  • Sooo... if you have the money, get both.

  • Been thinking about getting one of these for a little while now. Are both compatible with any turntable & mixer set up?

  • at the end of the day the only way to notice a dj has skills is 2 tables and mixer nothing eles no softwares nothing.

  • especially when you turn the record very slow you will notice that the timecode of traktor is much better than seratos,

Also the signal proceeding in traktor is better. tested both last weak and i like traktor more.

  • NI should do a fucking DAW...

  • @wantedwanted21 Yes, this.

  • @wantedwanted21 i don't think so. there are already so many DAWs around... and a few really good ones too... no point in throwing ANOTHER fish in the sea... the choice is already hard enough as it is now... (i personally have long ago chosen Ableton Live and everyday become happier with that choice) ... anyway, truth is, NI has what it takes, just look at their Komplete and you soon come across the thought that there isn't much more to do except for a full on DAW...

  • @AndrewKynos Well i have been working for a few weeks with Ableton and i love it...i have been working with FL studio before but it feels like Ableton is capable of better things but the only thing that i think is better on fl studio is the midi roll..

  • I’m not one who urges to “cheat” using sync buttons, but I do feel it can help a DJ’s creative process to let a computer think on an operation simple enough for automation so that a DJ can already be thinking about the next thing… effects, song selection, halfbeats, sfx, loops, etc. With everything a digital DJ has in his/arsenal today, they should NOT have to be hung up on BPMs.

  • I feel there’s a market for “scratch” DJs and beatmatching DJs which are more prominent in the club scenes, in which the only real application for vinyl is a spinback once a track ends. That said, I would love to get a comparison on the BPM engines of four major DJ programs: Serato, Traktor, Virtual DJ, and my favorite (and most underrated) M-Audio Torq.

  • will the serato vinyl work with traktor software ?

  • you can sync traktor and ableton also :)

  • how bout u try virtual dj lolllll!

  • Denying the usefulness of Traktor and programs like Traktor is like being an artist that refuses to learn digital art; you will forever be stuck in the past. While people fly by you making incredible artwork that advances the edge of art, you will be sitting far in the back of the room.

As a scratcher, imo, you can't beat the sound of vinyl. But for mixing music, not using traktor or something similar is just going to hold you back (hint: not every music track exists on vinyl)

  • @mo5x u spoke my mind... thumbs up... the days of vinyl r slowing ending, embrace new technology... if u still want to carry cds n crates of records around good luck as me ITS DIGITAL DJ-ING... THE CROWD WILL NEVER STOP DANCING COS I'M USING A CONTROLLER

  • both suck... even if q-bert promotes both.....and nice NI intro... ;-)

  • Qbert should've took tha camera crew in there; and laugh'd @ whoever was puke'n(lol).. aka Blaze

  • can i have those guitars???

  • mani alwyas loved djing too bad i never learned how not even to party just to mix and mess with sounds

  • 2:37 quick little baby scratch ^^

  • Serato and Ableton through The Bridge is what I want right now.

  • Traktor, serato or virtual dj

  • @supermen133 oh no... sorry, but virtual dj isn't even allowed to enter this race...

  • @AndrewKynos virtual dj is for begginers bottom line.

  • @djdiligence i don't think virtual dj is for anyone at all; it's just too... lame. i mean, it kinda works, i guess, but, it looks and feels like it comes from toys'r'us... if you're gonna "begin" something, that something might as well be good to start with.

in short, from my point of view, seeing a "dj" use vdj is like a construction worker using legos... =P

  • Comment removed

  • @AndrewKynos i agree with you, a like serato and traktor simply because u have the option of playing regular vinyl or timecoded so its a tool.

  • @djdiligence its just when they come out with laptops to do gigs without turntables just a mixer and they take all the venus with no experiance.

  • That's so dope he has a piece of wax with the time coding on one side and then normal vinyl on the other side!

  • THIS IS A TRAKTOR SPONSORED VIDEO...... FUCK THIS

  • @djfunkp if it was NATIVE INSTRUMENTS sponsored then it would have the NI logo on it, and the NI intro.

  • hey nice demo DJ Qbert, i'm an ex dj from the mid 80's to mid 90's i never used aanything but records and im thinking of getting back into spining but not sure what to buy now...i dont have any equipment anymore. what would you go with for a beginner with a low budget in the new age of mixing these days? im a dinosaur and feel lost in todays world but i know i can pick it up in a heartbeat.

  • or mixvibe and torq

  • Numark Virtual Vinyl and INTIMIDATION TOUCH

  • now what about mixvibe and torq

  • torq 2.0 for me

  • ja so richtig schräge töneja

  • yo do your fingers get arthritis?

