  • Lousy,the once sharp KINKS,at their most 70's low end.These cool 60's images don't help one bit.

  • @PAULLONDEN Fuck off, snob.

  • NAUGHTY TUNE

  • not the best 1 , ,has t be said!!!!!

  • Ray Davies is about the only guy that I've heard that sings with his accent. A very underplayed and unappreciated group. rock on. Funny my 8 yo [ozzy/stones fan] was rocking out to this and he thought it was a new band...LMAO. gotta love kids xcept when thay laugh at our vinyl lp's and cassette tapes [members only jackets] I never owned one, thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

  • I disliked because it showed early Kinks video to a late Kinks track.

Low Budget upload...either way it's all good.

Apologies to whoever, but this was weird...

  • Ray Davies is the Superman. Ron Paul is a feeble flickering gas lamp compared to the nuclear hyperenergy of Ray Davies. Ray Davies is an original thinker - Ron Paul is an intellectual fake - borrowing the bad ideas of failed fascists.

  • What has Ron Paul got to do with this?

  • are they British?

  • @27jengirl Yes.

  • RON PAUL IS SUPERMAN!!! Ron Paul 2012!!! Let's change the world, support FREEDOM!!!

  • @HiawathaMohawk Ron Paul supports and in turn is supported by one of the largest White Supremacist organizations in the United States. its that what you want in this country?

  • @jewboyjwr You are a liar and scum, go kill yourself and stop breathing my air.

  • @HiawathaMohawk

    You mad bro? Google it.

Besides, namecalling? Does that really PROVE anything besides your strawman tactics?

  • @jewboyjwr Google "israel did 9/11", END THE FED.

  • @jewboyjwr You come up with that crap on your own?

  • @8902654

    You mad? Google it.

  • @jewboyjwr Don't worry, ron paul won't win. The elections are rigged. Obama will win by a landslide unfortunately:(

  • @coldhardfacts

the romination will be the rominee in their rigged puppet show!!!

  • I'm making a parody of this song, called Charlie Sheen.

  • I'm making a parody of this song called Charlie Sheen.

  • Like the montage. Moves along in an upbeat fashion like the song.

  • Lousy montage video. Great song. Shame isn't not a live performance with video that we're seeing here. Listening to the song without this video trash is more satisfying, to me.

  • I wasborn 40 years too late...

  • Oh, this is really cool!

  • 1:57 - which clip is this from?

  • @minischmetterling Do it again!

  • Such a great group having a great time..always smiling and just playing the crowd..great music

  • Just 1 of Rays masterpieces. Great guitar work by Dave.

  • Nobody writes a song like Ray!!!

  • favorite kinks song

  • great song!

  • god, i love this band .

  • best line (i'd like to fly but i can't even swim) makes me smile everytime i here this song

  • all there other songs suck. Tell me the good ones!

  • @Leprechraun sunny afternoon is bad ass!

  • @Leprechraun Ok, that's crazy - Victoria, Village Green Preservation Society, Come Dancing, Lola, Shangri-La, Days, This Time Tomorrow, Have a Cuppa Tea, they have a million songs that are spectacular. Start with the album Arthur, then Lola vs. Powerman, Village Green Preservation Society, those three are worth any band's whole output.

  • @Leprechraun

    Strangers

    This Time Tomorrow

    Sunny Afternoon

    Apeman

    ...

I just realized I listed most of the songs from Lola vs. The Powerman and the Moneygoround. Check that album out.

  • the first time I heard this song was on a Northwest Airlines flight in 2003 on the in-flight audio system. I LOVED it then and I LOVE it now.

  • Incredible Brilliance...listen also to "Apeman" by the Kinks...excellent song.

  • This kind of reminds me of the first line in 666 the Number of the Beast.

  • Great Tune ! Songs like Rod Stewart's "Do ya think I'm sexy" or Rolling Stones "Miss You" were Rock n Roll answers to Disco.

  • a clown on the guitar... that is soo cooooooooool 0_o

  • who'd they nick the bass line from, i know i've heard it on some pop disco song before or did someone nick it from them

  • I was just in my boyfriend's car listening to the radio on our way home from a broadway show, and this song came on. I said "Wow, who is THIS?" He didn't know who it was. But when the song ended the deejay said who it was. I love this song!

  • Fucking kinks are awesome !! the guitars are so heavy on this song.

