  • All I got out of this is that you hate women that are thinner than you, and jealous of men for having penises.

  • Damn right! Men are so hypocritical when it comes to women appreciating the male form, it's fucking infuriating. I mean; men ogle women's asses and titties all the time and brag about how they'd "tap that".

But if we girls even DARE to say that Ryan Reynolds or Isaiah Mustafa are sexy and hot, we're immediately called shallow bitches, complete sluts and so on. We're shamed for being attracted to good-looking men, even though that's what a straight woman is supposed to do.

    Fucking hypocrites!

  • I have a crush on a fat white viking like guy \o/ I like big dudes. That's all I gotta say.

  • @linzerdinzertv

The thing is, men in general do not find starved women who look as if they came from a concentration camp to be sexy. These images are mainly focused on the female customer and the reason is to sell these images and products. If women did not buy this stuff, it would not be made all that much. Also, straight men do not dominate the fashion industry, photography, or design, and are not obsessed with youth or extreme thinness.

  • Those women are way too skinny. Walking skeletons aren't sexy. But let's be realistic about the age thing. Most people are not that sexy - male or female - when they hit 40. There's a reason why people look sexy to most viewers when they're in their reproductive prime. I used to look sexier 20 years ago than I do now.

  • and what happend to your mic?

  • @waddleNguin Left it at my sister's house :( We had to do our best without it

  • what happened to your background?

  • @waddleNguin We were switching it up - the red background limits us with how much I can move around the frame - kinda hard to explain why.

  • omggg...i love this!!

  • I used to not pay much attention to my looks, but ever since I got into k-pop, I've become extremely aware of my "imperfections" and feel really inferior to idols; they're just perfect! My weight in particular bothered me a lot. Then, a friend of mine saw SNSD in person, and she said that they (especially Yoona and Sooyoung) look sickly thin in real life; they're literally skin stretched over bones. I felt slightly better afterwards.... (btw, I don't dislike SNSD at all)

  • Pause at 00:36 - LOL your expression!!!! XDDD

  • IMO bashing Bieber or Edward is about shaming women for having sexual fantasies. Women aren't supposed to like or want sex or shlick to Rain's dancing in Love Song.... ahem.

  • Actually it's a myth that women don't ask for raises. There was an article in the Washington Post about it a while back.

  • Just wow. 500 thumbs up.

  • Speaking of posters...I remember how badly I argued with one of my boyfriends because of that. When I was younger I used to have several posters of boybands in my room and he told me that I should take them off because they were "gay looking and they give an unrealistic image of guys that only stupid and shallow girls like". And when I told him to take off his posters of (half-naked) actresses/singers he was extremely surprised and asked me "why?" and said that it wasn't the same case. =__=

  • And a slut walk (not related to videos contents) imo isnt the way to push this information, it undermines the whole thing. Probably made up by some idiot trying to make women look like fools. And no, theres no illuminati :D and those conspiracy nuts dont think its corporations doing this, they believe its satan loving corporations. *sigh*

  • Theres a reason some men think of women who are feminists etc. That they are "crazy" is because some of them act this say. Jean Kilbourne is a wonderful example of how you can be wise and rational about this without letting feelings into this. (very touchy subject so its hard)

  • Some of your words and mannerisms seem malicious towards "skinny white girls" and imo the blame is not on them. It should be directed at the corporations pushing these "fake" photos without telling theyre not real. You expect a 10 yo girl (today) to view the world and the meaning of "reality" the same way that you have been raised up to believe? Not everyone can tell a photoshop photo from not photoshopped. Education is the key

  • like a lot of others, i started watching you for you kpop video reviews (since i'm a big fan of korean pop culture). however, i find this to be one of your most important and compelling videos so far. i completely agree with you, as well. i find that one of the biggest problem for girls is that we actually bring ourselves down by either standards, derogatory comments, or jealousy/hate. we have to stick together rather than bring ourselves down.

thanks again for this great video :)

  • lol after watching this i am tempted to start gaslighting people who bash on edward cullen justin beiber etc :p

  • @lilyand even though i dont support bashing edward/bieber, its still fun to bash them just for the fun of internet memes! i mean, you wouldn't be able to make another joke about sparkling vampires w/o edward anymore, would you?

  • Very interesting topic. I was distracted though. Was the sound done like that on purpose?

  • @RiddleRavenness No it wasn't and I'm sooo sorry about that. I had accidentally left our microphone at my sister's house so we had to shoot with a boom pole leaning on a step ladder. It, uh... didn't work. LoL.

  • @linzerdinzertv like your hair inn this vid, you look really pretty

    much love from Canada

  • Dear Ms. Penn and Mary. Tim Minchins' song, Prejudice. I think that should ally your anger about gingers slightly.

  • Rude and not ginger...

