  • @Syntarro there are female hawk people since Vultan has a daughter. She was shown earlier in the movie

  • 5:55 like dramatic chipmunk! hahaha

  • The first time I saw this I was willing Barin to kill Flash - Gordon is one boring tosser.

  • The cloud tank effects were also very cool.

  • cool fight

  • THEY HAVE A MACHINE THAT GIVE EGGS.

  • what is this? madness!

  • I always liked how the villains in this flick had a kind of sexualy perverse edge to them. Like in this scene here, .. "You tortured her didn't you ?!! .. "Yes! A very interesting girl! I do think she rather enjoyed it !" ... Not exactly lines you'd hear Darth Vader say. Very novel and interesting touch, .. which makes it not so much a total kiddie flick ( like most sci-fi / fantasy / adventure films tend to be very juvenile ). Gives it an adult quality .

  • 'what is this?'

    'humanity'

the part I remember the most.

  • What important lesson did we learn at the end of this clip? When you are 2nd in command of the entire empire, and generally not well-liked, it's a good idea to take a few guards with you when you come off your shuttle. Especially, when you only have one good arm, and you are about to tell an important prince that he's under arrest. A cool black costume and a cocky attitude will not prevent you from getting a good ass kicking!

  • @mrderekevan - They had never fought back before, because they knew the consequences - and Klytus wasn't expecting them to do so this time, either.

  • Shouldn't Klytus have some guards with him. Come on....

  • If you look closely, there are TONS of females in the scene. The ones in the colorful gowns with the colorful wings.

  • @heavenlyblade let's just hope the ones in the gowns are females ;)

  • This whole tedious fight scene was worth the shot at 5:58. Hilarious

  • @chairmoistener A fight with bullwhips on a wobling disc with a spiked floor, .. "tedious" ?!! Well, aren't we a hard one to please !

  • I like how Flash looks over Colitus after his eyes pop out like an examiner as if to say man those eyes really poped out there and the tongue too;ah the stories to tell the grand children after I save the frigon Earth.

  • LOL 'agent zarkov you will be liquidated for treachery'

  • how come they don't play awesome old movies like this on tv anymore? this movie RULES!!!

  • When Peter Pan said hello to James Bond we got Prince Barin.

  • The bad guy in the gold mask is Peter Wyngarde ( Jason King ). Whats with his eyes coming out on stalks though when he gets thrown onto the spikes ? Nasty !

  • GIVE ME THE REMOTE CONTROL

  • this is a timeless epic piece of a moviefight!

  • What is this... Madness?

  • @givebeesachance this... is... Volton!

  • 5.45mins i found that part bizarly hilarious!!!

  • this film should be remade with tim burton directing

  • @jimbo271uk Dear God, I hope you're joking.

  • @knockoutmouse89 lol well perhaps not Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam maybe

  • Comment removed

  • @jimbo271uk Tim Burton ? .. He sucks !

  • Nice but i had to mark it down for being a poorly sized upload.

  • I bought this DVD for my nephew, he's five and he loves it!

  • theres no female hawk people...who lays the eggs???

  • @Syntarro

there are females, they're the ones in pink, red, and gold dresses lol......

  • o wow LOL i never  noticed that. thx :}

  • @Syntarro Actually there was one female shown. In there beginning there is a scene involving Prince Vultan's daughter.

  • @Syntarro voltan has a daughter, you see her in the first bits

  • @Syntarro there are!! you can see teh dresses

    !!!!

  • @Syntarro They're all in Ming's harem.

  • @Syntarro I saw what looked like some females in the background .

  • @Syntarro Damn good question!! LOL.

  • only flash gordon can kick the ass of james bond .

  • Prince barins right hand man is richard O'brian from rocky horror, friggen riff raff in flash gordon woot!

  • KLAYSS??? HAHAHA, sending out empty threats! Talk about KILL THE MESSENGER. That was TOO EASY! LOL

  • FLASH JUST KILLED DR DOOM, LOL

  • LMAO Around 1:44

Prince Barin's "Bastard" sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to witness the greatest happening in sports: Sudden-Death Whipping!

  • I love that 14 hours to save the Earth. As he's being strangled. Yeah thanks for making a bad situation worse.

  • 5:56 - Klytus eyeballs pop out and weird barf..

  • he definitely pooped out of his mouth....

  • hey hey flash gordon

    put on your running shoes

    hey hey flash gordon

    you've got nothing to lose

  • I don't see how a movie having good actors like Brain Blessed and Timothy Dalton would get bombed the way it did especially with Queen added to the movie. I think the critics are miserable people who needs to get laid and know what it is to just be a kid against even as an adult and not take thinks so seriously when judging flicks.