  • What is wrong with Sony that they would block this video from being embedded? Perhaps underrated tracks/albums from the late 70s selling so fast they need to be throttled so other music has a chance? How does it make sense to keep the product you sell inaccessible and unknown?

  • Anyone from the Boston area remember when Duane Ingalls Glasscock (clone of Charles Laquidara) from WBCN played this song for three straight hours in 1979?

  • one of the best tunes out there

  • As young constuction workers in the late seventies we used to go to GO-GO bars at lunch time. The places were Packed. The GO-GO girls loved to dance to this song. I can still hear them slaping there 7" heels on the stage when I listen to it. I still love the Kinks but going to those type bars has been long gone

  • i prefere batman

  • I love the driving rhythm and the guitar on this, it has a kind of ZZ Top feel.

  • awesome band!!!!!!

  • “There was a gas strike, oil strike, lorry strike, bread strike.

Got to be Superman to survive…” Just as true now as it was then.

  • Dave is MY Superman<3

  • sorry but i like SUPERMAN by DOC & PROHITION better.

  • Play this LOUD it sounds GREAT!!! I Love The Kinks !! yay!!!.. Lyndloo..xx

  • where has this band been all my life?

  • I love that bass riff.. just awesome..

  • fucking Love this song

  • hotties

  • hihihihiihihiihihiihihiihihihiihiihiihihiihihiihiihihiihihiihiihihihihiihiihihiihihiihihiihihiihihiihihiihihiihihiihihiihiihihiihiihiihihihiihiihihiihiihiihiihihihiihihihikhiiihhhiiiiiihiiiihhhiiihhhiiiihhhiiihhhiiihhhiihhhhhiiihiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihhihi

  • Ray and Dave are better than any Indian Gurus !!

  • @DaveLovesRealMusic well making a big political difference isn't everybodys personality. Paul made, and still makes great music that makes people happy. I know that when i need a pick-me-up it's Pauls music i choose to listen to. I listen to John and Georges music alot too. All great musicians for sure.

  • love this

  • study the Kinks.Good stuff

  • @8orwellish Right man , real class, genius even !

  • Love The Kinks! Great song - One of my favs!

  • After years my favorite song!

  • I figure the reason this band is not pushed by big media as say the Rolling Stones or The Beatles is because they decided not to sell their souls to el diablo. Nothing else explains it.

  • @kinachahue George harrision never sold his soul..when he realized he was being exploited as a mop top he gave it up and stopped performing Live for 20 years (and never again in the USA). Paul and Ringo were HAPPY to sell theirs and so were The Stones. MONEY MONEY MONEY

  • @DavelovesRealMusic none of them sold their souls, at all. George did perform live when he had a good reason to. I.E. concert for Bangladesh. Paul and Ringo were just different people, and sharing their music meant something a little different to them, it's not that they were selling their souls AT ALL.

  • @didyouspitonmyfish Well we can agree RINGO didn't find anything of VALUE in "spiritual enlightenmenr" what he found value in was actual VALUE (bottom line cash). Paul...I agree--he was a Mop top Innocent and in 1962 that's what you DID--play and HOPE you earned a living. getting a record deal was NOT selling his soul. When he matured he and John DID come to see the simplicity of their early songs and EVOLVED. Only as a SOLO artist Paul could have made much MORE of a difference politically.

  • @DavelovesRealMusic - Nah, Paul was never going to do that. His gig was being adorable and having all his Aunties love him. Like a jock or supermodel who everybody treats differently, Paul was treated differently cos he was the gorgeous one, wherever he went. So he played to that. Those kinds need to keep the attention coming. John, tho, was a lonely soul, w/ hard knocks, and never stopped trying to figure it all out. Paul didn't have to. He had it all. For him there was nothing to figure out.

  • Sweeeet!!!! haven't heard this in years!!!!!

  • turns crap at 16 seconds

  • I have Loved the Kinks every since I was 16yrs I'm now 63.5 Yrs Kept on Rock'n In the Free world!

  • Old, but still AWESOME!

  • классная песня

  • i agree my favorite for 35 years!

  • THEY'RE UNDERRATED.

    Thumbs up?

  • "Vorrei volare ma non so neanche nuotare..." ;))) :DDD SSSSSUPER!!! ;))) ;PPP

  • These guys are definitely the kings of this beat...

