Eliot Fisk is a great performer and interpreter thus a great person Itself. He can be as an examples. Personally I prefer Aniello Desiderio as a performer , but is still a personal taste. There are lots of great performers mostly unknow to all of you.
Fisk sounds good here. You need to understand that his style is passionate and intense. Not all his notes are played perfectly - but it's still awesome to hear nonetheless. He's the Eddie Van Halen of classical guitar.

Just heard Fisk performing Vivaldi's Mandolin Concerto in C as a guitar & harpsicord duet. It was extremely clean and perfectly executed IMO. Pieces originally written by Paganini for the violin may not be as suitable for the guitar - a fretted instument with built-in speed bumps.
I cant stand Fisk's playing! He has amateur technique and absolutely no musicianship! I'm just glad that he hasnt taken to playing Bach, at least i havn't seen it.

You may have a point however, as a child I did indeed learn every Sor study and I'm gratefull for the sense of poise, balance and elegance one can take from his music. How are we confusing a scale with a musical idea? If a piece is constructed using scales then surely that is the musical idea, however I think you are the one who's missing something as this piece is composed around arpeggios not scales.

He can have Manuel Barrueco's left hand. It doesn't matter. His synchronization is terrible. Every single arpeggio he plays is uneven. Every single note he plays is staccato and cut short.
My teacher played with him before and he told me Fisk is a great musician but his technique isn't good. His technique is a joke. It's even below the standards that Segovia set up. That's low.
Your comment has nothing to do with Eliot's guitar playing ability, which is of poorer quality compared to Williams or Russell etc. They are true professionals whom play in public with polished technique and articulation. Fisk lacks this quality.

He has a great two disk set of Bach Violin Sonatas and Partitas. He recorded it about 8 years ago and it is stellar.

Eliot Fisk is an extraordinary musician in all senses. He has his particular, personal and very extreme style; his expression is very intense and his palette of colours spreads in a wide range. One can agree or not with his choices, but undoubtly he is a great, sincere and responsable artist. It's easy to polemize about him, because his is so extreme sometimes, but he deserves always our most high respect. Me? Well, I love his music, and his Paganini CD is just breathtaking! Thank you.

Wow people who say this sucks must be out of their minds. I dont like classical guitar but i have to do a project on him so i decided to watch his vids. I play electric and bass ect. If you say this is shit you are menatally insance even i like this. Its skill.

Eliot Fisk has a great left hand technique, he just doesn't let those notes sound... his technique kills the piece.

He can have Manuel Barrueco's left hand. It doesn't matter. His synchronization is terrible. Every single arpeggio he plays is uneven. Every single note he plays is staccato and cut short.
My teacher played with him before and he told me Fisk is a great musician but his technique isn't good. His technique is a joke. It's even below the standards that Segovia set up. That's low.

Your comment has nothing to do with Eliot's guitar playing ability, which is of poorer quality compared to Williams or Russell etc. They are true professionals whom play in public with polished technique and articulation. Fisk lacks this quality.

I agree. I'd never really heard Fisk play before this video but his interpretation does seem a bit sloppy by comparison to someone like Williams etc....

That's insane - if we were only allowed to criticise people who were less skilled than us, we would have to accept any art that came along! I was only using the word 'sloppy' by comparison to Williams, who is widely considered the most technically perfect guitarist I believe.

His interpretation is flawless, it is meant to sound harsh, it is a fast, passionate song, and his harmonic timbres are fantastic. You idiots are too preoccupied with the delicacy of romantic Spanish pieces. Fisk did well

yes of coarse u must be at the level of a musician to compare him to greatness...I probably cant play this...that doesnt make it sound good...also, what tone he has...its true Fisk would destroy me w/ a guitar in his hands that doesnt mean he could touch say Russell,Williams,Bream or Yamashita...I do respect him though...and he does stand out because of how differant he sounds...I liked better when he was younger.
