  • He does a great job singing that song

  • Layne was AIC Part 1. William Duvall is AIC Part 2. It's that simple. And i think William does a kick ass job. We all love Layne, of course. But now we have William, who is also an epic singer!

  • this shit is stupid they should of just stopped when layne passed on one and only band that band was to good to have a new singer he sucks asshole

  • omg... why is this not on a cd some where... i'd buy that shit so fast... amazing orchestration...

  • DOPE!!!

  • The new guy is not bad, I have to say. But AIC is not AIC without Layne. It's the members of AIC with a new lead singer.

  • duvall singing just blow me away...geat singing!

  • no shit. they think they are soooooo into 'the music.' Why are you bitching about the band? Listening to the friggin music. It's great.

  • @quinners1110 Straight up. Just seen them at Tower theatre in Philly March 13 2010. ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS I HAVE EVER SEEN AND i AM 41 YRS OLD AND SEEN ALOT. Cantrell is a genious and Duvall keeps the music alive. When Jerry is singing, Duvall moves to the back and lets Jerry have the stage. Pure respect. He knows he will never replace Layne, but the new Album kicks ass and AWESOME live. They palyed 2 hours NOTE 4 NOTE.....PEACE !!

  • u retards better stop making bad comments about duvall n the band as well..real fans dont wqaste time on this bullshit..real fans apreciate the good return of the band ..we love loayne r.i.p but be thankful for what we have now that its not bad at all...go aic...

  • @merlynmago couldnt have said it better

  • It(He,She) is enough of devate ..... it is a very good music them better of the decade

basta de devate .....es muy buena musica los mejor de la decada

  • Debate is good for the truth which finds its meaning deep within wide consideration of all views, respectful of opinions...

  • Yea i totally agree. Don't get me wrong Du'vall can sing but he shouldnt be doing AIC because there's no similarities to Staley what so ever. No one can ever match Layne but i know if they searched they could find someone remotley close. i've always been a big fan of Aaron Lewis of Staind doing AIC covers.

  • so I guess u know better then Jerry Cantrell and the guys...... they weren't looking for someone who sounds like Layne... that would have been dumb and disrespectful...... DuVall is a great vocalist and the new album is incredible considering they didn't record in 14 years and replaced the vocalist.... all u bitching retards need to wait and hear the music first before u talk your typical garbage

  • I didn't mean "great" vocalist in historical sense.. I meant he's a great choice for the group.. I've been in the music biz for over 10 years, and my ear for music is very good... and like I said, there's a chance that Jerry Cantrell has a better idea about his music and about what his band needs than u do... He tries to "mimis" Layne's style because he's singing songs which Layne recorded in the past.. and because AIC is maintaining the 'layered vocal' style that Layne and Jerry specialized in

  • when you say you are in the music business what exactly do you do?

  • 10 years as writer, producer, and recording artist ... also 4 years of doing Business Affairs for EMI Music Publishing as well as 4 years of Business Affairs for Tommy Boy Music... received various platinum plaques, including a tripple platinum plaque for working on Everlast's "Whitey Ford Sings the Blues"

  • Haha nice one SkorpBX. I agree with you on all points, and to all you "Duval sux" and "AiC should change their name" etc people.....No one cares what you think! Not Jerry Cantrell,Sean Kinney

Mike Inez or William Duval himself, not the 1000's of people who attend their shows and have purchase their music. No one! So you can sit at your computer typing about how you know better then people who know more about music and who earn more $ from music then you ever will, all you want. No one cares.

  • ya dude, com'on why cnt people just enjoy great music regardless if layne is there or not? layne was amazying and he will b always remembered but we have to move on guys. will kicks the shit out of these songs

  • How can you not trust Jerry....he loved Layne as much as anyone. Go Jerry, go Aic....go Duvall.

  • The orchestral intro is fucking awesome....

I wish they had recorded this show...

And I miss this song on AIC MTV Unplugged... it would be fantastic!!!!

  • i just wish jerry would sing it tbh, he has an amazing voice and at least it would still sound like aic then

  • Opps, I meant AIC so don't give me any shit!

  • this song still makes me cry.

  • If only it was Layne singing....

    This still makes me cry..

  • I agree with with Roxyvox.... AIC is one of my all time favourite bands, I saw 'em back in 93 when they toured Aus with Suicidal Tendencies (the first concert I ever went to) & Layne was struggling to stand up, mumbled & slurred the vox for the entire set.... I love AIC, but Suicidals stole that show, Mike Muir is a true pro...

  • This was such a fun concert to sing in!!! I was in the choir...it was too bad we were only in small background parts, but it was still SO MUCH FUN to sing in something like this!

