My favourite battle track for the game. Wouldn't it be nice if this had a full orchestra remake on the Distant Worlds album or something. The whole soundtrack is ever so slightly held back by that PSX and PSP, but no moreso than any of the older games.
This was my favorite song from FF Tactics. It just sounds so amazing and epic. It would be the sort of music played at Stalingrad or Berlin during WWII.

I find it funny how so many people still hate on FFXII, even here... Way to be loyal to the FFTactics development team, seeing as they made the game. In my opinion, FFXII was the best, simply because the overall setting of Ivalice was so engaging. Just as engaging as it was in FFTactics.
What you forget is, the enemies level up in tactics according to you. They are always going to be at a certain % of you main character, be it 50 or 200. That's just how the game was made.
to gafgarion's defense, he is just a pawn, but still tried to persuade ramza to join the "winning" side. all in all, he was just a man who lost his honor, not a man who schemed to harm.

When I first played final fantasy 2 SNES, I constantly ran away and never leveled up, which I would utterly fail at harder encounters and be forced to retrace my steps and find whatever I might have missed (finally leveling along the way). By the time Tactics came around, I was in between running/fighting most of the time. Till I had to run into the execution of the princess or w/e, which was a trap. Worse shit to ever happen. You can't backtrack to level up since you're isolated to only so much

I realize that FFXIII has dragged the series down under, sorry to fans of that entry, but i think it's one of the worst FF games EVER. All FF games i've never finished is because i got stuck at one boss battle or another, FFXIII i simply lost interest. FFXII was good though, gameplay wasn't the best, but it was passable and the story is what kept me going. It can't compare to Tactics though.
@Shiek2005 I totally agree. One thing about FFXII that did capture my attention was the soundtrack composed by the same gentleman that composed the soundtrack for FFT. His spirit and style was woven throughout the soundtrack of the game, and at times I almost got that FFT feeling :)

@anythingnew No, in fact the author who substantiated the claim based his theory that Zheng He, a famed Chinese explorer, had sailed to the Americas during his African voyage. This would have meant that he would have had contact with Spaniards, which historically would have been a gigantic deal. In addition, the author pastes in his own 'evidence/bias' and makes assumptions in favor to his claims. In addition, the guy also made another book stating that the Chinese sparked the Renaissance.
Know what I hated? Having like a 92% chance to hit...and MISSING. But then...the god damn Enemy...has like 18% chance to hit...and fuckin Criticals...it happened to me all the time. FFT has no mercy! The % lies I tell you! Aside from that it's a god damn amazing game <3
Dude, thinking about making great ost based on sync, frigging awesome (xcuse my bad english). This game had all the elements of epicness. So bad FF series are decaying in plot and based only in graphics. Sorry, just my opinion, but I found the latest ff12 and 13 shitty compared with this jewel.
@cloudani Odd. I've noticed that most people that adored Tactics also fell in love with XII. If you took the monster hunts the pacing was totally off, but I thought the plot was phenomenal. It didn't have nearly as many emotional battles as Tactics, but what it did have was damn good.
@ickyzorro I completely agree with you. Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy XII are both strikes of genius on Square's part. FFXIII was terrible though.

Those 2 battles (Execution Site and Wiegraf / Velius) are the "make or break" points of the game. If you weren't up to speed, the game let you know. Real quick. =]
Still, songs like this one remind me of how these battles between little sprites turned into an epic battle between life and death, where you put your heart and mind into every move you made. Or maybe that was just me. lol.
Battle at the Golgorand Execution Site: Archer in on the edge of a wall, +7 aim, knight in her crosshiers, 120 HP left, everybody is buying her time by taking on the archer, time mage and knight on the wall. Just the time mage has to move and she shoots. In comes the time mage to swat her with his staff, 20 DMG with an 89% rate. 45 Crit, she falls for an extra 86 DMG. DAMNIT! Oh, and need I mention EVERYBODY ELSE was on the wall as well, and my white mage was out of magic. >:(
When I beat Execution Sight for the first time I did a 'YES!' so hard my elbow rammedinto my stomach. I did it again on my current second playthrough when I stole that Blood Sword.
I just finished the DD, er, MD in TWoTL... But the lag sucks up all the fun! So then I tried playing my FFT file and I was like "WTF the effects are going at like, light speed!" And that's why I prefer the PS1 version. But I play the PSP version now because I got more powerful players and equip. Except for the 13 Chaos blades I copied before, I only got 1 right now. But the question is... Is Balthier+Multiplayer+New Equip+EPIC LAG worth it?
Fovoham Plains, Golgorand Execution Site, first battle at Riovanes Castle, and the floodgates at Bethla Garrison...those were all great battles, and this theme fits all of them perfectly!
No wonder this is my favorite battle theme in the game!
Oh, man the gates at Riovanes....that was tough. lol but fun. The memories that come from just hearing all these!!! Warms the heart. You can still hear your own frustrating yells, from a miss that was 85%. That's some bull, right there. F-in 85%?! Really?
I had "Blade Glasp" on my Samurai and I equip him with Maximillian. An enemy Thief tries to steal my Maximillian and had an 08% chance... But it worked! One shot and he stole my Maximillian. God, that pissed me off, I had to do a soft-reset ¬_¬
Oh my goodness.....that is a great deal more frustrating, indeed. Wow, that's terrible! Stupid percentages! I was never so good at the game that I had amazing equipment throughout, however. I always beat it with store-bought equipment. Kudos for your dedication, and I sympathize with your example. I'm certain there are a few different things of interest that can go wrong. This doesn't play at Zeakden. This plays at the windmill where you fight Wiegraf the first time. The song you're thinking about is called "Trisection", which was also played in the game's very first battle.
easy fix, high lvl (or power) black mage, one shot from lvl 2 or higher spell with arcane strength and their dead, also bring a theif with steal weapon.
lol yup i remember i had a hard time with that fight too but nothing tops the fight with Wiegraf/Veluis at that 3 part battle at the castle...god damn i got so frustrated with that one!
@joker70784 I did too until I found a way to cheese the fight. Wear Chameleon Robes and wear I think Feather Boots so Earth Slash doesn't hurt you. Set Hamedo as your Reaction Skill. Then you just walk up to Wiegraf, turn your back to him and end turn. He'll try to attack you with his sword, Hamedo will trigger and you'll smack him. Repeat till dead. Then you just gotta take out Velius. Elmdor was actually much harder for me. Goddamn Assassins. :(
@DonAgalloch That and the Wiegraf/Velius fight...... Both of those battles made me stop playing for like a week. And I had to restart because I couldn't beat Velius.
@SaintPaul122 Yup, happened to me on my first playthrough. Ramza was a Knight and it was literally impossible to beat even Wiegraf, nevermind Velius...I ended up quitting only to finally pick up the game again years later and beating it...And I'm glad I did. Incredible game and probably my favorite in the series.
@DonAgalloch Wow, I played that game so long ago I barely remember the story let alone areas, and yet I still remember having to replay that fight a thousand times before I got lucky and won.
@DonAgalloch I always hated that battle >_> till I figured out I need a ninja to break down "What's His Face's" sword and what not, and also need to get four other of my powerful units in battle to fight and kick ass.
@DonAgalloch I beat it first try in my currrent playthrough with Ramza as Monk/Guts, Mustadio as Engineer/Item, and three of my starting generics as Ninja/Punch Art, Lancer/Steal, and Time Mage/Black Magic, most or all of them with HP Restore, level 17-ish. Interestingly, the Time Mage ended up being a damage sink for the rest of the party, since the enemies seemed to think he was the biggest threat. Golgorand Execution Site isn't as hard as it's hyped up to be if you're well prepared. :)

