A word of advice, turn your tube Fender amp to about 6, put your highs on about 8, your mids on ZERO, and your bass on about 8 also. put your strat on the neck pickup, no distortion device, and it will get a pretty good sound. take mids out and all those crappy distortion boxes(they are ok if used in moderation) and your tone will be big and beautiful. maple neck preferred.
@slowhand124 you're free to have your opinion, and if you feel the need to tell someone you don't like their sound then that's up to you, but realize that your opinion is just your own, and present it as such. Scooping mids or whatever works for you is not what everyone prefers either, most of the time that'll just make you disappear in a loud band mix. Give opinions and advice all you like but at least be humble about it. Cheers.
I love the strat tone you get, singing sustain with great definition and attack! I been searching for something similar and tried the lollar blondes. I have a real heavy pick attack and found they were very ick picky unless I had the volume halfway with the pickups flush with the pickguard. Would it be worth it to try the blackface or dimarzios to find something with a little more body while still retaining that clarity and attack? Thanks for the awesome clips in any case!
Your demos are the most professional and highest quality on youtube so far I have found! No cheap flattering, pure respect!
If I may ask your opinion - what do you think about Bill Lawrence pickups? I am more interested in strat kind pickups to upgrade my mexican 70's reissue strat (ash body, rosewood fingerboard) original pickups. Your answer is highly appreciated!
Nice tone. I´ve also seen your other video and these pickups really soung great. I´m about to replace my strato´s pickups and I´m also considering lindy fralin blues special. Have you tried them too? Any comparison you could make? Regards from Brazil.
Just installed a set in my 60's reissue MIM Sonic blue Strat. They sound better then I imagined.I have never heard such a well balanced pickup.Tones galore. They are incredible clean and even better with some overdrive added. This guitar sounds every bit as good as any boutique strat.Call them and they will give you A1 service in picking out your perfect pup.I was on the phone with a tech helping me figure out just the right pup.Excellent service and friendly too.Awesome Jason,Just Awesome pups.
I can't get over how close they sound to SRV's legendary tone ( and Jimi too )! I never heard anybody get THAT close... great job again .... makes me want to get those puppies so bad ...

Are those pickups hot enough to play some more modern music?
I'm asking cause I've got some amps that are master volume only so I like pickups that aren't too cold.
thanks

Pretty great stuff. What was the problem with the pickups the guitar came with?
seandog1234 3 years ago
No problem. Just didn't think they had an authentic strat vibe like the lollars.
