Ya buddy, just keep at it! PG's had a massive head start on most of us (like since he was 7 or something). Seriously, listening to him has solidified my determination to someday go to GIT just like he did. I've already improved by leaps and bounds over the last two years alone thanks to PG's inspiration. Hang in there, it just takes time and discipline :)
true dude, it can be hard sometimes, especially if your trying to play fast. You're going to want to play fast right away though it is important that you focus on clarity, technique and articulation of the individual notes. This way when you play fast it will sound like Paul does! If you don't it will be all scrappy, and there is plenty of examples of that already.
Paul had to force himself to play for the first year, and even then his technique was so bad until after the second year that he couldn't even play Barracuda by Heart.
don't give up, there's more to guitar than speed, no disrespect to paul but if he was half as interesting a rthym player as he is a lead, he'd be bigger than mj
Paul is a great rIthym player mate. His lead is very rthymical and you can only achive that if you know how to rthym properly. LIsten more Paul's stuff such the Hendrix tribute! You will change your mind..I know;-)
Musicians that quickly rise to fame rarely stay long enough for anyone to remember them years down the line. Let's leave all of that nonsense to the pretenders - meanwhile Gilbert is a multi genre encompassing talent who's played in a smattering of successful bands, toured with G3, written over half a dozen solo albums and has a worldwide fan base who send him angry e-mails to make him reform Racer X.
WOW !!!! THIS IS A GNARLY SONG PAUL.... A SONG RIGHT OUT OF THE 70'S .... WAY BETTER STUFF THAN ANY METAL CRAP I'VE EVER HEARD !!!!

This album has flat production and dull drum parts. It's a good thing Gilbert's on it.
