@specnigger Danney Carey is an absolutely amazing drummer but his style is completely different. Tool is basically heavy rock. This is Industrial Death Metal, of course there are going to be differences in the style of drumming. And try to imagine Tool drumming to these riffs/vocals. It just doesn't fit..

Pretty much how most of us feel xD..Though on a sidenote: I dont see the issue in useing triggers, As quick as he's going its pretty much needed to keep it from sounding like a bunch of random clinks and clanks. Lest from what I understand.
This is why I prefer Gary Thomas (this guy) over Todd Hansen (current drummer): Thomas never used gravity blasts, he always used blast beats, even in No One Wins, where as Hansen has to use gravity blasts.
@InjecteDVenoM I found out that what Gary (the drummer) was doing at that one section of the song was a double bomb blast on the snare...it's the same thing that he used in No One Wins, except in that one he only used one hand ;)
The "original" drummer, Gary Thomas (this guy right here and the drummer in the album Dissimulate) is 10x better than Hansen is in my opinion. It's a shame that Thomas broke his foot and ended his drumming career :(
I'm conflicted... One half of me says that I didn't know it was possible to play most of the Berzerker stuff on drums... But the other half says he didn't play it very cleanly.
But still. Holy fuck man. His blasting and gravity blasts were damn impressive, although not perfect.
And yes, of course he's using triggers. That's why he sounds as much like the recording as he does.

@specnigger Danney Carey is an absolutely amazing drummer but his style is completely different. Tool is basically heavy rock. This is Industrial Death Metal, of course there are going to be differences in the style of drumming. And try to imagine Tool drumming to these riffs/vocals. It just doesn't fit..

This is why I prefer Gary Thomas (this guy) over Todd Hansen (current drummer): Thomas never used gravity blasts, he always used blast beats, even in No One Wins, where as Hansen has to use gravity blasts.

The "original" drummer, Gary Thomas (this guy right here and the drummer in the album Dissimulate) is 10x better than Hansen is in my opinion. It's a shame that Thomas broke his foot and ended his drumming career :(

I'm conflicted... One half of me says that I didn't know it was possible to play most of the Berzerker stuff on drums... But the other half says he didn't play it very cleanly.
But still. Holy fuck man. His blasting and gravity blasts were damn impressive, although not perfect.
And yes, of course he's using triggers. That's why he sounds as much like the recording as he does.