  • @Vanti5 Why I've watched this vid 10x is a mystery. ANYWAY lol occasionally mine hurt after like 12 hours of scratching. THEN I started binging on opiates....no problems then lol

  • q berts scratchin is sick as fuck

  • Can we please get an update on this vid. SL4 vs. Audio 10

  • SOOOOOOOOOO.......... DJ Q-Bert (scratching god) just said traktor is better, even though he was afraid to say it outright. The next time some another guy who gets on my case about serato being the best ever blah blah I'm sending link straight to him. Crazy how some products keep ruling the market even though there really isn't a reason for it.

  • @mmmcalnan Just because this guy gets paid to say Traktor is better does not mean it is definitive.

Serato is a more stable, easier-to-configure software. Traktor is more fiddly but has more features. Different shit for different people.

  • @macgyver2210 agreed 100%,I haven't found anything better than Serato. And he never said Traktor was better.

  • @mmmcalnan get off a Q-Bert's nuts you fag

  • traktör...

  • serato is like a pair of decks...traktor is like a studio with 4 decks and loads of other things u can play with inside the building...although traktor uses more power..but i guess u need to if doing more stuff.

great to see serato finally worked out that a "sync" is not for old fashioned 2 deck beatmatching and is used for multiple decks and loops....and follows traktor again.

no point in this realy as traktor will always do what serato will do...but never the other way round!!

  • Clap clap Qbert

  • Hmmm. He should try threshold setting in Serato.

But I didn't expect another result from a DJ ho acutally has a contract with NI.

  • SONY ARE TERRIBLE COMPUTERS>

seriously they make the worst laptops.

Go to the traktor support site.. there is plenty on information that will help get your PC working mint with the S4 (which in my professional opinion is one of the best quality audio devices for DJ's on the market.. ever.)

Serato SL4 etc.. is made by RANE which is always very high quality... BUT i have seen the factory and met they guys from NI and I can tell the quality control on their products.. and the support is the BEST.

  • traktor *

  • U tha shit!!

  • Traktor Btch!

  • traktor for sure. dubstep/house

  • I Not From Europe and I Use TRAKTOR :D lol!

  • Well there is DJ's and there is Turntablists, For a DJ traktor has the most features for live remixing.. where serato has the best purity of the original craft of spinnig wax in mind.

They both win in my mind because they offer different strengths. And yes i have both.

  • @djNimbusNZ I'm having some issues with CPU overload in traktor 2. Didn't ever have this issue in Traktor Pro and since I got my S4 it's been having audio issues. If I run the program w/o controller it's fine... running midi messages screws it up. I can't afford a macpro so I'm stuck w/ the sony... is Serato better on hardware?

  • Serato fails

  • For me traktor is a lil too digital. but then again im using duo

  • Serato rule

  • traktor wins

  • Don't really give a fuck about scratching dude. Lets see Effects comparison, how fast songs load, sample decks. okay they both scratch thats nice -.-

  • @GeeksCreation not tryna hate but stfu actually u can try scratching i care bout songs loading faster but scratchin is what djin is about

  • @Drifting2458 djings is more than scratching you penis head.

  • @GeeksCreation well to me its for mixing songs sratching and mixing and shit u fag

  • @GeeksCreation - wow who the fuck wants to hear scratching for so long listening to the same samples to scratch on you can't dance to that smh

  • @GeeksCreation Good point. I'd personally say Traktor for that BUT Serato still has a wide variety. The other good thing with Traktor is the 8 cuepoints instead of five, better for live mashups. Serato though is sort of more industry accepted though ya know? I also like the lower price tag of Traktor. The interface, SL is better but the Audio6/10 looks nicer. and @Drifting2458 It's vinyl emulation, that includes scratching and mixing. Loading depends on your CPU. so STFU. :)

  • @MysteryMixes thanks

  • @MysteryMixes does serato have control vinyl like traktor? is serato more expensive than traktor

  • @matthewwv1 OH YES. Both have CD's and Vinyl control. The Traktor vinyls are slightly cheaper but the new MK2 vinyls are better and the same price as Serato. Traktor is definitely cheaper. If you want to get into live remixing etc....or controllerism/turntablism combo.... Traktor is the software.

  • Where do I get this magical one side Traktor one side scratch sample vinyl 12"???? And I was thinking that you had to change settings in Traktor when switching between vinyl and timecode ... how is he doing that???

