I love how Yngwie changed the descending arpeggio solo outro just slightly. I think it fits it better than the original. At least, that's what I always heard in my head.
@Titasalvi97 No emotion? Why? Just because he plays fast? If he had played slow it would be full of "emotion" and "feeling"? You know that this is bullshit man, play fast or slow has nothing to deal with play with emotion...
Yngwie play with a feeling comparable to Hendrix...but to bad you are too closed minded and will never realize that.
@LucasRhoads Takes a lot of skill to play music and anyone you says that shred guitar is rubbish or the blues and slow music has much more feeling tends to be narrow in mind and never looked at other types of music.
Great skill if you play any musical instruments keep going as music must come from the heart. And if anyone say bull then you should ignor them and follow your own path
@Sira1973 Hell yeah, amen to this...you know, I guess that all songs have this "feeling", when a musician writes a song, he kind of put his heart and soul into it...but if you don't like his style, you won't feel this "feeling", you will just hear noise...i don't know, this feeling stuff is really complicated, is more of a personal kind of thing.
this was when yngwie was still cool and in my opinion its his last great live concert with a band because after this he became regarded as a joke because he plays so fast all the time where as back here he played a lot better and the japanese love yngwie the amount of malmsteen clones ive seen in tokyo is uncountable theres loads of them hes like the swedish elvis lol and only good concert yngwie did recently was the concerto suite and thats it he will be remembered as 1 of the best players
@castletriglav - I gather you don't understand the concept of an artist "covering" a song by another artist. The concept is NOT to do an exact copy of the song (what would be the point) but to do your own version. Think Van Halen's version of "You Really Got Me" by The Kinks.
if ya want to see a cover that does this song justice check out Joe Bonamassas new band "Black Country Communion" amazing cover and amazing band..well worth the listen
people can't stop talking about Coverdale and Blackmore, I mean come on, don't take it TOO seriously, it's a cover and it's live performance, they just did it for fun to entertain their audience ...
hahaha at ygnwie trying to get his guitar around himself.. holy shit. he looked like he was about to take that fucker out of tune the way he was trying to angle it around
Kinda funny, I talked to Mike Terrana (drummer) and he said Yngwie was THE biggest asshole on the planet! Great guitarist, but an ego maniac and completely egocentric!
That Solo Was Pure GARBAGE!!!! Super Garbage... Yngwie is a super player probably one of the best out there but that solo was Junk my 14 year oldnephew can do it way better

Is it a gardening implement?I saw the yingyang before his crash, years before & he was brill but,I still remember the Blackmore interview where he wondered why the ying was so obsessed with him. He's a fan.Why not stand up & say that his influence was master Ritchie???
Unfortunately Yngwie's greatest talent has alway been choosing the most unbearable duchebag singers on the face of the earth...the only exception maybe Joe Lynn Turner. I always wished he would have teamed up with David Coverdale, that might have been been a serious power duo..
Mike Vascera's vocals are out of tune, and he ruined the song when he yelled "Burn Motherf*****". Yngvie Malmsteen is a god on guitar, no doubt about that. No one can sing "Burn" like David Coverdale. Check out the album "Burn" by Deep Purple from 1974.

At least you have made some sort of attempt to defend his performance in relation to improvisational aspects regardless of whether one agree or disagree with you. To defend Zirfind who's reply was essentially "Yes Yngwie sucked but so what?" with your reasoning is irrelevant to where he/she stand.
I personally think Yngwie is great improviser. That's one of very few things about him that's actually good. However when it comes to him covering artists who have captured more elements of depth and feelings(like this one), Yngwie have often shown his weaknesses. I sympathize with many here who think he ruined this song. We can appreciate some things such as the fact that he have made attempt to play this piece and the fact that he's great player(in limited sense).
This doesn't mean we should all be silent about what he lacks. Everyone have their opinions and some of them are more right than others. But comment like yours(I often hear this when ever it's about Yngwie's playing) basically conclude that we should be silent about criticism and only emphasize the goods and things that can be appreciated. You are favoring the restriction of opinions, points and critiques based upon whether they favor (a) musician(s) or not.
unorth, just because you are an unquestioning acolyte of Blackmore does NOT give you the right to treat anyone who does not agree like an uncultured dolt. I have played guitar for over 25 years, the very reason I took up the instrument was because of Richie, I have not reached anywhere near that great man's musical achievements, but I am capable of making intellectual leaps of musical taste and ideas. Blackmore's Night is not MY cup of tea.
There's difference between admitting that "Blackmore's Night is not [YOUR] cup of tea" and concluding that Ritchie Blackmore is no longer Ritchie Blackmore these days.(As you have put it "No he is not Ritchie Blackmore...these days either is Blackmore") What you have said is that Ritchie is no longer Ritchie anymore because his musical project isn't your "cup of tea". And you are accusing me of treating you as "uncultured dolt" because you don't agree with me?
I wasn't treating you as such because you simply didn't agree with me. I treated you as such because apparently you can't see the music beneath their sounds. You may claim that Ritchie have inspire you to pick up guitar in the first place and that you have been playing it for over 25 years(which doesn't explain anything that much) but obviously your capability of listening to music is no different than classical experts who can't listen to classically oriented rock musicians.
If you are capable of listening to music beyond the sound of electric and acoustic instruments, you will know that what Ritchie Blackmore is doing now are conceptually, aesthetically and musically similar with what he was doing during the time of Rainbow. To enjoy Blackmore's music with Deep Purple and Rainbow while not being able to understand Blackmore's Night clearly shows that you've been only listening to sound rather than actual essence of Blackmore's music.
Just another fat Elvis....
