The term "blessing in disguise" doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing. It just means that no matter how bad you may think the situation is, you didn't lose completely everything. Take for example, you lose your wallet & had to walk home instead of taking the subway. Later in the evening you learn that the subway broke down & hundreds of people were stranded on the train for 8 hours. Yeah you lost your wallet but you survived the trip home in one piece.

The term "blessing in disguise" doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing. It just means that no matter how bad you may think the situation is, you didn't lose completely everything. Take for example, you lose your wallet & had to walk home instead of taking the subway. Later in the evening you learn that the subway broke down & hundreds of people were stranded on the train for 8 hours. Yeah you lost your wallet but you survived the trip home in one piece.

Haiti may truly be better off 10 or so years now cause of this quake(much more relief help), but try telling this to the families of people killed in the quake.
Most of the buildings that collapsed in this quake wouldn't meet strict U.S. building codes. If a 7.0 quake hit San Francisco, for example, very few buildings would collapse.
The devil wasn't behind this quake. But it seems odd Haiti has been living in poverty while the Dominican Republic is doing quite well, in comparison.

In the long run, Haiti might actually be better off after this quake then they would be had the quake not happen. Much, much more aid is being sent to Haiti now; aid that wouldn't be coming if this devastating quake hadn't occurred.
10 years from now, Haiti could be a prosperous country. Haiti needs top foreign advisors from countries like the United States, the U.K, China, Russia, and even France.
France needs to help these people more. It'd be like if Britain turned its back on Canada
