this plot reminds me vaguely of "the children's hour" - a rumour is started that two women who run a school together are gay and suddenly it's scandal! Parents pulling their kids out of school, whispers, vandalism! Of course one of the women realises she really IS in love with the other and overwhelmed by the "wrongness" of it all, kills herself. thank jeebus this ended differently!

It's actually not that unusual these days. Loads of my friends' kids have cellphones when they go to school (7 year olds and up). It's for safety. They can call their moms when they leave for school and in emergencies.

despite the absurdity of this bit, it strikes me that there are two possible ways this unfolds. one it is a positive argument for people minding their own business and gay relationships are just relationships. the two women stay just friends (despite the gleam in olivia's eye).

or otalia spend a lot of time denying it all to themselves and others, have everyone convinced and then, oops, it turns out to be true after all.

of course, eventually they will go back to men, but hey.

I think that at the moment this is more of a storyline about Olivia. She has definate feelings for Natalia - some of the looks she gives her are incredibly truthful. I think she is struggling with her feelings, and is afraid of not being accepted.

On a lighter note... Olivia is so cute with Natalia. She is so tough and assertive a lot of the time, but she's sensative when it comes to how Natalia feels about there family. Olivia's eyes light up when Natalia says anything positive about her and or Emma. And Olivea gets this shy look and goes all quiet whenever Natalia expressing her feelings. I think this story is a great eye opener for a few reasons. There are many viewers of GL that are conservative, but looking at Olivia and Natalia's situation and how they are being judged by it, I can see these conservative viewers actually being sympathetic to the characters. As well, the strong use of language, of it being "propaganda" by expressing a happy "alternative" lifestyle that a little girl wrote to her class shows the absurdity of prejudice and closemindness.

Absolutely. Doris may be the only pure villain left on GL. (Even Alan is allowed to have feelings sometimes.) If she's gunning for Otalia, that tells the viewers that we should be rooting for them. Yay!! (I have given up trying to stay uninvested in this couple. I hope they don't break my heart.)

That scene is really cute. I love it anytime they have one of these scenes where C.C. just does the running Olivia patter. "'Cause you know, it's a landfill" and Jessica doesn't bat an eye because Nat is so used to Liv's humor. The actresses do such a great job at showing the bond between them with subtlety.
