  • She is flawless live. I'm so amazed!

  • the only other russian song that's so sexy is..of course..trololo

  • "Apres Moi le Deluge" is a famous quote supposedly from King Louis XV during the French Rev.

  • I personally think russian is the most beautiful language in all the world and love russia as a whole, for some reason most of my american friends don't? weird ;), and I could listen to that bridge alllll day!!!

  • Русские строки - это же Пастернак! Хорошо вписались в этот фонтан эмоций!

Russian words in this song - it's a poem of Pasternak, emotionally she sang them, well done!

  • What dies après moi mean?

  • @NerdyHomosapian after me! :D

  • @NerdyHomosapian french for after me

  • @NerdyHomosapian It means "after me". So, the full French lyric is "after me, the flood'.

  • @NerdyHomosapian "Apres Moi le Deluge" means "After Me the Flood."

  • Good lord, Regina, you are so rare! I can't comprehend why you aren't bloody famous! Your brilliant and so naturally talented, no need fir autotune, xoxo

  • Fevrale dostat chernil i plakat

    Pisat O Fevrale navsnryd

    Poka grohochushaya slyakot

    Vesnoyu charnoyu gorit.

  • the russian wrote:

    February. Get ink and weep!

    Writing about February violently,

    While the roaring mud

In the spring of a black light.

  • @naxalilixxex not exactly, in originial the author use the word that can't be translated in english properly

  • gosh russian part is smth that makes this song even way stronger. well mostly cuz i'm russian but also.. those words are so penetrating. and her russian is perfect for sure

  • around the 3:00 mark...oh wow.

  • я люблю эту песню своей мой любимый пение его на шоу талантов в моей школе!

  • 1:28... The most beautiful smile I have ever seen.

  • i cry when i listen to this. too bad that non-speaking russian people can't understand epicness and touching lyrics of this song. sorry for bad eng either.

  • that sweet face she pulls after that last note... so sweet :D

  • This song is so wonderful. There is no way to top a song like this. You'd have to be a Beatle or some one from Pink Floyd to even try.

  • I love this song... and the Russian is so amazing! lol...... sounds so different and beautiful..... :)

  • Makes me cry everytime. And chills. Genius artists like her are so rare.

  • I always wondered what perfection sounded like.

  • Probably her best live performance ever. One awesome artist with a piano and no BS. Certainly the best version of this song. The studio version doesn't compare.

  • I never saw anyone singing with so much passion, even David Bowie.

  • She's so adorable at 4:35 that little smile. I want to be her soo bad...

  • She's so adorable at 4:35 just look at her face. Makes my day

  • They way she speaks, just her way with words and the fluid language she weaves is so beautiful, she almost makes love to the microphone. It's such an astounding thing to witness.

  • She looks so much like Tori Amos here for some reason....

  • Прекрасные стихи Б.Пастернака.

    Великолепное исполнение песни.

    Браво,Регина!

  • i like this version much better than the studio version. she always sounds awesome live.

  • Russian-To-English:

    February. Get ink, shed tears.

Write of it, sob your heart out, sing,

    While torrential slush that roars

Burns in the blackness of the spring

  • ReGenius!

  • Russian has never sounded so sexy :3

  • @OnexSilentxTear Couldn't agree more!

  • @OnexSilentxTear You have probably heard russian language once or twice in your life. yeah be the judge!

  • Not only is Regina Spektor inspiring, but inspiring is Regina Spektor. She is simply gorgeous. Please watch me attempting at trying to capture a little of her essence on my channel. Thank you(:

  • ya se ya se a que me suena!!!! a los impromtus de Schubert.. sensacional!!!

  • Happy Birthday Regina!!!

  • please, song, please marry me...

  • This performance is simply amazing....It takes my breath away everytime I watch it, which is like, 20 times a day. Regina Spektor is amazingly talented, she has the most beautiful voice, she is absolutely beautiful. I love her music, it is individual, it speaks a poem (literally), it is simply outstanding. Bravo! :)

  • Wow this is AMAZING !

  • Kak krasiva!

