I'd rather read the book without seeing his face or hearing his emphatic embellishments. There is something far more honest about a page of writing read alone than the writer reading it to an audience. I think he is not much of a performance poet, like Bob Cobbing or Charles Bernstein. But the poems stand up on the page, particularly Chapter I.