  • I think that every time I voice my opinion and say I like Layne, obviously, much, much, much better than William, everyone else thinks I'm dogging Will....but that's not true. If I liked Duvall's voice better, I'd admit it to the fullest...but I don't. It's nothing personal. Layne's voice was amazing and most singers whether they can sing or not, just don't have a great sounding voice even if they can hit the notes. Duvall's one of those people. Simply, Layne's hard to replace.

  • i wish i was there to

    a) hear it better

and b) kick the asses of the people too obnoxious to appreciate the beauty of this.

  • i agree...duvall sounds amateurish. i wish he would take some chances vocally. duvall just sings exactly the same in every song. no variation. very boring.

  • william duvall may be a great singer, i just think he puts too much emphasis into it. he's trying too hard

  • It's amazing...until Duvall opens his mouth.

If only they had done something like this with Layne.

  • this is what Layne would have wanted. would love to here studio quality though. freaking people..

  • i wish everyone would stop saying its not the same without layne when in fact i think live they are even better as the new guy isnt of his tits all the time. im the biggest alice fan ever and lets face it layne was not always the best live especially towards the end.

  • Layne was a great writer and singer.. but lets all face the music, he's dead. he's not coming back, and Jerry and the guys just wanna play their music... so they got a new singer... he can't replace staley tho..

    it's like this..

    Aerosmith - Tyler = nothing

    Zeppelin - Plant = nothing

Ozzy - Ozzy = ... well.. ozzy isn't really there anyways.. but oh well u get the point. lol

  • aic? NO

  • those ppl in the audience need to shut the fuck up and appreciate the awesomeness of the orchestra

  • and everyone needs to agree

  • i agree with darkangel!

and i really wish those people in the audience could shut the fuck up!

  • This hardly seems real. Wish people would get over the "He's not Layne" thing for a minute and just focus on how sublime this music is. They're in great form, making great music. Just enjoy it. Oh, btw. Gotta love the idiots in the audience who didn't know when to shut up.

  • Because Layne wrote these lyrics, and what they must have meant to him, it's hard to listen to someone else sing his words. Best wishes to Sean, Jerry, and Mike though. I'll always love this band.

  • everything was amazing, but when it was time to sing, i still think of layne being there singing his heart out...its not the same...

    :'[

  • Well, why not save one of the first live performances of this song for when you get a whole orchestra to back you?!

  • this band will neverbe the same without layne for me it will never be the same wish they would stop using the name alice in chains =(

  • even if Layne was alive today, think of the awful condition he would be in... :(

  • i was one of the girls singing in the choir. it was really fun. we could barly hear ourselves, but it was still really fun to meet Alice in Chains. You can actually see me in this video a little bit. but this is a great video.

  • *.* I Stay Away é maravilhoso!Incriveil!

  • this is so fuckin amazing only thing missing is layne

  • this is INCREDIBLE!! only if lane was still alive. they would be the biggest thing going right now

  • I agree rock is so poor right now hopefully half the magic that was Layne's chains can be in the album they release wit william cause we all know it can neva be the same but they can still hopefully make some good music

  • They should of been the biggest thing when they first came out, but Layne was never around. It killed alice when they didn't do the wood stock thye were sup. to headline, and they were to sup. tour with Metallica

  • I wish those a-holes would fucking quit yelling because you can't hear the orchestra or the beginning of the song- which is the absolute best part. Does that asshole think he's going to get Jerry to "come on"? Drink less beer you'll appreciate your concerts more.

  • oh Alice are to smart to just do this once they are going to tour with this epic stuff next time around

  • where can we get dvd's on this?

  • We can only hope for that. There's rumor that a Live album will be out with material taken from the last tour. I saw them in '06 and '07 (acoustic) and they absolutely rocked. This sends chills up my spine. I would be amazed if this is not released on an album.

  • There was too much effort put forth to allow this to be experienced one time only. A clue that leads me to believe that this was recorded is how "perfect" the song was performed. Meaning, there was really no "artistic differences" when compared to studio version. This would lead me to believe that this is not the last time we will hear this version.

  • Wow this is so well done

  • have ye noticed that all the bands that actually risen above the modicum of "adequate" have utilized an orchestra to back their music? Not too many Rap artists or Grunge 'artists' employing this ideal I notice....

  • They are the best

  • "Alice In Chains: Gods among men"

    \m/

  • I think this was one of the first times they have ever played this song live. Fucking awesome!

  • I am so jealous of the people that got this live!!!!! I love ALL of you, Alice!!!

  • fuck

  • Been waiting a long ass time for this! Very well done.

  • Fucking rockstars.

Layne is smiling down on these guys... no doubt.

  • the gods of seattle sound