  • Powerful song! Thank you.

  • ох, когда начинаются стихи Пастернака, всякий раз мурашки по коже начинают идти. Первый раз когда услышала это выступление, казалось, что не понравился стиль исполнения, но забыть не удалось... очень самобытно

  • first time i seen her sing this, well on youtube, all i can recall from the back of my head was, (to myself in my head)"Dude, you still there, are you watching this?SHHH!shh shh," blank.....paralyzed.....amazed, in awe. (to myself again) "what a beautiful...what ever the heck i just experienced , guess a combo of genius and beauty of such human." truly love her and her hypnosis....

  • the Russian part is just amazing. no one could perform Pasternak's poem that good!

  • At the end of the song, right after 4:00, I feel she's fighting off a nightmare as I watch her.

The song is genius, the performance is amazing.

    Love the Russian bit. :)

  • i love reginaa!!! :)

  • i wish she had more songs in russian :( i love her music!

  • This was the first song of Regina's that I ever heard. Hard to think that I could have gone nearly twenty years without stumbling across such an amazing, beautiful, talented artist. But yeah, I heard this song and promptly scoured the internet for every other song I could find by her. I love her to the depths of my soul.

  • @TheGreatVanoo Exactly the same circumstances. Except for the twenty years bit. Heh...

  • I love this song!! At my dance concert we had tha Seniors Dance a contemporary to this song.. it was AWESOME!!!

  • @KiMrOx142 was it mixed?!! my senior year is coming to an end and we want regina!

  • @Briansantiago11 What do u mean by was it mixed?

  • @KiMrOx142 like a remix version or the actual original song

  • @Briansantiago11 The actual song :D

  • @KiMrOx142 just beautiful :)

  • I love the personality in her voice, and getting 3 languages into it, and on top of it pulling off the odd noise in the beginning makes this song epic <3

  • My favorite song of hers. She's a true artists.

  • Verdaderamente impresionante!!!

  • All I can think of when I hear her voice are those Apple commercials that used that one song. This is why artists should never sell their music. It's WAY to distracting to listen to them after you see them flogging ipods.

  • @Krumpenstein A Regina Spektor song has never been used in an apple commercial has it? Feist has with 1234, and Yael Naim had New Soul on the MacBook Air commercial. Both of those artists are somewhat similar to Regina, so you may be confusing them... but of course, no one is quite as amazing as Regina.

  • @wasae335 i watched yael names commercial, i mean qith her song..yeah they are kinda similar..but both of them are uniqe..they both has their own way to make us love them :)

  • 3 people are old, lame and cold XDD

  • I love that face she makes at 4:33, just adorable.

  • is she singing russian @ 2:17??

  • @SuuzieQ

yeh, that part is my favourite, it sounds so amazing!

  • Февраль. Достать чернил и плакать!

    Писать о феврале навзрыд,

    Пока грохочущая слякоть

    Весною чёрною горит.

  • @Zarety11introva a kto avtor etix slov?

  • @ekolisss Boris Pasternak ñ_ñ

  • @Zarety11introva Б. Пастернак :)

  • @Zarety11introva I don't understand you but I'll give you thumbs up anyway!

  • @LyricalWax jajajajaj thanks :P

  • I wish I could meet her and tell how awesome it feels to have someone Russian out there defying the stereotype that people view us with. I cannot thank her enough :') Apres moi, le deluge!

  • There are 3 retards who dislike this video.

  • Augh I love Regina but for some reason that choking noise she makes between some lines is making me feel ill.

  • Her voice here kind of reminds me of Billie Holiday.

  • btw after the russian part when she sings the verse again "You can't break that which isn't yours" she combined two pronouns - russian "твое" and english "yours" which are interpretations.

look yourself she do it all the time on all these "Apres moi" videos xD

    awesome.

  • What does she say right after "Après moi" ?? Because I know the song is in English/Russian, but "après moi" is French, and I don't get what she said right after, Idk what language it is.

  • @BloometteForever

it's "Apres moi, les deluge! After me comes the flood"

  • @localoliver Oh so it was French still, LOL I don't even recognize my own language now !! Let's say it's because of her accent !! LOL

    Thank you.

