holly wasnt 6ft 3in but he was a big star, this is my favorite crickets record, and to think it was a b side, buddy like the beatles had no b sides, check out price and fame together and there version f this, its aok ,may be 30yrs old tho.
@jjeepster02 His born name was Holley yes. But his artist name changed to ''Holly''. Buddy was just a name he was called as a kid. His real name was Charles Hardin Holley.
Had this 45 as a kid. This was the "B" side to "Think it Over" but this tune really sent me (old timer's expression) the first time I heard it. It was really unusual to hear a piano, rather than guitar driven song from Buddy. Well done Vi Petty (piano player) this really had a fabulous vibe.
@drieg59 Amen to that..Buddy's gloriously UNIQUE voice with SUCH wistful lyrics; beautiful. This song ~ as with SO many of Buddy's masterpieces ~ ALWAYS 'chokes me up'; 'we' were SO very fortunate to have him as 'our voice' way back then, SO fortunate that I feel truly sorry for those who weren't part of the MAGIC of the late 50's..and then 3/2/59 the AWFUL day the music died.
Norm. & Vi. [NorVaJak] had MUCH to answer for but they did Buddy justice too as did Geo. Martin to Beatles later.
I remember the day our school got the news he was killed with Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. The night before their plane crashed just after leaving Fargo N.D. on a very snowy night. Not a dry eye in the whole school...
The thing is, with Buddy Holly, is he was unique in voice and style. So sad...
i like the first photo it shows buddy holly at his full 7ft6 inch height, most of the photos of buddy with other people often have him stood in a 15inch hole in the ground so he looks shorter

This song is great! Lemmy did a cool cover of this with Headcat, and even though he's Lemmy, you can't beat the original!

This lyric is so appropriate to me at this time.Thank god for poets, and the fact that it is an upbeat song is so clever and good.

Texans seem to be taller than most, Buddy at 21 was a giant with his talent alone.