  • @noodledsoup amazon(dot)com, search: Trakseal

  • seratoooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the best

  • Video is kinda unfair, he's using an SL 1, which is a 16 bit card, against the audio 8, which is 24 bit, which explains the audio degradation at the slow speed. Serato is the company that made Pitch n Time, they know how to stretch audio.

  • @FYICREW Pitch n Time is for keylocked tempo shifting.. by running the record at a slow speed, that is just a straight pitch shift. Given, 16 bits vs 24 bits isn't really fair! Good vid tho.

  • Passionate responses. Same vibe as vinyl vs CDs.

I own both, using a xone 4D as my interface(prev audio8) for traktor and I recently purchased the SL 4(prev SL 3) to aid in running a club. Everyone is using Serato. In the states it is the standard, but thats changing since TSP2 came out and it being known that the rest of the world prefers Traktor is making people think twice. But I sold my SL 3 and payed extra so djs can swap without pulling wires, and that's so invaluable in a live performan

  • WHAT IF I WANT TO EXPAND? WITH SERATO I AM ABLE TO EXPAND MY SET UP TO A VERY GOOD AND IMPRESSIVE SET UP. FOR INSTANCE.

  • humble dude, i like it.

  • PUT YOUR HAT ON STRAIGHT

  • @djsuploaded SHUT UP SLUT!

  • traktor is for those who want to be really intricate with there mix's, and do things that not only make a crowd rock but would make a hardcore turntablist say wow.

serato is meant to be simple, that's the point. its meant to bang out a mix really quick and on the fly, no preparation is needed generally. i prefer serato, i like the simplicity and feel. traktor is a beast though for sure.

  • @dancingmachine01 Well said mate. Both have upsides and downsides.. it's up to you to choose. This is Traktor vs Serato is vinyl vs CDs vs MP3s all over again.. TOO MANY OVER-OPINIONATED PEOPLE TRYING TO FORCE THEIR POINT OF VIEW ONTO OTHERS. Just let me do what I want to do with what I want to do it with.. judge me by my results, not my methods... and chill the f*** out!

  • i use 2x cdj 2000 and djm 800 and use virtual dj pro but want to move towards using traktor or serato ? what one would be better for me ? thanks

  • 4:07 LOL

  • traktor - more for the club dj and layering different samples and sounds in sync with one another. requires LOTS of time for beat gridding and getting those grids PERFECT. preparation is NECESSARY (i'm a traktor guy)

serato -more on the scratch and hip hop scene... parallel w-forms allow beat matching of non-consistent beats (think old school hip hop or live rock performances... where NOTHING is a constant BPM.. try to beat grid a Beatles song in traktor and you'll know what i mean haha.

  • @jlcool007 lulz at beat gridding a beatles song... i've been there

  • @jlcool007 your not a traktor guy your a bullshiter and dont use your ear!!..and traktor has had a on-board pitch control since year 2000...so even without decks, midi, your finger up your ass, u can time a track into ANYTHING with your ear and finger..but you wont know how to do that!!...as the "hip hop " dude just showed you..it dont matter wat u spin on..it works..by the way..seratos new gear come out with sync and looping functions ..but still lacking a few other things!! to traktor hahaha

  • @jlcool007 saying this genre is for this software and that genre is for that..is flawed and tells me you know shit..and have not learnt the fundamentals of strait beatmatching bye ear and nudging the track back or forth by finger on plate/jog wheel or nudge button left and right and using a pitch control at the same time ...talking about the wave forms matching bye eye and beatgridding....U and u only will always find it hard mixing music with shifts of bpm using eyes only.hahaha

  • maybe most biased comparison i've seen, sad to see coming from someone like you

  • @jimmayraw biased.... biased? how? this was a clear sonic comparison of the two... big deal. he even said he couldn't tell the difference

    europe - traktor

    us - serato

don't even get into a sync battle with me haha cause ill have all of europe come and rape your brain hehe

  • serato is so much better i have both, now serato haseffects it owns traktor pro 2 :D

  • get a song up in another window, preferabley "deadmau5 - waking up to the american dream" then use 1 and 5 to scratch! sounds sick

  • Seriously what is better serato or traktor software wise like effects and every thing

  • @GigaBitesFly traktor has more effects and you can do more audio with it, serato's layout is more user friendly and easier to learn, but no effects in the software without a 57sl.

