  • I love you. You're great. :)

  • @JuniixForever I love you too! XO

  • After using this method, what could you do to make the hair alittle less blundt?

  • @kaivilyn Make one more cut... using the method described in two of my videos... "layer cut your hair' and 'create long layers for long hair'. This will give you long layers so your hair isn't so blunt. XO Carolyn

  • cool thanks i was windering now i know

  • @SuperSexyred30 You're so welcome!

  • I had no idea how one would approach the task of cutting one's long hair. This method is simple and makes sense. Thanks for posting it! PS: You are beautiful.

  • @TwinklestarPa Yep, its so simple really!

You are very sweet! Thank you! XO Carolyn

  • how often can i flat iron my hair to keep it healthy as i like having smooth shiny hair???

  • @Ms2010Jackie If you want healthy hair, not very often.

Use smoothing shampoos and smoothing conditioners to help smooth your hair. Apply smoothing creams on damp hair to help it lay down and shinen. I love them! You can also use finishing creams. XO Carolyn

  • @notaditdot thanks.

  • You are the first video I found to learn and trim my straight, long hair. I'm very confident I can do this with your very detailed directions. Thank you so much.

  • How often do I need to trim my hair if I'm growing it out? I've been getting it trimmed and it's not helping by doing it reguarly cause it just keeps being short. So how often do I need to do it? I also had my mom do it recently and only had her to do about 1/5 inch. Since the stylist cut too much off. Would that help?

  • Ha sweetheart. Sorry for the delay in response to you. Everyone's hair is different so it's hard to say. Rule of thumb? Not more than 1" every couple of months really. If you have healthy hair, you can get by with less. Its an old wives tale that trimming your hair will make your hair grow out faster. You are trimming it too often if it's getting shorter. Stay tuned for my next video, and I'll show you an inexpensive way to grow healthier hair, skin, and nails! XO Carolyn

  • @notaditdot its not exactly and old wives tail so much as your getting rid of the dieing ends of hair

  • @GothicPrincess21212 Getting rid of split ends is important, but all of your hair is basically dead. Trimming your ends won't help your hair grow however. If your ends are relatively healthy, they only need a trim every couple of months:o)

  • I like your video, it's very useful. Thank you

  • You're so very welcome! XO Carolyn

  • i think you shouldint get hate comments like what OOGLESKS cuz they DO NOT even kno you! but anyways not bad advice your trying your best to help us youtubers, i thanks yoou :D xoxo

  • I thank you too!~ XO Carolyn

  • this lady needs to quit SMOKING that raspy voice and bad completion are sure signs of tobacco use

  • I have beautiful skin. My complexion is and always has been good! I had a throat infection when I was a kid and it damaged my vocal chords, fyi. Why don't you stop judging people you know nothing about.

  • Two sections always works well for me, but you can make as many sections as you like. I just like to keep things simple and don't sweat the small stuff:o)

  • @meggiblu Tilt your head forward.

  • Omg thanks for this lol. Going to the salon is too much of a hassle when this is all I want done.

  • You know it lady! XO Carolyn

  • thenak you so much , now my mom doesnt have to do it all slanted like she usally does.lol

  • That's very cool! (My mom wasn't too good with cutting my hair either.) lol Carolyn

  • Hello! I really wanna try this but scared as it might go wrong?

My hair basically is resting on my shoulders at the moment and I dont know if thats even long enough?

    Your Amazing! xx

  • How short were you thinking about cutting your hair?

  • hey, i just tried this cut after watching your video but the only problem is that now my hair looks V shaped from the back though it wasnt like that before, what did i do wrong?

  • Hey lady! That is really strange. Did you somehow angle your scissors when you were making the cut or did you cut your hair straight across? How does the V cut look? You may have stumbled onto something!

  • of course it will v that is why people don't cut hair like this. watching this chicks videos it is clear just a average often below knowledgeable chick trying to make herself known. lots of bad advice!

  • I want to thank you for your videos. I have been doing my own hair for years (good and bad results) but since discovering your videos, my hair has never looked better (except when I did the V cut in the back ... my hair is too thin and it looked awful).

  • Your welcome sweetie. I only wish I had more time to post more. One day I will!

