Lets get this straight.. LoL, HoN or Dota are the same game with different features, different pace, different feel. HoN seems to be a faster pace game whereas LoL is more enjoyable for people who are into MOBA style game. Dota 2 is going to be similiar to the original Dota mod of Warcraft 3 with new graphics, new heroes, items, etc. . All 3 games are not really competing to rule the MOBA style game genre, but rather, they are for different players.

When Pendragon, from Riot, learned that Icefrog got approached by Valve to remake DotA, he didn't want them to capitalise on something that belonged to gamers already. So he copyrighted the name "Defence of the Ancients" to Riot Games.And since Valve can't use the full name, they just call this "DOTA"

1. Download steam, it's a free community and platform and you'll need to download it anyways if you want to play DOTA 2

2. Download Alien Swarm, it's a free and fun game, that has similar specs to DOTA 2, if you can run Aliens Swarm, you'll be able to play DOTA 2 for sure, if not, you might still be able to run DOTA 2.

3. BONUS: download TF2 while your at it, it's an awesome free game! :D
