Ed Randell should explain why anyone needs a car that can drive 50 miles over the speed limit. Clearly, the only purpose of such as is outrunning the police and getting away from crime scenes.....

What the Gov doesn't understand is the "Assault Weapons Ban" NEVER BANNED THE SEMI-AUTO ACTION. It only banned FUTURE PRODUCTION of certain COSMETIC/VISUAL features on semi rifles. The guns still used the same ammo,same power,same pow, pow, pow. This is not 2 mention THE 10s OF MILLIONS THAT ALREADY EXIST STAYED LEGAL. They were grandfathered in. Same goes for the 100s of MILLIONS of magazines that existed too.

Gov. Ed. can try to tell the people what their NEEDS should BE. People don't NEED this item. Well, people don't need a car that is capable of going over the speed limit either. Cars cause MORE death than a ak-47 in the U.S. But some will say, guns were MADE TO KILL. Well,,, cars were NOT MADE to kill.. BUT the fact is, they do kill more. So would that make cars MORE EVIL, since they are doing more killing even when they were NOT made to do so ??

The anti-gun crowd are still trying to tell people that these semi auto rifles are machine guns, when they know they are not. They say these things on purpose, in order to deceive people into thinking that they are fully automatic when they know they are not. It worked in 1994, but people are much more smarter today on the subject.

If the 911 operator had informed the PD that the suspect was armed (911 was informed by the mom) SWAT would have been sent and the only person killed would have been the perp. Ed has violent criminals on bail killing people in Philly. If he would let the PD do their job and then keep criminals in jail he wouldn't have to worry about rifles with heat shields AKA "Assault Rifles".

"Assault Weapon" is a bogus term made up by the media to smeer law abiding gun owners. There is no such thing as an "Assault Wepon" There are Assault Rifles that are not sold in sporting goods shops or gun stored because they are regulated so heavily that only law enforcement and the military have access to them.

The Anti's want to ban anything they can. With their logic the 1st ammendment would only apply to a hand operated printing press.

For one they're no bigger or anymore dangerous than what is out there now. A hunting rifle is extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. But that is beside the point the number one reason we have crime is because of criminals. Hey I own an AR-15 it is an assault rifle according to big Ed and I will not kill cops or anybody. num 1: they aren't BIGGER than any other gun. I fact, all hunting rifles shoot biggers and more power cartridges than the "so called" assault weapon

num 2: changing a magazine takes 2 sec to a trained person.. so having 10 rounds capacity mags instead of 30 won't change a DAMN thing

num 3 : the second amendment was written to allow citizen to keep and bear arms that were NOT for hunting,NOT for sporting purposes, and that would equal or match the actual military waepons of the time

The point is no gun owner who has never committed a crime in his life should ever have to justify himself for exercising his 2nd amendment right. Not to you, not to the government, or anyone else.

You telling me that I can't own an "assult rifle" is just as absurd as me telling you that you shouldn't be able to post anything on the Internet. The Internet didn't exist when they wrote the 1st amendment.

I didn't notice you're in the UK until now. As an American, I have the right to own weapons - a right our Bill of Rights guarantees.

If you're against these "assult weapons" and have never shot one, my invitation stands to anyone in or visiting the Minneapolis MN area. The evil stigma that exists around these weaons is absolute garbage caused by ignorance. If you follow proper safety rules, firearms are completely safe and incredibly fun. I think you might change your mind after trying it.

I am not "against" normal people having these weapons, I just fail to see to point of it. I see that they are mostly used for recreation, but at the end of the day, they are still killing machines, and in the wrong hands, will ruin lives. Personally, I see them as a luxury, not a right.

In Britain, we are allowed small guns and rifles, and weaker shotguns, but you must have a permit and and I think you must do a test or something.

Fair enough, but here in America - they definitely are a right; specifically mentioned in our "Bill of Rights" - part of our Constitution - the single most important document governing our country. No offense, but the founders of our country left your country ;) and started their own so they could have these rights.

2) what's the point? ask the Korean store owners who were being faced down by mobs of people who were looting, setting fires, assaulting and murdering people during the six day long 1992 LA riots.

I think people in similar situations have a deeper understanding of the POINT as some of them used so-called assault weapons to DEFEND their lives, liberty and property