I'm glad your hair is doing well now. Sorry about the V cut. My hair does not do well with a sharp V cut because the middle of the back of my hair curls up more than any other part of my hair.

When you start cutting your own hair, you really have to learn by mistake. That's how I learned for sure. Cutting your own hair is not something they teach in school. Best wishes always. Love, Carolyn

  • carolyn i have very long straight hair with a lot of grey i colour it with a dye from the chemist i go for blonde but its never blonde enough help

  • What color is your hair right now? (after you color it...) It sounds like you need more lift with your hair color.

  • my own colour used to be black when it started going grey i started dyeing it myself the colour i have now is a reddish blonde i live in the uk is there anything you can recommend to give me a more brighter even blonde colour thank you

  • You will get a better results if you use 40 volume peroxide with your blonde hair color. Use the highest lift blonde color you can find. (level 10) If you want to get rid of red tones, use an ash or beige color.

  • OMG I love you like so much like I really wanted to cut my hair b/c this lady messed it up so after watching you video in cutting hair I just counted to 3 and just did it and with you help LOL thanks so much you so RocK

  • You are so welcome sweetie! I am glad it worked out for you so well. I think you rock too! Great job on your hair! XO Carolyn

  • I just wanted to know how exactly do you measure or see where your split ends are supposed to be cut off at? I can never seem to find them on my hair. I know I have to have them but how do I trim them off if I can't tell what they look like?

  • Ummm.... They look like they're splitting sweetheart. If you have them you will know it. On darker hair, they can look white.

They look like a fork in the road basically. One hair strand with two ends. Where the 'two strands become one strand', is where the split ends end.

  • i've heard people say it alot, but what exactly is "relaxed hair"?? xx

  • Relaxed hair is hair that's been straightened. There are chemical 'relaxers' and non chemical ways of relaxing your hair. (like brushing and blowdrying, using hot irons, and/or using deep conditioning treatments, etc.) Hope this answers your question. XO Carolyn

  • thankyou! <3

    i love ur videos btw

    xx

  • Thank you sweetheart! XO Carolyn

  • Oh my ! I Love your Kitty !! She/he is soo Cutee :] I Have 3 Kittens .. I Love them !! I've been lovin Kittens since a baby. Thank you for your video !! I've learn so much from you .. Please make more (:

    -Arianna ♥♥

  • I love kitties too sweetie! I have 5 cats that were rescued from the local Humane Society. I'd have 200 of them if I could afford to! My kitters are the best! (Of course, I have one doggie who thinks he's a cat... He is surrounded! lol) Have a great day and thanks for the kudos! X0 Carolyn

  • ITHINK YOU ARE WONDERFUL! My mom passed away and she used to be the one who would cut my hair. Now that I found you, it has made a BIG difference, for now I know what to do and can be independent. Thank you so very much. X0

  • I am so very sorry and sad to hear about your mom. I wished I could take your pain. My mom passed away too, so I know how much that hurts. I think you are wonderful too sweetie! I am so glad you found me and that my videos help you! XO Carolyn

  • Hey lady!! I got to thank you so much. I loved your video and thank you a lot for sharing your tips with me. I tried hair cut at walmart once and it was horrible. Sometimes you pay to expensive paying to cheap. Thank you again!! I trimmed my hair like you said and turned out awesome!! I can send to you a picture!!!

  • You are so very welcome. Glad it helped you! I would love to see a picture of your hair. I can send you my email addy thru youtubes email service. Have a great day! Carolyn

  • Just go to the cheap hair salon at walmart and get it cur for $12 . Shes too old for long hair anyway

  • Good idea normally, but unless you know your hairdresser, you can never tell what you're gonna get at a salon. My #1 tip for great hair, is to 'know thy hairdresser'. Even then, the best of hairdressers have a bad day. I know. I was one for many years. It's sometimes more reliable to know how to cut your own hair if you want too. You are right about my hair. In my hair makeover video, I cut it off shorter. It looks 100% better now! And yes, I'm older than dirt:o)

  • ur cat is so cute ^^

  • This video is great. I have bad luck with hairdresser who are confused between a trim and a cut. Thanks so much.

