He is the connecting link between the likes of Langston Hughes and James Baldwin and the hip-hop nation's rappers need his memory and genius to inspire them beyond just attitude so they have something worthwhile to pass on to the next generation after them.

i can't believe so many people are talking over the guy - he's a genius and people feel their small natter is more important. i saw him last night and felt a bit ashamed on behalf of England about how many people showed no respect, getting up non-stop, phones going off during the most moving bits and so on. I ,too, have been suspicious of FebRUary as the choice. 2 reasons:

1) Dr.MLK Jr's day is in Jan.-"Let's get it all out of the way at one time.Let's not bring all this up 2 times a year.If Jan wasn't so important (still happy from Xmas,celebrating The New Year!), it would have been Jan.

BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY,

2) people are spent from the holiday season & it's COLD ! (ANDshort !) -keeps the celebrating, parades, marching (activism/protest) to a minimum. You want to stay in snowy rainy cold days