  • My teacher was singing this song to himself one morning. I guess either he was having a bad day, or it was simply a good song. I say both =]

  • hey girl- we goota gEt OUtTTa this place =JAMMMM

also, these guys are NOT underrated at all by those with taste ;)

  • ALL RIGHT!!!WHOO-HOOO!!!! if i was superman i'd fly you away!!!!!!

  • Bonjour, vous aimez les sixties ? écoutez et podcastez mon émission "le super son des 60's" sur le site de plumfm. You like the 60's ? please, listen and podcast my broadcast "le super son des 60's", connect to "plumfm". Salut et faites gaffe au rock and roll.

  • this is one of the rock songs of all time its so dynamic its seems to stretch reality

  • Some of you people are funny. She took 2 different videos and merged them brilliantly which is why it is not "in sync". The Black and White footage is from "Sunny Afternoon" done in the 60"s, and "Back Where WE Started" done in the late 80's.

To the peabrain that would care, the Eddie Van Halen version should be out soon.

  • Nice job putting vids 25 years apart (give or take) that were completely different tunes and pass it off as one song to vid. Kudos.

  • I love these blokes. They were as good as the Stones but never got the same acclaim.

  • I have the blue vinyl 12" long version of this single, signed by Ray Davies! best band ever!

  • Wow!, is this a good song! Fits right in with what is going on today! I cant believe all the dj-jocks who never play this song. I sick of the same songs on these classic rock stations. They dont know crap about good artists! The Kinks Rock!

  • Oh Yeah! Cheers.

  • Had not heard this in years (love my XM radio) awesome song and band. Thanks for posting it for all of us to enjoy.

  • Why do people find a song online just to rate it negitively anonomusly, do they have anyhting better to do? I have only rated two songs negitively once for the video (not the bands some person made it in a way that was VERY inapropriate) and another on acident.

  • I have a pigeon cheast.... :(

  • @moontheloon1982

My ex boyfriend from way back in the day said he had a pirates dream - sunken chest-He was thin . But he was just awesome.. he still is!

  • @moontheloon1982 I wish I had a pigoen chest. I think it would be awesome to be part pigeon. I could spend my lunch hour in front of the bank downtown eating bread crumbs along with the rest of my fellow brother and sister pigeons...

  • From what video is the scene at 0:27 taken

  • i love it ..

  • r.i.p. pete quaif

  • 103 000 views now ^^

  • Wow ! Nice Song Ilove it >1980 !! My first favorite Song. 1+

  • What's with the DISCO bass line and drum beat? Shame. Shame. Shame.

  • @TruthAxe Ha! Yeah, it was 1979... I think EVERYONE put out a disco record that year. Fortunately, this is one of the better ones... (read: catchy and not embarrassing!)

  • this is what i call MUSIC!!:D

  • aaaasw the Kinks in Cardiff about 20 years ago... unforgettable

  • I laugh at how different this version is from the live version on One For The Road.

  • Didnt the talking heads also do a song called I am Superman? Maybe im wrong! This is a great song though

  • @MrPireasxios REM did a song called I am Superman. Not sure about T Heads though.

  • I wish I could see him tomorrow!

But I guess I see him right now :) :(

  • the most underrated band in history!!!!

  • @fistfuck100 The reason they are underrated is because of that overrated shitty excuse for a band The Beatles.

  • @fistfuck100

    shut up you cunt!

  • @fistfuck100

    shut up you cunt

  • @fistfuck100 The Kinks were never underrated

  • @stratmentalist I also don t understand why some people are under the delusion that the Kinks are so underrated. If there is one fantastic band underrated, it s the one in my channelname. Better and stronger leadsinger, better powertunes, better live act, more diverseness in styles than the Kinks.

  • My only regret in life -- not being Mrs. Ray Davies!

  • LOVEly

  • Fine song, fine words, but I'm really not sure about that disco beat...

  • actually..... I like that disco beat

  • Good for you mate. I think I'm just missing the disco gene. Glad it works for somebody x

  • I still say Ray Davies was overlooked when they made the list of unique voices of the 20th century

  • @pigknuckle1 The Kinks were underrated then (60's-70s')and are underrated now. Way ahead of their time, one of the greatest bands ever.

