  • TONY HAWK PROVING GROUND!

  • wow so this are the roots of rap. Very cool. Kind of reminds me of Nujabes's beat.

  • The Four never Got There Royal Dues...True hip Hop Pioneers!! This is back in The Days of the block parties at Bronx River And Soundview ave in The Bronx!

  • First hip hop record in my possession

  • "Like a hot butter on a bag of popcorn..." that's tight yo

  • Ever heard the full 18 minute version of the song?

  • Tony Hawk's Proving Ground Brought Me Here :D

  • I rememnber my big bro buying this record on Jamaica Ave in Queens back in 1980 ans me sneaking it to listen to it whenever I could. The roots of rap truly. When we didn't even have a name for it.

  • that my shiitttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh yeah and I'm still down for hearing the 16MINUTE VERSION! Can anyone do it?

  • this was the shizzzznit!!!!!!!

  • r.i.p bobby robinson

  • I had this playing through my phone the other day at an outside bar and someone wanted to know if it was the Beastie Boys! I can definitely tell they were influenced a lot by the Funky Four Plus One. I play this all the time and wish I could get an mp3 or CD of it- It's impossible for me to listen to it and feel sorry for myself at the same time.

  • @chutch128177 I got this on CD. Sugar Hill Collection. Might be on another CD as well. It's possible.

  • Thumbs up if you know this song after playing Tony Hawk Proving Ground. :)

  • Welllll, let's go to work, let's go to work, let's go to, go to, go to, go to, go to, go to work!!!

  • @JMCMLXXIX there was way more than that

  • i bet sha rock would beat the shit out of nicki minaj in a rap battle and im only 17 btw

  • this song makes me wanna skateboard

  • @huss112ify Could that be because of Tony Hawk's Proving Ground?

  • Post Baron & Breakout. Still amazing, but those DJs seriously *made* the group when they were in it. :)

  • lets go to work!!!! n.yc.!!!!

  • I am mostly a fan of the golden age BOOM BAP hip hop era from 1992-2005 but this joint right here is FUNKY. I am vibin and feeling this whole rhyme and rhythm from my head down to my feet. Very nice, i am definitely giving this a THUMBS UP. peace to all my hip hop junkies.

  • 1 person doesn't know what good music when they hear it (Y)

  • The beginning of rocking for those what this is.....

  • real rap. far better then that gangsta nonsense.

  • @disjoinedchip2 gangsta rap is nothing but childish lyrics about killing and taking drugs

they still got some pretty bomb beats and rhymes though :))

  • @leotheloser it's only childish if you never came from it...it would be more childish to rap about something you don't know anything about. I do love the rap from late 70's/early 80's but I don't put down other rap in general terms.

  • @sth1997 oh sorry :))

when i thought of "fuck the police" i remembered a couple of skater punks cursing in public thinking they were cool while playing that song on their phone. douchebags.

but i wasnt thinking that back in that time black people were oppressed by the police

  • Couldn't find this nowhere , thanks :-D

  • I knew this was the longest rap song! Check the label 16minutes! The problem is trying to find it, this is on Enjoy Records, the other versions are are Sugar Hill records and they cut them short for some reason. Question, if there is a 16min version, why is yours only 9:42? Thanks for putting it out for us.

  • @MrApollos2

YouTube restricts most video to be over 10 mins.

  • This Shit Go Hard!!

  • un clasico del hip hop

  • THAT IS THE BEST BREAKDANCING SONG! :D

  • fuck this song is just awesome. the beat, the rhymes, the flow, everything.

and even though its a 10min song it doesnt get boring as it plays, it gets better and better becouse of their rapping skills

  • Did positive K sample this beat? it sounds just the same.

  • @straightupmenace of course he did from cheryl lynns got to be real

  • Try BAN, FUNK IT, amazing new tune!!!

  • Selling my whole collection of rare old school hip hop and funk, mainly original vinyls from the 70's and 80's. List sent by requested Pm.

  • This is way ahead of it's time.; Wow!!!!!!!!

  • omg...remember sneaking out to the club hear this song and bought it when i got off punishment 2 weeks later. those where the good days the 12in long play cost me 2.99 plus tax lol

  • OHHH,I listened to this song whole summer!

  • Someone with old school directors account should upload the 16 minute version.

  • @lloydSSJ4 wit cha when you're right

  • What id you had the radio on and suddenly this came on. It would be a rebirth for radio.

  • Where can I find this cut for download? This is F$%king great!!

  • love this song

  • it my song motherfucka lol in nyc bronx ya old time heheheh i love i them it number one woooooo whooo lol

  • anyone know there they are now???

  • does this song just loop on and on?

  • This beats any of the "rap" that gets put out today

  • Another footnote. The Funky Four plus One More were the first rap group to perform on Saturday Night Live back in 1981 with "Its The Joint".

  • @17mark1717 Thats was the last time that show was funny. lol

  • This is a treasure, havent listen to this song in a long time , thanks for sharing it , it is one of my favorites :)

  • one of my favorites as well a classic

  • @xplodeteam ye that true thAT RIGHT

  • Wow, i just love this! Thanks for posting! Cheers from Sweden! :D

  • cllllllllllllaaaasssssiiiiicccccc

  • Wow...thank you for posting the long version. This is history right here, recognize...first female M.C. on wax..and I think they were the first rap group on national T.V. = SNLive. THIS is HIP HOP to me. Lil Rodney C, KK Rockwell, Keith Keith, and Jazzy Jeff AKA Raheim (later with The Furious 5)

  • jazzy jeff was raheim? Thanks for that knowledge. Everyday is a school day.

  • No way ;o)

This is a misinformation. Look at their real names:

    Jazzy Jeff (Jeffrey Myree)

    Rahiem (Guy Williams)

  • Yeah Jazzy Jeff replaced Raheim.

  • Fellas lets get this straight 1st things 1st. Jazzy Jeff was not Rahiem. The original Funky 4 was KK, Keith Keith, Sha Rock and Rahiem. After the battle with the Furious 4 (Mele Mel, Kidd Creole, Cowboy and Mr. Ness) Rahiem was offered a spot with the Furious 4 and thus became the Furious 5. Funky looking for a replacement recruited LiL Rodney C who wouldnt join the group without his friend Jazzy Jeff. So the group recruited them both thus The Funky 4 Plus One More was bornREAL TALK

  • These muthafuckers was hot to def back in the days. As far as the street goes they were neck and neck with the Furious 5, as kids we use to sit around and debate which group was better. I must say even though the Furious 5 was tighter the Funky Four was the new blood. and ThemaddproF is right even though they are in hip hop's history books they should have gotten way more recognition..REAL TALK

  • @JovonTLC mate they are both great

  • Boy oh boy! Talk bout funky! Better than the original tune and the flow is nasty! Ole Skool 4 life!

  • Without a doubt this is my all time favorite rap record, with it's harmonizing and interesting stories as well as dancebale beat. Too bad it's so hard to find and the Funky 4+1 More never got NEAR the recognition they deserved.