  • @dancingmachine01 imma gonna start as a beginne rwhat do you recommend? but i love doing effects though

  • @dancingmachine01 yea but which one is better ? :(

  • @GigaBitesFly if you play house, trance, techno, or dubstep, go with traktor. if you play hip hop, r&b, and top 40s, go with serato. they are both are great programs in there own right

  • @dancingmachine01 YEa but i play all genre

  • @GigaBitesFly id go with traktor. once you pass the learning curve its limitless

  • @dancingmachine01 is traktor realy hard to learn ? if im getting traktor im getting traktor duo 2 but serato looks neat but traktor seems to have lots of effects im confused

  • @GigaBitesFly traktor isint really hard, it just takes time like anything else. serato is too easy to learn, serato has no effects, and traktor duo 2 has i think 6 or 8 effects with it.

  • @dancingmachine01 Thanks dude !

  • I got serato tho

  • press 3 and 4 for teleportation

  • Serato is INDUSTRY STANDARD!!!!!!!

  • @frazertheblazer

    but TP2 is better!

  • @GROMSF well iv used both and i can honestly say theres hardly any difference, end of the day i want to turn up at a club and not have to fuck about in the back of the mixer, 99% of the time the club will have serato built in

  • very helpful video but it would have been helpful if you had used a MIDI controller mixer to test the latency of the signal

  • dj q-bert living legend! kool that he didn't sell his soul to serato or traktor so he can give us a uninfluenced opinion.. big!!!

  • @wwwMocciosoCom Are you retarded? He's on the Traktor videos lol.

  • @MysteryMixes oops! i was new to this comparision shit. always tought serato rules and tried it. now it seems the best turntablists are chosing traktor: q-bert, rafik etc. anyway it's all about business. but which one is more accurate in the emulation af vinyl? it seems traktor. anyway it will never sound like real vinyl because the dust & crackling noise is not there. so when you do some cutting etc. it sounds too clean. or i'm i wrong?

  • @wwwMocciosoCom They should have a snapp, crackle, and pop filter to fix that...hehehe

  • @wwwMocciosoCom They should have a snapp, crackle, and pop filter to fix that cleanliness.

  • @jpcritzer is there no possibility to add a 3rd party vinyl emulating plugin like ozone vinyl in the fx inserts of traktor or serato? in fact when you hear these performances the sound is too clean, it sounds like they're pushing knobs of a sampler or cd player.. i need some warmth in my sound

  • Lets face it Serato might more stabble because the software was simple with no effects. Traktor has always been ahead of Serato, the more you add to a Software the more things can go wrong. Serato kept its Software simple for a while but now its adding effects and becoming less stabble. Traktor has worked hard to be where is at and it just keeps on getting better and yes you can Sync Ableton with Traktor too look for the videos here on Youtube. I got Traktor and I love it TSP2 is the best for m

  • WHEN I SAY YOU CAN DJ AND PERFORM YOUR OWN BEATS. I MEAN ABLETON WITH THE APC 40 INSIDE SERATO!!!!NAMEEN

  • IN THESE TESTS THEY CAN BE EQUAL. BUT IF YOU WANT TO EXPAND, THE TTM57SL CAN BE EXPANDED WITH ABLETON SUITE, VIDEO SL, FLEX FX(KORG PAD QUAD AND ROLAND SP404SX) LINK UP APC 40'S AND 20'S, MPD32 AND 26'S AND DONT FORGET THE NOVATION DICERS!!!!!!!

SO BASICALLY YOU CAN DJ MP3'S,MUSIC VIDEOS, DJ AND PERFORM YOUR OWN MUSIC, AND CONNECT THE BEST EFFECTS PROCESSORS FOR FX. YOU MAKE A LOT OF MONEY DOING CONCERTS(DJ PERFORMANCE) WITH THIS SETUP.

    TRAKTOR FALLS SHORT!!!!!SORRY!

  • Serato! Thumbs up if you agree!

  • Now I own Traktor and VDJ. VDJ is way more stable and more customizable than traktor.

I just bought an sl2 so I will start using serato, will see whats up......

  • How does Torq 2.0 measure up? It would be cool if Q would do an update to this with Torq Conectiv

    Peace and Blessings

  • @netradioheyu a piece of shit, it's good only for mixing :D

  • @djbjam ohhh, ive cut on it before and pulled some pretty dirty combos...What did you not like about it? Peace

  • Comment removed

  • I hate all the traktor vs serato arguments. Any well rounded dj should learn to play on BOTH anyways... I personally prefer traktor, but I also really enjoy playing on serato. In the end, they both basically do the same stuff...

  • A TRAK IS ON SERATO YO..

  • Serato is the shit hands down...and as for the thumping he got from banging his mixer, Sersto SL3 has a sensitivity adjuster, the benefit is that every club has it so it's the choice here in the US. To each their own.