  • You are welcome. Hairdressers not listening is why I taught myself how to cut my own hair. Its something they don't teach you in Cosmetology school, but it's worth trying to do it yourself, than getting a hairdresser who doesn't listen to your hair requests! Chop, chop, whack, whack! lol

  • Thankyou...very helpful. I have very long hair, and I'm more terrified of hairstylist then the dentist. They never seem to get it even.

  • thanks for the tip, im from nyc and its so expensive, i tried this, i have really long straight hair, it worked well, i had my friend just even out the back.

    thanks

  • You got it lady! Thank gosh for friends who can help us with the back! Glad it worked well for ya!

  • I used your tutorial and I must say it was great one. Thanks for sharing this. :D

  • Its way easy to do too! Thanks for sharing with me too!

  • i like your cat,lol

but anyways, your advice is amazing, THANKS :3

  • What exactly are "Split ends"?

  • Its when the ends of the hair strand split apart into two, sometimes three pieces. Sometimes they can appear white in color if there are a lot of them. They are also visibly apparent so you'd know if you had them. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks, and love your outfit!

  • Thanks for the tips... I never even thought about using a marker as a measure to cut with. I'll be trying this in a few minutes...Thanks a lot :)

  • Just be sure when you cut it that you use the same pressure when you pull your hair down. And keep your head steady at the same place, looking forward. Make sure your hair is smooth and tangle free too. If your boobs get in the way, (for longer hair) you'll have to make adjustments for this. Pull your hair to the middle or to the side;o)

  • how often should i trim my hair in order to prevent split ends?

  • About once every few months. Thats all it takes. Only cut around 1/4" or 1/2" at one time though, or you'll end up with short hair since hair only grows about 1/4" a month.

  • ok, thanks!! i love your videos and your advice i fantastic; i tried out the long layers technique and it looks great; thankyou! :D

  • Brushing too much and brushing while your hair is wet, both stress your hair. If most women brushed gently, then brushing it more wouldn't be as much of a problem. Unfortunately, we live in a fast paced world that can cause us to rush through it. Brushing while your hair is wet stretches your hair which can cause it to break off and that can give you split ends.

  • how does brushing too much, brushing while its wet gives ur hair split ends?!

  • FAT KITTY

  • Your welcome lady! I'm glad it helped you! Just a reminder that this technique isn't fool proof though. There's no such thing as a perfect haircut. It may look perfectly good, but its not perfect because people aren't perfect. (although we should strive to be!) Who cares if one side is 1/444" shorter than the other. People who notice little imperfections in you, need to get a life. As long as you are happy with the results, thats what matters!

  • Thankyou so much!

This helped me quite a bit-- I just used it to trim my hair, and it looks 100% better.

    :]!

  • Hope it goes well! Just take your time. I was a hairdresser in a busy salon for many years. I became a Cosmetologist cuz none of the hairdressers I had been to (before) listened to me either. I wanted to be one hairdresser who made a positive difference in others' lives. I sure know how it feels to have more hair cut than you ask for. Total bummer! You just feel naked when too much hair is cut! And you don't feel like anyone listens to you either! Double bummer!

  • I am totally going to try this in a couple of minutes :) thank you very much :)

I'm very excited.. my hair is very long, and my bags are short, and I usually cut my own hair, because I've noticed that people always go shorter than you want, 2 inches turns into 6 for me, and :) I know that I would never do that :) not to mention when I was younger the woman cut my ear with scissors and it sort of traumatized me :(

It's funny now, but it hurt when I was smaller :)

    THANK YOU A MILLION

  • im going to try this today, thank you! :)

  • Just remember, its not a 'perfect' method. There is not such thing as perfect hair. (that I've ever seen) If you're worried about how it will look in the back, have a friend check it and clean up any unevenness. This method has always worked well for me tho. You just need to remember to keep your head the same when you cut both sides and hold scissors level. Do those things and keep the length as equal as you can by yourself.

  • thanks for the tips, im straightening my hair now to cut hehe

  • I love your kitty its so adorable!!

  • Yet again another awesome video. Thank you so much for all the valuable info. AND you look gorgeous;o) Happy Day!

  • thankyouthankyouthankyou soo much

    my split ends hate me