This song is so amazing <3 My favorite of her after "Us" <3<3<3

  • @BloometteForever

    don't mention it xD

yeah, 3 different languages in 1 song ;o

    she's still awesome! <3

  • @BloometteForever She sings the song using three languages, english, french and russian. its part of what makes this and her great.

  • this was the perfomance that made me fall in love with her music a few years ago

  • The best performance was in Chile, the last october 13th!!!!

    I love her!...She's an angel.... = )...

  • mas vai ser linda e foda assim lá em Marte, puta que pariu

  • Now THAT , is how you sing =)

  • I had the luck of her coming to my place. She's a beautiful person who acts like she's been a friend of yours for years.

  • god i am so glad the cc i'm going to offers russian. TOTALLY taking it.

  • well its just statistics, in every 396 people you are going to get 3 internet trolls. love you regina!! <3

  • SHE IS THE BEST LIVE! I mean some people don't sound good live like taylor swift (sorry) But I do like her songs

  • This is so spiring, makes me feel like floating, made me forget my problems, dunno why. <3

  • I adore just about everything about this woman- her voice is amazing, her playing exquisite, and to top it off, the gratitude in her smile when the fans scream for her.

  • Hey check my video of this song! with lyrics, even in russian! :)

  • The song and Regina are just fantastic...

  • she makes it look so easy

  • I love her so much... <3 :)

  • what i find incredible is that when she sings, she is so involved that her eyes have a million expressions through it. at the end, when the applause begins, she has this shy smile and then this huge grin and is like this kid all over again. it's quite magical.

  • I hate when somebody starts talking politics on youtube just becuse someone on the vid belongs to this or that ethnicity, which somebody likes and somebody doesn't. Guys, that's not polite, calm downm please, and better listen to the song. It's marvellous, BTW

  • I'm not quite sure there's a better live song in this whole world then this one. I'm probably wrong, but I can't think of one right now. Oh wait. 'I'm Down' by The Beatles at Shea stadium. Something by the Beatles is almost the only thing to compare to this. And Regina might actually win. That's stuff she does at 2:55+ is non-commentable.

  • Ms. Spektor, when will you visit the Philippines?T_T

  • One of the most brilliant performers I've ever had the pleasure of seeing live.

  • @mugflub soooo jealous you saw her! have not heard of her coming to stl

  • Регина очень красиво спела. Стих Пастернака передал все чувства и эммоции... Душевно...

  • this song gives me goose bumps every time.

  • What beauty was lost by Russia in the name of this girl. And when she starts to read Posternak indeed tear asks...

  • I love her so much. I imagine her music as the music of the most artistic people listen to as they work, its so creative and powerful. Everytime i sit down to draw i listen to her and a beautiful energy flows through my wrists and gives me the feeling I'm drawing something beautiful. She's so gorgeous, too. She's not one of those artist who when you watch them live it makes you want to go on a diet or go running or something. She makes me feel so comfortable in my skin

    Absolutely amazing.

  • @OmniCreampuff I Don't think i could agree with you anymore!!! You are so right!

  • @OmniCreampuff that's so wierd, i listen to this when i draw too, and when i write too. she's aspirational.

  • @LovePeaceGlee

oh emm gee. Im drawing while listening right now, i swear regina's music just has this massive creative energy!

  • @Shmoofles i know right?! when i listen to her i can see what i'm writing in my head and for some reason my wording gets more creative. i want to hav that affect on people some day!

  • @OmniCreampuff

omgee, painting while listening to this right now. she makes me feel so inspired :)

  • Regina Spektor is a Master of the art of Music.

  • <3 I love this song.

  • she is amazing. her music is just wonderful.

  • Live this Live vid, <3 Reg Spek

  • @bananatree94 She's not Russian-American. She's Russian-Jewish. Her parents are Jewish that lived in Russia and Regina was born in Moscow. She moved to New York when she was a teenager.

