There are no data to suggest it is global warming that is causing the erosion on these islands. The seas have risen a foot in the last 100 years. In geological time, we are in a post-ice age era. Only a few thousand years ago much of North America was covered with a huge sheet of ice. The planet was warming long before the industrial age. In fact, it has been warming for a few thousand years. Yes the world has been warming, which is natural warming like less than half a degree every 100 years or something like that but not like 1 degree every ten. 5 years ago in San Diego summer was fresh now it is humid hot. The sea doesn't discriminate. There are thousands upon thousands of low lying islands in the oceans. If one is being submerged then they all should be submerging the same amount. Sea levels have been measured by satellite and found to be FALLING around Tuvalu and the Maldives!

Even the IPCC acknowledges that sea levels worldwide were rising faster in the first half of the 20th century than the second.

While land based ice lose leads to oceans rising, it does not account for islands sinking faster than other land masses. Islands form by geological forces, such as volcanoes, and 'die' by erosion when island formation ceases. This lifecycle of an island is active with or without 'global warming,' and can prove nothing about global warming.

Also if the planet is warming it has been linked with solar cycles and other natural causes. Mankind can do little to affect global temp. Learning to adapt might be more prudent.