Those 2 battles (Execution Site and Wiegraf / Velius) are the "make or break" points of the game. If you weren't up to speed, the game let you know. Real quick. =]
Still, songs like this one remind me of how these battles between little sprites turned into an epic battle between life and death, where you put your heart and mind into every move you made. Or maybe that was just me. lol.

Battle at the Golgorand Execution Site: Archer in on the edge of a wall, +7 aim, knight in her crosshiers, 120 HP left, everybody is buying her time by taking on the archer, time mage and knight on the wall. Just the time mage has to move and she shoots. In comes the time mage to swat her with his staff, 20 DMG with an 89% rate. 45 Crit, she falls for an extra 86 DMG. DAMNIT! Oh, and need I mention EVERYBODY ELSE was on the wall as well, and my white mage was out of magic. >:(

I just finished the DD, er, MD in TWoTL... But the lag sucks up all the fun! So then I tried playing my FFT file and I was like "WTF the effects are going at like, light speed!" And that's why I prefer the PS1 version. But I play the PSP version now because I got more powerful players and equip. Except for the 13 Chaos blades I copied before, I only got 1 right now. But the question is... Is Balthier+Multiplayer+New Equip+EPIC LAG worth it?

Fovoham Plains, Golgorand Execution Site, first battle at Riovanes Castle, and the floodgates at Bethla Garrison...those were all great battles, and this theme fits all of them perfectly!
No wonder this is my favorite battle theme in the game!

Oh, man the gates at Riovanes....that was tough. lol but fun. The memories that come from just hearing all these!!! Warms the heart. You can still hear your own frustrating yells, from a miss that was 85%. That's some bull, right there. F-in 85%?! Really?

I had "Blade Glasp" on my Samurai and I equip him with Maximillian. An enemy Thief tries to steal my Maximillian and had an 08% chance... But it worked! One shot and he stole my Maximillian. God, that pissed me off, I had to do a soft-reset ¬_¬

Oh my goodness.....that is a great deal more frustrating, indeed. Wow, that's terrible! Stupid percentages! I was never so good at the game that I had amazing equipment throughout, however. I always beat it with store-bought equipment. Kudos for your dedication, and I sympathize with your example. I'm certain there are a few different things of interest that can go wrong. This doesn't play at Zeakden. This plays at the windmill where you fight Wiegraf the first time. The song you're thinking about is called "Trisection", which was also played in the game's very first battle.

easy fix, high lvl (or power) black mage, one shot from lvl 2 or higher spell with arcane strength and their dead, also bring a theif with steal weapon.

@joker70784 I did too until I found a way to cheese the fight. Wear Chameleon Robes and wear I think Feather Boots so Earth Slash doesn't hurt you. Set Hamedo as your Reaction Skill. Then you just walk up to Wiegraf, turn your back to him and end turn. He'll try to attack you with his sword, Hamedo will trigger and you'll smack him. Repeat till dead. Then you just gotta take out Velius. Elmdor was actually much harder for me. Goddamn Assassins. :(

Ramza was a Knight and it was literally impossible to beat even Wiegraf, nevermind Velius...I ended up quitting only to finally pick up the game again years later and beating it...And I'm glad I did. Incredible game and probably my favorite in the series.

@DonAgalloch I beat it first try in my currrent playthrough with Ramza as Monk/Guts, Mustadio as Engineer/Item, and three of my starting generics as Ninja/Punch Art, Lancer/Steal, and Time Mage/Black Magic, most or all of them with HP Restore, level 17-ish. Interestingly, the Time Mage ended up being a damage sink for the rest of the party, since the enemies seemed to think he was the biggest threat. Golgorand Execution Site isn't as hard as it's hyped up to be if you're well prepared. :)