  • Traktor is #1, stop hattin Serato DJs hate on Traktor for effects auto sync and other stuff. But guess what Serato follows behind doing the same thing WTF. Then Serato DJs act like is something new ha ha well true new for Serato lol.

  • serato ftw, cant beat hardware by rane

  • press 1 for nom

    press 1111 for nomnomnomnom

  • Serato Scratch Live!!!

  • serato creeped over traktor ans sound is better on serato

  • @DjViBe5 Why?

  • the .flac isnt a problem for any user as most use either wvs of mp3's. Club installations dont need to have hq audio files at all as all run at 48hz and are in mono!!!!! If its scratching you're using it for then high quality audio files are pointless as to the ear on large club installation cant hear the difference - so not a deal breaker. So just to add again - Traktor is pants, unreliable unstable overpriced junk. Dont waste your money! Just buy Serato

  • Just buy both and stop fighting, I my self own Traktor and I love it. I might buy Serato just to compare both DVS systems.

  • I use CDJs rather than turntables, does anyone know if theres any REALLY noticeable problems for CDJS? (I use Pioneer CDJ 1000mk2s) I typically DJ with CDS and am completely new to the softwares and am equally noobish to both traktor and serato, any advice?

  • @TheNiteLite1000 I think both traktor and Serato have CDJ interfaces. You want to look up "CD timecode" to get more info

  • of course he says traktor is better....they sponsor him. i use traktor with cdj's in native mode...it is very convenient...but a piece of shit. laggy as fuck

  • No competition- traktor is garbage. Unreliable over priced, over marketed junk. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Just look on NI's forums, theres tens of thousands of threads from customers with major bug problems - dont expect help from NI support, they'll just send u to the forums, not good for a so called 'pro' product. I bought serato a month ago, rock solid - used it live and running for 6 hours with no gl;itches.

Scratchin around is ok but a real test is 6hours in a club. Traktor will die on u!

  • @FrankGee1000 Good luck playing .flac on your serato.

  • Is he using a sl1 or sl3????

  • @Jaseswift Well as it was made 18months ago - it's an SL1.

  • @Jaseswift SL1 :) but the software for all SL 1,2 3 and 4 are all the same :D

  • @kristjanv001. Well i unfortunately use traktor right now and i'm fucking sick of it. Its well known that native instruments DO pay big name artists to use their equipment. Look how much promotion they do compared to serato. And where do you get your facts from? I don't know if you ever actually play out but you'll notice that if clubs have chosen to have an audio interface installed...it will always be an sl3 not an audio 8 or 10 because more people use serato.

  • i understan hat control vinyls do but what happens if you scratch on a traktor control vinyl without a labtop setup? would there be any sounds at all?

  • @ThESToNeDSTuDeNT On the control vinyl side - no. (If it has actual vinyl audio on the other side, then the vinyl audio side will make sounds like normal.)

  • @ButterInChicago oh alright thanks for the reply

  • don't believe this video, q-bert is sponsored by traktor so he would say it's better. Serato is the industry standard, the only things traktor does better than serato is the effects, the loop recorder, marketing their products and having shit customer service. And don't listen to DJ tech tools, ran by ean golden....who's also paid by

    traktor lol!

  • En fin de compte, c'est juste une question de goût, nan ?

  • he's paid by traktor

  • theres like 9 people who use Traktor in the US.. haha.. Fuk Traktor...

  • he really doesn't look 40

  • hey liebe grüße tolles video, würde mich freuen wenn du bei mir auch ein kommentar machst ;-)

    youtube.com/user/1engelteufel

  • press 1 & 5 to scratch like a dj! :D

  • @swizzazn lololol fking awesome!

  • @swizzazn and 2 as well!

  • OOh yeah the 100 bucks is gonna make the difference when it already cost a billion dollars

  • @Digrandi13 Hey dude what the hell are you talking about Traktor costs more. Traktor pro using 4 deck capability is $600.00 where Shitrato SL4 is $900.00 what the fuck why should it cost that much? It doesn't even have as many features as Traktor does so fuck off. Fuck that bullshit about "its the industry standard" fuck that corporate bullshit. Well duh! So if you are a club owner and a poishit and serato rep says you want free dj gear you wouldn't take it. So think about who isreallyincontrol

  • @Chitownzson Cool Story, Bro

  • Ha Ha sorry Shitrato looks like the real marketer dug your grave and if you think about it shitrato has been doing everything that Traktor has done just to keep up but it's only a matter of time when Traktor is the "Club Standard" in the US
