@sandman8185 We'll see what happens with B. Richards. If the Kings sign him then they are Cup contenders, no doubt. If the Kings don't, it'll depend on who they do sign. Not sure who though. My biggest non-Richards guys I wanted to see all got signed: Belanger, Cole & Fleischmann.

@sandman8185 Great question. I think so. I think the biggest issue for the Kings is scoring goals at even strength and on the PP but in terms of Defense and Goaltending, they are set. If the Kings can fill their LW gap with a decent player or Brad Richards they will be contenders in the West and for the Cup. The Nucks and Wings are great teams but I don't see that lasting for too long in their current situations, they'll both have to rebuild soon.
If it makes you feel any better pretty much the entire city of Edmonton (myself included) shit its pants in joy when it was announced Smyth was returning.
And I'll have you know it's not boring here. We have a larger-than-average shopping mall. Deal with that!

Schenn I love as a PROSPECT, that is the key word. he might be good in 3 years. feel free to reacquire him then. the Kings were a year away from being a perennial contender, so it wasn't really compatible with their short range plans. now I look to see who is going to graduate from Manchester and fortify our blueline. otherwise, the Kings have no major holes or worries going forward.
@bri719 If the Kings sign a decent LWer before the season starts, I'll feel pretty good going in. As much as I liked Simmonds, he wasn't going to be on the team forever and have a statue outside Staples Center. You're right about Schenn, he's only play 8 NHL games, he's got a ways to go.

I think LA's 3rd line is in transition with Handzus not being resigned and Simmonds being traded but the Kings are on their way to rockin 3 solid lines. It'll most likely be Clifford, Stoll, Richardson, solid. I like the Kings D and goaltending over the Sharks, even after you overpayed for Burns.

Best possible person to get for LW is SIMON GAGNE!!!!! Perfect fit for Mike Richards but an alternate LW-er could be Jussi Jokinen. Plus of course Brad Richards would be perfect but the Kings would be the dark horse in that race. Another good unexpected signing would be Tomas Kaberle or Christian Ehrhoff when he refuses the dumb Islanders for actually thinking they can sign him
