Yes the film resonated, but the sequels were disappointments. They were great movies, don't get me wrong, but not the watershed event the first film was. When one arrived at the T & A rave dance sequence in the second, one knew it was over.
In a sense, though, Jesus does deliver from "the matrix" i.e. the valley of tears and the shadow of death. He delivers both from sin here & now, and He delivers unto eternal life. And unlike Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions, He will not disappoint.
