@pogwo1968 and @BrooklynChivalry - I remember these shows from those channels too and they're some of my most chershed memories from childhood. I dearly wish that television could go back to these simpler and more entertaining times. I despise reality TV and more than one court show really is too much.
you know what would be kool if they made bat man beyound into a movie .,.....adam west could play bruce wayne and justin biber could play terry mginnis
I remember back in the 70's when WPIX showed this Batman show at 4pm which was followed by the Adventures of Superman at 4:30pm then followed by the Lone Ranger at 5pm. Batman was only on for 30 minutes back then which I found to be more intriguing than the hour long presentations. I wish someone had the tv ads from back then.
Wow, you remember that Batman/Superman/Lone Ranger block, too?! That was during the mid-70s, about the same time Lost In Space was on WNEW channel 5 and Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea was on WOR 9 - back when TV was worth watching!
TV was worth watching back then....It was my watching Batman in that 70's time period that I still view the show seriously, at least on an action level, not the campy level that everybody talks about. I remember Lost in Space on Channel 5 but I never knew Voyage To the Bottom Of The Sea was on Channel 9, interesting.
You know, you're right, it was. Batman was HUGE again and it was a good time to be a) a Batman fan, which I was and b) six years old, which i was also.
When I was a kid we didn't have a TV, but we lived in an apartment over some friends that had one. Their daughter always wanted to watch "Lost in Space" on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. Guess what I wanted to watch? There was more than 1 fight. We moved away shortly though, and got a color TV.
Holy Rouges Gallery!! The 60's batman show had the greatest collection of villans ever thwarted by only two heroes!! This show will be in our hearts forever!!!
i remember comin home every weekday from school back in 1989, to watch this on channel 11. if i remember correctly back in 1989 i think they had back to back episodes of Batman on WPIX or PIX 11(like its known now) because of teh bat-craze of 1989 due to the Burton movie.
I miss the days of local broadcasting. You know, back when one of the crew of the local news or whomever would do a chiller theater on Friday nights? Everything's so corporate now.
If I recall correctly, WPIX didnt air Batman for long before pulling it off the air. Sigh. I grew up in the 1970s watching syndicated reruns of classic tv shows, which they would air for YEARS on the local channels. But by the mid-80s, little by little they were removed from the free airwaves. A few times they would bring some classic tv shows back on the air, but would yank them off the air within months, even weeks. And after making such a big deal with their promos about airing them again.
Oh, I know that. But to me thats not long. In the 1970s, they would air reruns of classic tv shows for YEARS. Gilligans Island and Brady Bunch are two examples that come to mind. One tv season isnt much.
I remember WPIX had Batman on in the 70s and early 80s before WNEW/WNYW snatched the show up. When Batman Returns was released in theaters, Channel 11 brought the Batman hour back at 9am, but only for the Summer of 92.
The 'fools' making the batman movies these days are making it in the way the artists envisioned. The Batman TV show, while fun and campy, bore very little resemblance to the original comic book version.
Oh no, watch out everyone! Attack of the overweight fanboy! Ok ok, cool your jets there honcho... no need to get offended, ok? I just feel that there are a lot of great characters that are untapped and we are just getting the same ones over, and over and over again. Is this not true? And, Jesus Christ... it was a 60's TV show... could it NOT be campy? Honestly, is that possible?
Yeah man. They got a million fuckin Batman episodes and they keep using the same ones, Joker, Riddler, 2face, Penguin, Catwoman. Recycling old villians, I'm tired of it. Egghead would fucking pwn.
WHAT? Riddler is a little puss. He didn't even know how to punch a man and when he tried, it didn't do anything. Egghead would demolish Riddler. Twoface as well. Penguin couldn't even do much to him. Catwoman might have a chance cuz she is flexible and fast and whatnot, but the rest of those guys would get annihilated.
At least the Batman TV show had villains from the comics. George Reeves' Superman show always had petty criminals and low lifes, never wearing tights. Just Bugsy and his crew robbing a diamond or somethin. Used too piss me off man!
this show was great do you guys notice how the powers that be are trying to ruin comeic movies be makeing them for thoses who dont like comics kinda duming them down and jocking them up for the comman man.
Only the evil feminists were able to capture Batman, Robin and Batgirl together, and put them into a siemese knot because women always could embroider better than men.
Damn, I remember all this like it was yesterday (now that i've scene it again). I used to watch Batman on WPIX 11. We got the channel on our cable system (Sammons or Twin County). Now with Directv I don't get any NY channels, only Philly.
