I do the Tara mantra every day. Make your (positive) wishes, summon her, chant the mantra, and then share the good vibrations to others. Your wishes come true. It works! Try it.

The miracle of this Tantra is that you do not need an initiation from a Lama, although it's good to get one, it is possible to establish a connection to the deity personally without anyone's permission.

In the Tibetan tradition innitiation is required, and there are 4 levels of tantra.

Not so, venerable mpeacebird. Ask your Lama, the first level whereby the practitioner visualizes Tara in front, and recites her mantra (with compassionate motivation) does not require an initiation. You are correct that higher levels do require initiations. And, of course, I strongly encourage people to seek initiation for the lowest level too. But, there is no need for the layperson to hesitate to practice this precious dharma, they can do so immediately, and with good result!

Hi there

I did the mantras: Om Mani Padme Hum and Om a Hum Vajra Guru Padma Siddhi Hum for years

which not only lead to spontaneous initiation by Kwan Yin, but also initiation into two sects of Buddhism,

plus Initiation for Boddhisattva Vows, Green Tara, Thousand-Armed Avilokiteshvara and the Bardo guidance by the Lamas and a Priest. Sometimes when the spirit is moved strongly enough, the rules fall away!

We are all Buddha, we can ALL practice!