  • This was only a year after Star Wars, when there was still a generally very negative attitude towards sci-fi in general. Critics at that time would generally pan sci-fi movies, just out of principle

  • @weldonwin Your mistaken. Star Wars came out in 1977, .. this in 1980, .. a little more than a year.

Thing is, THIS movie didn't just imitate SW ( like most other sci-fi flicks were doing at the time ) but actually kind'a DISTINGUISHED it'self , in many ways, from THAT movie, .. and thats something which it SHOULD be admired for !

  • @Skulldini what you need to remember is starwars did indeed come out in the 1970's, how ever Flash Gorden came out in the 1930's so the question really is who copied whom lol so in my humble opinion starwars and any other sci-fi movie copied the black and white version of this movie.

  • @mistle26 Well, even before the 30's movie serial, Flash Gordon was a comic. And, if you've seen that you'll find that THIS movie is actually more similar to THAT ( in terms of visual style anyway ).

Tonewise though, I finde this movie is actually kinde of similar to Barbarella ( ever seen that ), with the campiness, humor, and sexiness, .. and it also has some elements of the Wizard of Oz. It strikes me as being much more simmilar to THOSE films than to Star Wars .

  • @Skulldini Barbarella was an awesome flick, and yes I have seen the comics and what not, I just hate when people compare everything to starwars like it was the first sci-fi film ever made, yes Lucas did make a hit movie and a winning franchise but he was NOT the first to make good films about space or robots or w/e. Metropolis 1920 or 30 silent film is great, little slow but very good.

  • @mistle26 A lot of Lucas' ideas came from Flash, and many other of Star Wars predecessors.

  • Siskel and Ebert liked it.

  • GIVE ME THE REOMTE CONTroll !!!!

  • Prince Barin is a great actor. Zultan kicks ass too. Watching the guys eyeballs and tongue pop out at 5:57 was so fucking weird watching it as a 6 year old :D

  • Why did Barin have Flash do the actual killing? Did he not want the blood to be on his hands? I always wandered about that. Kinda makes him look weak.

  • They probably did that to give it more action since Flass is a NFL football player so he tackles and lifts Zultan to the spikes.

  • @jwill5587 - You missed the bit where Barin issues the challenge to trial by combat, and Vultan expects it to be with him, and is somewhat surprised when Barin chooses Flash.

  • Klytus's voice sounds like Jeremy Irons. I know it's not though.

  • awesome lol

  • Vultan's laugh kills me 1:45 LMAO

  • Cheesy or not, this fight scene was fukking amazing.

  • I agree, this fight scence and when the Hawkmen attack the Rocket Ajax are actually real solid action scenes. This was a great fight scene for a movie.

  • there arent any hawkwomen

  • 25 seconds. There she is to the left of the picture.

  • wtf is liquidated? thought it was liquified..

  • An old expression for "executed"

  • One of the most hilarious scenes in the movie when the masked dudes eyes come out of his mask liked boiled eggs!

  • Supposedly Kurt Russell auditioned for the role of Flash...I wonder how the movie would've turned out if he had won the part

  • I wonder what would have happened to his career! hahah.

  • hmmm, maybe it would of turned out alright anyways... who knows?

  • @CesMan83 I think peoples heads would have exploded from sheer awesomeness. With all due respect to Sam Jones, he really was the weak link in this film.

  • @pandaphil you are joking right? his hammy acting was the icing on the cake for the Flash Gordon movie. If the main character could actually act, the swirly backgrounds and silly unrealistic fight sequences would have seemed totally out of place.

  • @stopthesoftkill THAT fight, there on the screen, actually looks quite harrowing, convincing, and very well-staged to me !

  • one scene is worth more than any sci fi today

  • Dale exclaims "Zarkov he's tilting it!" Did she figure that out by herself?! LOL.

  • heh, she makes me laugh with her quirky wordings!

  • at 2:38 Vultan cops a feel.. lol

  • That's what made FG so appealing, the actors just went totally with the groove ad libed many of the scenes so to speak ;)

  • Agent Zarkov you will be liquidated for treachery... eeexcellent.

  • yamma my ass.

  • i disagree i think all the acting was good and the action was good for the movie!

  • I agree, we are talking a sci fi movie setting here with big characterisations (rare in films) and I can think of worse sci fi films with worse acting. :)

    5*

  • 05:58 nigga in mask fucked up

  • @datboiash409 nigga?
