I was there, I remember it well..... it was a comp and he was trying to take off before the window shut..... the wind speed was too fast for launch.

If you can't afford to take up the sport of paragliding you can recreate the thrill of it by choosing a random date in the future and when that date comes around take a hammer and smash your pelvis and legs to pieces.

Then spend a while in hospital having pins inserted into your skeleton and a few months recovering at home.

During this time you can randomly select your next future date.....

Local Pilots think it is Lynn Watkins at the Nationals in Hawkes Bay. Conditions were rough and windy. He went on his speed bar fully straight after launch on a Flight design B4 glider

Speedbar in these conditions definitely not a good idea (QED looking at the video) but there seemed to be no penetration and danger of blowback without it. Perhaps he should never have launched in the first place, or picked his moment better...
