Their debut record "touch too much" was top 10, but this their 2nd single got no promotion or even a bbc "top of the pops" telly appearance, which is normal for a band who had a hit single first time out. Arrows got screwed by their label!
This is a brilliant glam power rock song, which sounds like a bit like Blackfoot Sue's "Standing In The Road" and Bo Diddley's "Mona". Why it wasn't a major hit is beyond me.
The chorus is weaker than the rest of the song. I've learned, here on Youtube, that the Arrows had the usual manager/band/record company wrangle... presumably these two factors stopped it from being a major hit, but I'm just guessing.
The record should have been a hit, but wasn't promoted, that's true, but also as you say, the chorus doesn't flow as well as the rest of the song, I agree. The song has a nice groove and then hits the chorus like a car hitting speed bumps, all choppy with stops. I have a bootleg cassette recorded in 1975, and live, the band Arrows played straight through the chorus, no stops. It worked a lot better.
This is a 1974 Mike Mansfield directed promotional video, before his "Supersonic" TV show fame. The single was on RAK records and was the follow up to the Arrows hit single "touch too much".
alan is very best part of them!!! <3

Yeah, the director on the telly show Supersonic always had a limp wrist when he said "CUE". It was his trademark. Talk about advertising:) LOL

This is one of the best tracks on the RPM records Velvet Tinmine album, a decent collection of lost 70s British pop classics.

Velvet Tinmine is a pretty good album. 70s legend Brett Smiley is on it as well as the très fantastique Arrows.