  • lol you gotta love the evolution of the kinks... few bands range from 1964 to 1994. the low budget album was like there transition from 70's rock to 80's rock... which is a pretty radical transition really.

  • you're so right, and what i think is so great about it is that they weren't just *trying* to do it - the 80's sound - in order to stay current. they were defining it. that sound they have in the intro and the android sound to it - they were riding the front of that wave, not limping along - and yeah - having been around since '64, that's pretty amazing.

  • superman aint all that

id rather be ray davies than superman : )

  • This song is similar to Rock Kills Kid's song "Paralyzed". Rock Kills Kid must have sampled it.

    Good song though!

  • Roller Skating Days...woohoo!!!

  • I miss those days my boom Box, skates cruising down High Street at Ohio State and just jamming out

  • I waana fly but I can't even swim!!!!!!!! L.O.L. Inside we all have our doubts.

  • lolz some more than others : )

  • I LOVE this song, even tho I hate Superman.

  • saw the Kinks in 1980 ..... amazzzing ..or was it the.....

  • low budget tour at cape cod colisiem 1979 was great time!

  • I remember spinning this song back in the day when sex was safe and flying was dangerous!

  • Comment removed

  • I forgot they did this song, love this one!

  • The Kinks are seriously underrated. They are without question one of the best rock and roll bands of all time.

  • actually, they are the best

  • you forgot. Fly away and I'm too week.

  • When it comes to writing music, Ray, you ARE superman !!!!

  • agreed... same with singing and performing it :)

  • The Kinks are probably one of the best bands i know, (and yes better than the beattles, for me). Anyone of their songs are classic, ahead of their time, and incredible.

  • Agree with your opnion on the Beatles,, they influenced a generation and defined the 60's,they and the groups that followed them filled a need the baby boomers and the world sorely needed at the time. The #1 song on the charts "I Want to Hold Your Hand "replaced was by the Singing Nun.The Beatles ,Stones Kinks, Who, etc were at the rite place at the rite time,,but don't forget they were influenced by Elvis and all the Blues and Jazz musicians that preceded them. It all just flows together

  • @Baconbittz Don't forget The Who!!

  • This song is amazing! does anyone know what year it is? it sounds like today while being amazingly old! The kinks were so ahead of their time! unreal!

  • @theriptidemovement Like The Who, whose songs never sound "old"

  • @alabhaois This song sounds old, way old. It has a 70s drum-bass combo. The engineering is so late 70s.

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG

  • ME TOO

  • Why this song missed the Top 40 is beyond me!! It peaked at #41. It seems all the decent songs miss the Top 40, and songs that don't deserve to be in the Top 40 get there. Great tune, nonetheless.

  • "Who's foolin' who?"

  • That's Dave's

  • Probably the most underrated rockers , and among the most innovative

  • 1 Where Have All The Good Times Gone? 2 Superman 3 Waterloo Sunset 4 Art Lover 5 Dedicated Follower of Fashion 6 Life Goes On 7. All Day and All of the Night 8. Sunny Afternoon 9. Till the End of the Day 10. I'm Not Like Everybody Else The Kinks = GOAT
  • have a cuppa tea !

  • High Tec:

No, no, no, no. No want-ee that one. That one = filler. Even the best had lots of filler.

  • oh I know man , just goofin . Always did love Davies' sense of humor , though .Brilliant band .

  • @cabsouth In what way did they innovate? Innovate means to change people's behavior.

Chuck Berry innovated. Hendrix innovated. Eddie Van Halen innovated. Alice in Chains / Soundgarden innovated.

It's hard to say whoelse innovated in the rock idiom.

  • @TruthAxe They brought sensitive and smart character sketches and satirical content about people with ordinary, "boring" lives (often Engligh) to rock music. They also originated the fuzzy, gritty guitar sound you hear on "You Really Got Me" - inspiring a ton of hard rock bands and punk bands. Other big bands didn't sound like The Kinks in 1964. Now just about everyone does. ("Innovate" = finding an experimental or creative way of doing something different -and leads to being "influential")

  • Tune rocks..Ray rocks.

  • Better

  • love the kinks great band

  • it would be better if it was all in sinq. but CRAKIN song.

  • this song so applies to me.....I want to change the world but i can't even swim....

  • we should all be be supermen!!!! haha w all have it it us......

  • This song is STILL relevant-- even more so than when it was released

    Rock on, Ray!!!