  • I don't agree with your point that men hate being sexually objectified. It could be because your example does not hold a very strong argument. If a girl had a Mac Miller, or Adam Levine poster I highly doubt any man would care. The guys you listed are known amongst men as being very "feminine", which is why they are subject to ridicule. On top of that your example would most likely only apply to preteens and teens, not adults.

  • @XiaoYeet The examples I listed are men who are sexually objectified from a female perspective. Adam Levine may be there because the girl is a fan for other reasons. But if Adam Levine were shirtless or soaking wet, she'd probably consider taking the poster down. And if you're arguing that Bieber or Edward Cullen are feminine, you gotta ask why? Bieber may look like a girl but Cullen doesn't. Maybe what makes them feminine is the sexual objectification...?

  • "It's my responsibility as a budding pop culture artist to create alternatives to this one specific mold" Lindsay, I love you so much. It's been a while since you've hit the nail on the head THIS hard in a video. Major props. (From a guy who would definitely take down his beer bitch posters for a girl... Just sayin' :p Expect it's... less of a beer bitch more of a.. HyunA... *cough*)

  • I love love love you sooooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!! no homo lol

  • I love this Video .I do my shopping @ Karmaloop The popular Streetwear/Urban Fashion online retailer. Karmaloop Has all the hot gear and the latest styles out to date. Plus i get Huge savings @ Karmaloop Savings Web Site Just search on Google or Yahoo So you can get all the hot Gear for real cheap .

  • Loved this video. Sparked up a whole world of debate with my friends and I, which is always excellent!

Also, reading some of the comments... it makes me laugh that Lindsay's point is being made - girls are each others and their own worst critics, and what you accuse others of is generally what you yourself are guilty of. :)

  • Cross your fingers that this will help my cousin she is driving me insane with this whole weight stuff

  • Lol this makes me wanna go bitch slap some girls at my school and say snap out of it! LOL

  • Wow, I really learned something. I'm rethinking a lot now

  • Executive Lindsay FTW.

  • My favorite youtuber suggesting you should watch my other favorite youtuber! This is a dream come true!!!

  • So glad you're back! You are one of my favorite people on youtube. Your videos are always so thought provoking! :)

  • Sorry for being ungrateful everybody - this video is getting a LOT of love and I really appreciate it. :D

  • The good news is that I think guys aren't as obsessed with that "skinny white girl" image as women think they are.

  • @XOmniverse OMG IT'S YOU. O_O I love your channel so much. :D

  • @linzerdinzertv Ty :) I just started posting videos again after a hiatus.

  • i didnt take down my TOP poster/drawngs for my bf! lol...he says they make him uncomfortable...i said i worked on those drawings

  • YOU'RE BACK AND I JUST FOUND OUT?! 8D you're my everyday hero Lindsay! I've been craving for your videos for like, forever! *w*

  • Interesting!

  • YOU LOOK INCREDIBLE. I'm so happy you got over your alcoholism and got your life back together. stay strong :)

  • also i'd like to say thank you for making me realise its' ok to like people that aren't the same race as you. I only get attracted to Asian guys and my friend thinks its a problem for me because she thinks i'm being picky and racist by excluding other races. This made me feel guilty about myself for a long time but now i guess i'm starting to see it's part of who i am

  • @lilac1098 It's only racism when you assign traits not related to race (like intelligence) to someone based on their race. Preferring the appearance of a certain race is no more bigoted than preferring a certain hair color.

  • i like how you mentioned the black girl trying to look white

i'm mixed race but most people assume i'm black even though i'm not that dark, it annoys me because they assume i'm something i'm not and i think its because most of the black girls they see in the media look like that.

  • @lilac1098 If you're half Black then of course you are considered Black. You don't have to be dark to be Black...

  • Best episode of Linzer Dinzer tv so far.

  • wow i have not clicked on you videos for about 4 months, i miss your old hair style, the young and youthful spunkiness of it all.

  • Damn straight Linz

  • Made a censor error at 6:54, lovey.

I love the way you tore up that magazine like a boss! Quite honestly, I don't blame you one bit. It's pathetic to see those photos. =(

  • I always take down my Sephiroth wall scrolls when I have girls coming over.

  • as previously stated, I really love this new direction. keep it up, oh fearless duo!

  • You gave me a lot to think about, starting from now I will not hide my wallpaper and backgrouds from guys. If I want to stare at Taemin or Hero all day long, I should be able to.

  • @momoja92 HECK YES! I'm with you sister! If the guy really likes me or wants to be friends with me, all the KPOP stuff will stay plastered. :) It's a part of us, whether they like it or not and to strip ourselves of it will only be deceiving ourselves. :)

  • @brithanymarbunmusic Thanks! It's nice to know I am not alone ^^

  • I applaud you so hard for this video. You expressed your views beautifully.

  • I have red hair, how does that dictate in any way the presence or absence of a soul?

  • Dear Linzer. Everything and anything you do always seems to be awesome. That is all.

  • can this show get any more awesomerr? i think it just did. also, that last line at 07:43 totally nailed it.

