  • Plyos used to be jumps from (increasingly higher) platforms + immediate jumps onto another platform, using the 'stored energy' of the jump down to assist the jump up, lessening the time between landing & jumping to develop rapid-onset power. Athletes weren't allowed to do these dangerously explosive plyos til they could squat heavy. Modern plyos use sport-specific skills w/sport-specific loads. If those are plyos, athletes have did them long before they had a name. It's called practice!

    If done explosively yes. The definition of Plyometrics is "Any exercise in which muscles are repeatedly and rapidly stretched ("loaded") and then contracted (as in jumping high off the ground or in push-ups with a clap between them, fast footwork drills or agility exercises). The aim of plyometrics is to improve muscle power.

    well I have an exercise science degree and your 100% wrong. They were hand eye co-ordination exercises, not plys!. Plyometrics are designed for increasing explosive muscle reactions times & speed. Plys are all about "power". As a former sprinter myself also I DO know what i'm talking about

    by the end of puberty, everyone has an allotment of fast and slow twitch muscles fibers. certain exercises aid in developing fast twitch fibers, but there are no exercises that "produce" them.

  • plyos arn't only ment for jumping... its for speed and agility. They work the muscles to quick twitch for more explosiveness....

  • This is definitely agility training. Its because they're many fast small movements. not one big fast movement like olympic lifting, look it up.

  • Here go look up "Plyometrics cicuit" there s a few that randy does with team quest and they do some quick moving training too so they get faster and stronger.... plyos r for improving quick twitching muscles...lol

  • Here go look at this one too and go to 3 mins. "Plyometric & High Intensity Interval Training" they are doing things similar to Bjs training. lol small quick movements are what are needed to improve speed and power. in this they are also doing lower body plyos....lol

  • plyometrics uses something called the body's stretch reflex response (which you can only get from those big movements i mentioned).

    this is speed-coordination, and same with that other video. it's okay if you dont know what plyometrics are.

I do more then just plyos for jumping because there are more then just jumping plyos lol. that makes sense right? if not its ok. you should play more then one sport. I do and understand that.
