Any sub with a large voice coil MUST be broken in before they begin to get their true sound. And you can also run the risk of damaging the sub if you go slamming it at 100% of it's rating.

Well, Iv never broken in a subwoofer, and Iv never had one blow from not doing so either. But its a good idea. To let everything loosen up. I noticed that after a month or so my main subwoofer that I had after running it 1kwrms straight outta its box it eventually loosened up and got a little louder.

I have a friend with a kicker setup, his is 1200w, my other firned has a 900w Edge sub with built in amp, that alone is louder than my friends kicker setup.

I personally wouldnt recomend kicker.

I had two 10" Rockford woofers and wanted more bass so i upgraded to two 10" Kicker L5's. I got a more powerful amp, too however. I can definitely say kickers won't let you down. For an amp, rockford wouldn't be a bad choice at all. You should probably talk to an audio place and see what ideas they've got

i know you probley want a solid answer from steve, but i may be able to help you out... Rockford is probley one of the best brand out there... along with JL Audio.... both brands will give you big BOOM for your buck, if you dont mind spending a bit of cash go with Rockford or JL, you won't be dissapointed... and post some vids of your project man, sounds pretty sweet

Thanks for the advice, im trying to find the best quality for my money, e.g. i saw in a store near me, an FLI dual sub and build in amp set for £249, Then i saw a single sub with port but no amp for £199 Now i know FLI are prone to blowing so i wouldnt touch them, but im certainly not going to buy Vibe as i have had bad experiences with them too, so i will check out JL, Thanks.