  • @MayasaurusRex "Jewish" is not a nationality, it is a religion. So Regina is a Russian-American who is a Jew. Likewise Muhammed Ali (Cassius Clay) is an American who is (or became) Muslim, and Jim Morrison is an American with Irish and Scottish decent who is Christian.

People should stop mixing religion and nationalities, if you don't know why then please do not start a hollow conversation.

Just my 2 cents here :)

  • @iska9 Most Jews see ourselves as a distinct nationality and culture. It's just that the Jewish people are the only practitioners of the Jewish faith. And a Russian Jew in particular would see herself as distinct due to the nature of Soviet ethnology (on Soviet internal passports, you had to label your ethnicity, and Jews and Russians were distinct and un-hyphenate-able). Only German Jews tended to see themselves as German first, Jewish second.

  • @Alephvoid you are mixing those two, religions and nationalities.

you want to tell me that if I convert to Judaism, I will get a new Passport ?

you want to say that Christians are not the only practitioners of Christianity, and Muslims are not the only practitioners of Islam ?

Distinct culture for sure, but then again it is not a nationality.

Here is a question for you: if somebody asked you where you were from, what would your answer be if you were a Jew ?

  • @iska9 Oh, OK, you're defining nationality as a nation (ethnic group) with a state. That's what I meant when I said nation - an ethnic group/culture. You mean "citizenship."

Jews see ourselves as a "nation" in the sense of an ethnic group, going back to the Torah. Christianity and Islam are non-ethnic religions. You can be any ethnic group and be a Christian or a Muslim or a Buddhist. But the line between Jewishness and Judaism is very fuzzy. For example, there are secular/atheist Jews.

  • @Alephvoid that means I was right about Regina being Russian-American.

You are arguing semantics there, every religion has got few ethnic "sub-religions" in it, like Korean Christians in the US, they are Koreans who practice Christianity in their own way.

Ethnic religions are bound to a geographical place, seeing how Judaism is world wide spread I wouldn't call it ethnic, some scholars may debate pro or contra this argument though, and that's another reason why one shouldn't mix those two.

  • @iska9 Like I said, you meant nationality as in citizen of a state, and I meant it in terms of ethnicity. We are both, in fact, arguing semantics.

I don't understand why you think ethnic religions have to be geographically bound - the Roma's religion certainly isn't. You also seem to dislike the idea of ethnic self-determination. I mean, if a Kurd moved from Iraq to America, would you insist that she called herself an Iraqi-American instead of a Kurdish-American?

  • @Alephvoid you don't know what you are talking about do you?

Kurds are not only from Iraq, they live in Iran Turkey and Syria too, they don't have a state, so a Kurd from Iraq in America is Iraqi-American, and a Kurd from Syria is Syrian.

FYI Kurds practice few religions, some of them are Jews, so what would you call a Jewish Kurd from Iran?

That's why I said please do not start a hollow conversation if you do not know some essential facts.

    The song is amazing btw.

  • @iska9 What? I used Kurds as an example because they're in a similar situation to Jews - in a diaspora, and they're even worse off because Kurds don't have a state (like Israel). It's a hypothetical question, calm down. Though you did answer it, showing that you put citizenship of a nation over ethnic self-determination when identifying people. That's all I wanted to know. We're looking at identity politics from two different angles.

  • @Alephvoid I really didn't want to continue the discussion, but wanted to point this out, Israel is not pure Jewish, although it strives to be so.

And again, there are Muslim, Jewish and Christian Kurds, so if you call them an ethnic group it is not based on their religion but on other historical and geographical factors.

Besides, I don't think that dividing the world even further is a good idea, everyone should live in his country peacefully without that "ethnic self-determination"

  • I can't stop listening to this song! It's amazing!

  • She sings the last part in russian

  • whenever i hear regina's strong and powerful voice it makes me want to cry :)

  • ahhh, teary *blink, blink*

  • i love how the album version is so true to how she actually sings. with so many mainstream pop singers, their live versions are different--high notes are skipped, etc. but regina is pure talent. she doesn't need any studio boosting. she's heavenly just by herself.

  • she is a genius
