I have to say, owning the playstation 3, along with Final Fantasy XIII, there's no reason that they can't do FFVI over (or FFIII for those that played on the SNES). At that time, before graphics in video games would change forever, I absolutely loved that game. My friend and I camped in front of my TV and SNES playing that game for hours and hours each day. I would love to have this one redone with the playstation 3 graphics, it would be incredible
I don't know what you did to the actual opera theme for this "rare opera scene of FFVI" but, you replaced it with the FFVI Grand Finale track. so, quit making people believe that this song is part of the video

While I don't think 7 has aged better than 6, I do believe that they have aged just as well as one another. The character development is really well done in either game, and the story elements presented, as well as the world, really draw you into the game. I honestly prefer 6 over 7 because I think the character development is done a little better insofar as representing the whole cast.
I agree. Final Fantasy VII is a good game, but severely overrated. Final Fantasy VI is the best. Final Fantasy IX is also a fantastic game, as it covers some pretty dark topics, such as genocide, life, and death. Final Fantasy IV is also great. Final Fantasy VI, IX, IV, and Tactics are the only ones that really stand out to me. I like the others, but they don't have a special place in my heart like the ones I listed.
This game owns! Character designs are top notch & original, wonderful story & the graphics for its time were amazing. Also, how can you not love Mog? ;) I've played other FFs, but this one appeals to me the most. OH OH & music was epic!

7 wasn't bad. 6/3 is still my favorite. followed by 4/2. It's more then good enough. Probably one of the top 5 RPG games in history. No one can say that likes video game RPGs if hasn't played this masterpiece. In fact, from the 4th generation, you MUST play: FF VI, Chrono Trigger, Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force 2. This is true now, and this will be true 50 years from now.

@coroloro They have made an anime series, in Japan. Whether or not it will EVER come to America is anyone's guess though since America has a problem with properly dubbing such animes.

I didn't like 9, I loved 6 and 7. 6 had the most amazing characters and storyline in the history of games. I rarely get into stories in video games, but I still play 6 just to go through the story line. Plus the gameplay and the way it was all packaged together, the music... everything about the game was sheer genius.
7 was great for many reasons, but didnt measure up to 6. FF6 made 7 if you ask me. Plus 7 had the most unforgetable moment in any game - when Seph kills Aeris.

FFVI got #4 on GI's top 200 games of all time, why? It is the best FF of all time...and probably best RPG of all time. The riveting story, the awesome sequences like the opera house, the sheer shock felt when Kefka freakin destroys the world (more or less he does, anyway) . Every FF after 6 tried to reach the same level of glory it did, but failed. All of them. They're good, but 6 is its own tier of FF, of RPG.

Because FF7 was FF's 3D debut, but yes FF is the BEST, heck it *is* considered the best RPG by many gaming magazines.
But FF7 was the first time in an RPG where a playable main character died permanently, that really made it's mark- it was unheard of, you just didn't do that to a main character in an RPG.
FF2 had 3 main playable characters die. FF5 also had one of the best playable main characters die. Play the classic Jr. and dont make statements that arent true. Oh and Final Fantasy is unbeatably the best FF made thus far

Without this kind of compelling script, no RPG can even pretend to be as good.
Which is why I feel that Mother 3 could be a contender for being better than FF6, since the script is nothing other than perfect and with a tale of such emotion...

I know, I love Terra and all, but Locke is my favorite character from any of the games. I was really disappointed to learn that he wasn't going to be in Dissidia. Maybe if they make a sequel, which would fantastic.
I think that not only locke is a nice character, maybe this game is the only game that has several meaningful characters together in a full pack, I am really sorry for the people who think that FFX and so on are good games, those guys don't have a clue about the old school and its real meaning and deepness.

FFVI has the most emotional depth and character development in the series. Locke, Celes, Terra, Sabin, Shadow, Setzer, Strago or even just Gau, all of them are fully developed, original, characters. I agree with that, but I also really liked the unique famboyant style of FF9. It was like watching a huge play unfold, with all the ridiculous costumes and rich colour. Even the towns looked quite a lot like sets for a musical or something; it was really cleverly put together.
I think those who like FF 7 and up have a harder time bringing forth that fantasy from their mind that FF is. They need more visuals to figure out the emotions and and story. If we should disregard the graphics of ALL the games, I think FF 4 - 6 are the ones who are the best of all the games.
It was the first playstation game I'd played when I was 10. The OPening is really captivating, too bad the game graphics just followed the SNES version. Nevertheless, the overall is amazing.
Final Fantasy 5 was the worst rpg I've ever played. The entire thing was Deus Ex Machina and none of it made any sense.

I have similar gripes about IV, personally. Everybody "dies", but NOBODY dies in that game. I will still say though, that that is strictly my opinion of why I personally don't esteem it as greatly as others do.