  • @IluvKirito Yeah me too, it's a stereotype that skinny is anorexic. Some girls just don't gain weight =)

  • @IluvKirito Okay fine - but can you at least concede to the fact that it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get through an episode of my show without offending SOMEONE? Sorry it was you this time. And yes, not all skinny people are anorexic. Christ.

  • Comment removed

  • @IluvKirito LoL why on earth would you think that? I complain about people disagreeing with me all the time. But seriously, I just thought your disagreement was pretty off the point and came from a really narcissistic place. I clearly wasn't talking about you or naturally thin people.

  • Comment removed

  • @IluvKirito You are assuming others feel the same way and missing the bigger picture.

  • @iluvalexndegus I'm not assuming, because I know lots of people who feel the same way. Anyways, Linzerdinzer and I have already exchanged PMs about this matter so it's not something that really needs to be discussed anymore. I never intended for any arguments to break out, I was just stating an issue I had with it personally.

  • @IluvKirito Whoa, hold the phone here - what you have to understand is that I can't flesh out EVERY SINGLE SHADE OF EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of the argument. I can only gloss over basics in a ten minute video. Of course I feel for people in your position but going into that in this episode would have have detracted from the overall point - but you were so focused on your own perspective that you couldn't grasp that concept when consuming my video.

  • @linzerdinzertv ^this

  • @IluvKirito If you expect me to do in ten minutes what an entire BOOK series might barely be able to do - properly and respectfully explore every single facet of the issue - I don't need nor can I ever expect your "respect."

  • @IluvKirito If you expect me to do in ten minutes what an entire BOOK series might barely be able to do - properly and respectfully explore every single facet of the issue - I don't need nor can I ever expect your "respect."

  • @linzerdinzertvI'm just going to respond in a PM to tie up my end of this discussion bc I'm tired of having to spam the comments section -_-

  • @IluvKirito But thanks for supporting the show and thinking I should have my own TV show. That was a nice thing to say. Still thought your oversensitivity to my use of the word anorexic was off base. If you know my show, you should know I use hyperbole.

  • I find asian boys beautiful. :D AND I'M A REDHEAD. XD (@park_al on twitter. ;) )

  • I love the new direction this show is taking! I subscribed for your K-Pop reviews, but I'm staying for the new material. Really great job on this video! You sincerely make me think.

  • @AbePwns Thank you so much for this comment. :)

  • omg you're officially my favorite youtube blog, you love K-pop AND Doctor who~!

  • I really like the direction the show is taking :) I agree with you on just about everything you said. I sure hope you make it big, I think we need more people like you in the pop culture scene.

  • You're really wonderful, Linzer. Absolutely brilliant.

  • Honestly i have been told your supposed to be skinny, blonde (I am naturally blonde but hate it, dyed red ftw) and have this sleek jaw line with a small nose and big eyes... yeah..... im the complete opposite haha.....I can't say im not bothered slightly though...it makes me think about being skinny and "perfect" (kpop don't help either) but than i realize it's all just the media

and guys... they get mad when i say jacob is fine but they say i need to be like a model...hypocrites haha

  • I think you have linked them before, but the Korean Gender Reader is all about these issues. It's so great, because because of people like you, I now look at ads like that, and dissect it, so I feel less inclined to be swayed by such images.

There is a great doco called, "America, the Beautiful" which is all about this and also explores the journey of the first 12 year old black model on runways in America and Europe.

  • I did watch Killing Us Softly, part 3. Loooved it!

  • what a lovely episode, very good points and a great perspective on this topic. I apreciate your videos very much and I watch them all. Thanks!

  • There was talk a while ago about the French government considering a law that would require all digitally altered images to have a disclaimer saying they were altered as a means of combating the issue. Do you think this would be a good idea or would it damage the art form or potentially damage business? After all companies do it as a means to sell the idea that the image is attainable IF you use the product. For men the equivalent is the chiseled guy selling whatever, so it exists in both sexes.

  • As the dad of a teenage girl i would like to thank you for your insight on this subject. You are really awesome, and I couldn't agree with you more! Keep up the fantastic work!

  • FIRST! Great vid Lindsay, I totally agree with you. So important to be critical of what we see in the media and aware that the majority of it is fabricated. And omg LOL, so true about how guys react when they are objectified. So funny how men and women are so different in that sense.

  • Preach! If only more ladies grasped this understanding! And if guys could get over themselves! Peace on Earth and all that...Sigh. Too many lies and too much division, too many people taking the blue pill...But I'm just a silly gay guy. Bravo linzerdinzer!!

  • This is just amazing, you are absolutely right about representation of women in media

  • 1. You Look Like Olivia Benson in this video.

    2. I 100% agree.

    3. I am just about sick and tired of double standards in the media and in society at large, and most importantly I'm sick and tired of my generation being blamed for it, this is a habit that started over time, and can only be ended over time.

  • You madam, are very inspiring. I love watching your videos they always make me feel more confident.
