That's a good question. Hakeem was more of a dominating force at center, but Robinson was the most all-around quality center I can remember. I guess it would depend. vs a player like Hakeem, or Shaq in his prime, you might want the heavier Hakeem to combat him on a 1 0n 1 level. But Robinson probably has the edge everywhere else oddly enough, due to his speed, good mid-range shot, and being left-handed. But both were great, I'd take either of those two over any other possible Center.
I'd probably take David too, very few players could do what he did. 2.5 steals a game, 4+ blocks a game, 11-12 rebounds a game, 26-28 points a game, even 4 assists a game as a center. Shooting a high %, and being a good FT shooter too. Total package. Not to mention his speed, and amazing defense.
Yeah, a lot of people underrated Robinson, for whatever reason I can't understand. The only thing I can think of is that they've never seen him play, plus think he can't have been good since he didnt' earn a ring 'til late in his career. But you're only 1 guy on a team of 8+, so there's only so much one guy can do. But yeah, in his prime D.R. averaged 2.5 steals and 4.5 blocks per game, along with his 28 points and 12 boards. Very very underrated player.

(i am talking about pre-duncan of course) so if you put robinson on the 94 and 95 rockets champ team, they would still win. if you put olajuwon on the spurs team in 94 and 95, they might not fare well.
2003 was the end because it was the end of the Lakers. Shaq and Kobe couldn't get a long a hundred miles away from each other. And Strength is something that not everyone has.

They're both players who play to their advantages. Shaq has bulk, power, and deceptive quickness, Duncan's got length/long arms and a wider set of moves to use, probably since he can't physically overpower people. Neither has the athleticism they once had, which so far seems to be favoring Tim.

Shaq is the premier low post offensive player of this era, which I guess is his main job, but he absolutely has to have a kobe bryant or dwayne wade type offensive player, and a solid defensive crew for the rest of the team, to win at a championship level. Duncan, however, is by far the superior player in nearly every other aspect of the game, and if he's not injured can win at the championship level as long as there are no gaping inadquacies with the rest of the team as a whole.

Yeah, a lot of people underrated Robinson, for whatever reason I can't understand. The only thing I can think of is that they've never seen him play, plus think he can't have been good since he didnt' earn a ring 'til late in his career. But you're only 1 guy on a team of 8+, so there's only so much one guy can do. But yeah, in his prime D.R. averaged 2.5 steals and 4.5 blocks per game, along with his 28 points and 12 boards. Very very underrated player.

they were both great players. hakeem had the repertoire of moves and robinson had a wicked outside touch and inside game. hakeem was blessed with better coach and a better supporting cast. (i am talking about pre-duncan of course) so if you put robinson on the 94 and 95 rockets champ team, they would still win. if you put olajuwon on the spurs team in 94 and 95, they might not fare well.

They're both players who play to their advantages. Shaq has bulk, power, and deceptive quickness, Duncan's got length/long arms and a wider set of moves to use, probably since he can't physically overpower people. Neither has the athleticism they once had, which so far seems to be favoring Tim.

They think all he do is power someone in and then dunk on them. Shaq is the premier low post offensive player of this era, which I guess is his main job, but he absolutely has to have a kobe bryant or dwayne wade type offensive player, and a solid defensive crew for the rest of the team, to win at a championship level. Duncan, however, is by far the superior player in nearly every other aspect of the game, and if he's not injured can win at the championship level as long as there are no gaping inadquacies with the rest of the team as a whole.