Dude I totally agree... in FF2 it seemed like everybody kept coming back to life. Rydia, Edward, Yang, Palim and Porom. Tellah was the only major character who died and even still, that was earlier on in the game I was still kinda like, wtf? Just because he's old? lol.
I know the feeling! Of all the deaths that were reversed, I always thought it was kinda unfair that his was permanent. That's just one more example of how it sucks to be a mentor character in a fantasy story or RPG!
I still say FF6 is the best in terms of story. FF7 gets the prize for gameplay, simply because the materia feature was awesome. FF10 with the Sphere Grid was so much fun as well. Regardless, in terms of story and character development, definently FF6.
The original was on the Super Nintendo, released as FFIII. Prior to the GBA and Playstation ports of II and the DS remake of III, there was a gap between I and IV because the original versions were not released here. So IV was originally released here as II, and then V was not released here until the GBA port came out.
So when this game came out in 1994, it was only the third in the series released in North Amer

I was an absolute FF fanatic with all the FF6 and below. But then ff7 came out. It was good but all the cast sucked. I was hoping never getting cloud back because he is such a emo. sephorith had nothing on kefka. Anyway I'm not a fanatic anymore because after 7 it just started to be the same. And I did not like 10 at all. ff6 is still my presonal favourite with ff5 following right behind.

I didn't like 9, I loved 6 and 7. 6 had the most amazing characters and storyline in the history of games. I rarely get into stories in video games, but I still play 6 just to go through the story line. Plus the gameplay and the way it was all packaged together, the music... everything about the game was sheer genius.
7 was great for many reasons, but didnt measure up to 6. FF6 made 7 if you ask me. Plus 7 had the most unforgetable moment in any game - when Seph kills Aeris.

About villains,ffVIII has the most destructive one, this game is the one that makes you think the most, time is a difficult issue to discuss, though the main charater is somewhat imature it is the one i prefer the most, even the fact that they don't have mp and they draw magic from the planet is really well thouth, but then again i am playing final fantasys since final fantasy 4 and still i have to say that the story that i like the most is ffVIII,

FFVI got #4 on GI's top 200 games of all time, why? It is the best FF of all time...and probably best RPG of all time. The riveting story, the awesome sequences like the opera house, the sheer shock felt when Kefka freakin destroys the world (more or less he does, anyway) . Every FF after 6 tried to reach the same level of glory it did, but failed. All of them. They're good, but 6 is its own tier of FF, of RPG.
I still wonder why people love 7 so much...I hated it.

Because FF7 was FF's 3D debut, but yes FF is the BEST, heck it *is* considered the best RPG by many gaming magazines.
But FF7 was the first time in an RPG where a playable main character died permanently, that really made it's mark- it was unheard of, you just didn't do that to a main character in an RPG.

@Stfb60 Indeed, and I think the biggest reason why newer FFs cant match isn't because it is literally impossible, but that the individuals who wrote the artistic script of FF6 no longer work for square.
Without this kind of compelling script, no RPG can even pretend to be as good.
Which is why I feel that Mother 3 could be a contender for being better than FF6, since the script is nothing other than perfect and with a tale of such emotion...
If you love ff6, download mother 3, you'll love it.

I know, I love Terra and all, but Locke is my favorite character from any of the games. I was really disappointed to learn that he wasn't going to be in Dissidia. Maybe if they make a sequel, which would fantastic.

I agree with that, but I also really liked the unique famboyant style of FF9. It was like watching a huge play unfold, with all the ridiculous costumes and rich colour. Even the towns looked quite a lot like sets for a musical or something; it was really cleverly put together.

I think those who like FF 7 and up have a harder time bringing forth that fantasy from their mind that FF is. They need more visuals to figure out the emotions and and story. If we should disregard the graphics of ALL the games, I think FF 4 - 6 are the ones who are the best of all the games.

It was the first playstation game I'd played when I was 10. The OPening is really captivating, too bad the game graphics just followed the SNES version. Nevertheless, the overall is amazing.

Final Fantasy 5 was the worst rpg I've ever played. The entire thing was Deus Ex Machina and none of it made any sense.
Look, there's a whirlpool for no reason at all! The water dragon who lives in the water broke off of the boat, surely that means he must be dead!
Oh no, the island sank and we're drowning but hey, here's the dragon that we thought died on the other side of the planet miraculously here to save us and oh, now he's dead again.

I have similar gripes about IV, personally. Everybody "dies", but NOBODY dies in that game. I will still say though, that that is strictly my opinion of why I personally don't esteem it as greatly as others do.

Dude I totally agree... in FF2 it seemed like everybody kept coming back to life. Rydia, Edward, Yang, Palim and Porom. Tellah was the only major character who died and even still, that was earlier on in the game I was still kinda like, wtf? Just because he's old? lol.

I still say FF6 is the best in terms of story. FF7 gets the prize for gameplay, simply because the materia feature was awesome. FF10 with the Sphere Grid was so much fun as well. Regardless, in terms of story and character development, definently FF6.

Reason being that every character had the ability to do everything every other character could do, save for limit breaks.
FF6 allowed all characters to learn the same magic but they still had their unique abilities...'cept for Gogo. :p
But this game is beautiful, and easily the best IMO. I think all FFs after 6 are shit...but that's just me.

This is a remake released on the Playstation.
The original was on the Super Nintendo, released as FFIII. Prior to the GBA and Playstation ports of II and the DS remake of III, there was a gap between I and IV because the original versions were not released here. So IV was originally released here as II, and then V was not released here until the GBA port came out.
So when this game came out in 1994, it was only the third in the series released in North Amer
