The most brilliant thing about this scene is that there's no music playing whatsoever until Beth dies. All of your jumps and scares were true due to atmosphere, costume and acting. Not one piece of orchestrated music blares at you and insists on you jumping. It's fantastic.
One of the most excellent use of night-vision in a horror movie. You jump right out of your pants.
