@Death666wish This is the most informed post I've ever read regarding GM's suppression of Pontiac. I thought I was the only one that knew what I was talking about. Gm could have sold Pontiac, but they were afraid of the consequences. A real company, would have bought Pontiac and made it the Gem it was always meant to be. Pontiac was icarus, it flew too high, so GM took its funding, gave them sub-par products, and eventually killed it. if treated right, Pontiac would truly rival BMW
@PontiacAlfaHSV Yep...you got it bud...Every pontiac Ive ever been around hasnt had the "problems" most GM cars do (bland, boring styling, poor design, cheap interior (the leather interior at least, almost ANY car with cloth looks cheap),lack of power). My dads 01 Grand Prix,I have to say,If GM made that RWD along with the Firebird and GTO,it would probably be one of the best looking cars ever made.I know my 97 Trans Am has a better interior (and exterior) than almost any car made now...smh at GM.
I dont like the 4th gens very much but the car in this commercial is the best looking 4th gen ever made. The black WS6 LS1 ram air with those chrome 17" 5 spokes is just fucking sexy...
man i love how fkn mean this car looks like its just gonna run over everything!! i want a trans am so bad i need to get rid of its little brother a 97 firebird haha
Correct but, Lutz stated out of his own mouth the Trans Am was finished. Being that he isn't American, I can see why he had no connection to the Trans Am. He could have made things right by bringing it back before he walked. He did what he had to do...I don't like ending the Trans America, just not a smart move in America. Now GM is content with flooding the street with their super Car the Vette. Why now save that car and make it a special order car, and bring back the TA...
@myround0 And where is Lutz now? >=} muhaha, Pontiac shall return! At least hopefully it will, i cant imagine another muscle car war without the company that held out almost an entire century beyond the end of the original. Pontiac was the first (65' GTO) and last (79' Trans Am) of the original muscle car era, you just cant have a new muscle car era without it. And with GM getting back on their feet and people begging for a true performance devision, Pontiac could be a huge hit right now
This was the commercial that made my wife want this car...Off we went and bought a 2000 WS6 black on black...just like this one...still have it 10 yrs later and it still runs like a cat shot in the ass! Will never get rig of this one, sits in the garage next to my 1958 Corvette.
my dream car, i want a black one just like that but i'd like to swap the chrome rims for some black ones. too bad gov't motors is phasing out pontiac. I wish buick and gmc was the ones getting the ax
The government isn't phasing out Pontiac, GM is doing it. They got rid of the trans Am long before the bail out issue. You can credit Bob Lutz with the death of pontiac, the minute he killed the Trans Am, there was little to keep pontiac afloat. Give the real credit to the guy who deserves it all, not the Government...
I love all American Muscle Cars such as Ford, Chevy, Pontiac, Dodge and others.
If Pontiac would've brought the T/A back it would really add to the collection of 2days american muscle like Camaro and Mustang up against the Jap and Euro cars.
I love this commercial! Saw it once and it got etched in my brain! The wild cat sounds were a great touch, even if this is actually a bird of prey. The burp was a little too much IMO.
This was such a great performing car. I wanted one but bought a GTP instead. I needed a backseat, trunk. This was GM acting its best at the time. I've been a GM guy all my life. I recently heard from my cousin (also a GM guy) GM pulling the plug on pontiac all togeather. This was a rare commercial even in 97! Will we see them again soon?

@Ratmouth66 problem is pontiac ended up being just a bunch of re-badged cars. GM held Pontiac back, otherwise they would've ruled the muscle cars.
