YZ my man. I meet this brother in atlanta at a new years eve party in the early '90, and got a chance to catch him and a couple of his men spit some shit off the dome that was crazy. needless to say we partyed I was so fucked up. And YZ blessed me with some sticky icky, never got a chance to thank him so thank ya bra
word up, me too. back in the eeeeaaarly 90's after a concert, me and my homies got effed up with him and supa cat. they were both cool as hell. real down to earth, made u lose that awe struck like i'm partying with a star shit and made u see em as real humans. met domino, 69 boyz....... but i really flipped when i bumped into big boi, tommy the red ranger, and billy the blue ranger on the same elevator. i was out of my mind!!!!!!!!! hah! man boy .good times!
right!? and i was kinda young, young enough to still look at power rangers, so i was geeked! and i BATHED in southernplayalistic, so yeah man, it was surreal! funny thing is, big boi was like, "meh", and peaced out, and tommy and billy actually engaged in a conversation with me.
You know..... Being 40 years old now (2009) I was there when it all jumped off for the first time.
I know cats who started the game when it was all underground music.
Coo herk and spanky G and zefon and these cats...... Man them was the days! When rap was deep and had mad message. Now it's just a gimmick, A trick of sound and two or three word with no meaning.... I miss the thought that went into every line before the hook, so when the hook came it made you move. You couldn't help it!...
when I was on a day to day basis with him, his hearing loss was mainly in one ear and I remember you would have to talk to him on his "good" side... If you forgot, you'ld have half a conversation before he looks at you and says, "I'm sorry... Did you say something?" The brother is wise and doesn't mind sharing the knowledge. I'm definitely honored to call him my Big Brother... Now where's Booga Boo at? LOL One Hundred!!! Shon Pender...
That album was amazing! I remeber AZ. His style was laid back and it was cool. I haven't heard anything of him since the late 80's early 90's. Glad he's still kickin'.
Peace to YZ...I came up in the 80's and was inspired to hear some consciousness and then see the video was shot in a field in back of my neighborhood.
