  • The utah state bop need to be thoroughly investigated. The amount of time they give on some cases is far too much and then on cases that you would expect there to be a harsh punishment they give less time than similar cases they have had before them. they have no guidelines or any agency that oversees their rulings. Their sentences are according to their mood at that time and how many inmates they currently house. They have no one to answer to and they statues to support their outrageous whims

  • I love the way they handcuff the girl from the door slot, behind her back, and then attach a dog-leash. SEXY AS HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • after 3.25 years usually you can get a termination. STILL that is a long time to lock someone in a cage. Imagine how much worse it could get depending on where they get placed. I won't even mention the attitudes of 65% of the C.O.'s

WE are the real terrorist nation! Let's close guantanamo though. :/

  • @IrelandInfiniti think also that the usa is the only country that currently has life without parole for juveniles. which means that people under 18 can be left in a steel cage for the rest of their life. the usa is also the only productive country except for japan, south korea, china, and the occasional african and european case that sentences people over 18 to life without parole. for example, 30 in britain have life without parole but it has to be a second murder re-conviction after release.

  • @IrelandInfiniti in england though to get life without parole you had to be at least 22 and you have to have been paroled at least once and then killed somebody again. portugal and norway have 25 and 21 year maximum sentences for murder, yet got some of the lowest crime rates per capita. they focus more on rehabilitation than revenge, which is likely what causes so much violence down in the usa.

  • Tied with California as the worst, Utah also has less than 5% successful completion of parole. The system is Broke. The programs are non - existant. The money doesn't add up either. Between the cut they get from from barnes and noble, the phone system, food, fines, pay-to-stay program, slave labor, industries, now they are not giving out the normal $100 at the gates to 'help start a new life'. Homeless and on Parole. How does that work?... It doesn't! The intermediate sentencing does not work.

  • In many cases they over keep them, and they become victims of the system, while others they let out INCREDIBLY early for Sex offense or murder?? The extra money should go BACK where it belongs not hidden. Parts of Utah have some really great judges. LEAVE the judging to them...I don't even know why the judges are there anymore the prosecutor and police run everything now. Any amount of drug possession is a felony 3. Unless of course you are an actors son with pounds of marijuana in your trunk.

  • Felonyies go to state prison. Sentencing is taking out of the judges hands as he is forced to sentence 0-5 years. You have to parole, max out, or terminate. Parole is hard and anything will get you a tech. violation meaning a new court hearing back in jail. If it is dismissed now there is bad terms between the P.O. and parolee plus it isn't good to be shoveled in and out in and out. To max out that would be 5 years for a simple possession!?! To terminate you would be very lucky but I've seen
