris.

We need a real medium for music or somebody to promote the new stuff.

  • song totally reminds me of the show Californication. anyone else?

  • She's in air

    drugs in the air alright

  • I payed the bills, she took those pills it was wind in her sails....

  • love how their earlier stuff like A Storm in Heaven and The Verve EP has that shoegaze and psychedelic feel just a very mellow sound that just drifts

  • he reminds me Syd ... dont'you? God bless english music

  • the verve is perfect bud smoken music, mushrooms etc. such a smooth mellow vibe, ya know

  • Yeah they are pretty awesome

  • In this video he looks just like Micheal Jackson. I love this song and he looks so young here. I know what you mean. This song rocks. Richard's the same age as my auntie Christine. A very Micheal Jackson lookalike here.

    Anna

  • @LeBonsgirl HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE MICHEAL JACKSON!!!!!!!

  • @19nimweypey97 All he needs is a leather jacket and one, glittery glove...He and MJ have the same hairstyle - LOL.

  • one of their most powerful songs. amazing guitar work.

  • I'm doing drugs tonight..

..Il be back on here soon

  • I always feel like a druggie when I listen to The Verve....

  • You are a druggie.

  • This is so drug fucked, love it!!

  • july 10th 1991....watched these in birmingham..there were 50 people crammed in a small room,,,one of the best gigs ever.

  • i did miss you a lot; i dont want you to wait for me for who knows how long

  • LeBonsgirl: SHUT UP!

  • Exactly!

  • Chciałoby się polecieć wysoko...

  • Richard Ashcroft is so young here. I really love this song. I am Tessa. I love this song. He has to be the best ever. I remember seeing the album 'Urban Hymns' with my mum and she said 'He's the same age as me!'. Well she said it back in 1998 when she first saw the album cover. Gorgeous. Very Mick Jagger lookalike

    Tessa

  • I'm the same age as Richard. He's a great musician. I'm 38 and he'll be 38 on the 11th of September. At 0:39 that's really him! It's Richard i am so serious. I think he looks so short. I wish i knew him. This song is beautiful. I could kiss him. I was 21 when this came out

    Christine

  • This song has to be the best ever. I am Eva and he's the same age as my mum Christine. I really love this song. The face looks creepy but still this is the best.

    Eva

  • The Verve are the best britpop band ever. I love this song. He's the same age as my auntie Christine. She always loves Richard a lot. He looks like a younger John Hume of Evermore. You can recognize his face. He's so cute

  • Comment removed

  • It's ok, im sure you didnt mean it tht way, a fan wouldnt!. Yeah, but im just glad hes managed without them :D

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, Nick is a genius :) But Blue Pacific Ocean is more Storm In Heaven-style and probably my favourite thing they've done since they reformed

  • "richard ashcroft is my friends second cousin".

I'm not doubting it, but so what? Who knows their friend's second cousins? I don't know any of my friend's second cousins. Basically you have no connection to Richard Ashcorft what so ever.

  • Uh, when did i say i had a connection?

I was backing up facts. And i know all of my friends family. because we're close, does it matter?

  • so why dont you go play hide and go fuck yourself?

  • Is this a new track?

  • 1992 i think if not corrected

  • For goodness sake!!!

  • Richard was only 20 here. He looks so much like John Hume. I could kiss him. His face looks so creepy. That voice is also creepy. I still love this song,

    Roxxi

  • This song's the best and i love this song. At 2:09 that's Richard and he has a Micheal Jackson lookalike there. Micheal Jackson reminds me of Richard in this video. He looks so young!
